Police have launched an investigation.
Ardiljit Singh, a resident, said the conflict stemmed from a previous altercation involving his friend Rishu (17), who had intervened to protect a child from being beaten by a group of youths. Though a settlement was reached later, tensions resurfaced when the miscreants posted Rishu's photo on Instagram with abusive captions. When confronted, they demanded another apology from Rishu and his friends.
On Wednesday, the miscreants called Rishu and threatened him. Ardiljit informed them that Rishu was at his house and would not come out. That night, the group arrived armed and attacked Ardiljit and Rishu outside the house. The two ran inside for safety, but the attackers vandalised two motorcycles and broke CCTV cameras using swords.
Ardiljit claimed the miscreants fired four shots at the house and challenged them to come out.
Residents responded by throwing flower pots from the roof, forcing the attackers to flee. Locals managed to catch three of the miscreants' accomplices, who claimed they were unaware of the plan and had been misled into joining under the pretext of going out to eat.
SHO, Bhupinder Singh of Division Number Seven police station confirmed that statements are being recorded. He denied reports of gunfire at the scene.

Your comments are proof why Renukaswamy's family needs justice: Ramya slams Darshan fans

Actress Ramya is once again facing a wave of online trolling for speaking out in support of Renukaswamy's family — the victim in the ongoing murder case linked to actor Darshan . Last week, the Supreme Court strongly criticised the Karnataka High Court's decision to grant bail to Darshan, questioning the rationale behind the order and suggesting it nearly amounted to an acquittal. Sharing a screenshot of this development, Ramya took to Instagram to demand justice for Renukaswamy's death, and wrote: 'SC is a ray of hope for the common people of India- justice for the family of Renukaswamy.' However, her post did not sit well with Darshan's fanbase, many of whom flooded her comments section with abusive and hateful messages. Unfazed, Ramya responded with a sharply worded Instagram Story that read: 'To all the DBoss fans — Welcome to my Instagram :) Your comments are proof why Renukaswamy's family needs justice!' This isn't the first time Ramya has been targeted. Last year, shortly after Darshan's arrest, she had posted, 'No one is above the law. No one should take the law into their hands.' That too had triggered a wave of trolling from his supporters. Meanwhile, Darshan — currently out on bail — has been on a temple run, recently spotted visiting multiple temples across Karnataka. He had also traveled to Thailand last week to shoot portions of his upcoming film Devil, and returned to Bengaluru two days ago. Ramya and Darshan have shared the screen in two Kannada films — Datta and Snehana Preethina.

Surat man deported from Zurich after agent forges visa documents

Surat : Five visa agents from Nadiad and Ahmedabad allegedly cheated a Surat-based visa consultancy firm and 13 of its clients of Rs 65 lakh in a fraudulent work permit racket involving Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. The complainant, Aryan Shaikh, who runs a visa consultancy with partner Pratik Ahir in the Parle Point area, came across an Instagram ad for Shree Overseas Consultancy. After contacting the number listed, they connected with Sandip Parikh, who claimed to run the firm based in Petlad (Kheda) along with his wife Gita Parikh. He promised work permits and visas to countries like the UK, US, Canada, and New Zealand for Rs 14.5 lakh per client. Trusting the Parikh couple, Shaikh began forwarding client documents in March 2024 — starting with seven files for UK and New Zealand, followed by a Canadian visa application for a client named Vanrajsinh Rathod, for Rs 18 lakh. Over time, Shaikh shared details of 13 clients and paid Rs 86 lakh in total. However, most receipts provided by the Parikhs turned out to be forged.
