The Dallas Cowboys haven't reached the point of no return with Micah Parsons, but it doesn't seem like the contract situation is trending in the right direction. If the contract talks eventually reach a point where the Cowboys have to start taking or making calls on a Micah Parsons trade, interested teams can expect a high price tag for the veteran pass rusher.
NFL Expert Bill Barnwell recently projected what Parsons' price tag could look like if the Cowboys begin to work the phones. To no surprise, it's pricey.
"Two first-round picks and more," Barnwell wrote on ESPN.
He assumes that Parsons currently carries the highest trade price on the Cowboys, due to his on-field production and his current salary.
"The closest comp is Khalil Mack, who in 2018 was traded before his fifth season with a second-round pick for two first-round picks, a third-rounder and a sixth-rounder," Barnwell explained.
"Parsons is a year younger than Mack was at the time. And while Mack had a Defensive Player of the Year award under his belt, Parsons has more sacks, and quarterback knockdowns over his first four seasons. The Mack deal came in just shy of two first-round picks of value after accounting for the other selections involved; the Cowboys would expect more for Parsons."

As a rookie in 2021, the former 12th overall pick won the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year title. He was a first-time Pro Bowler off the bat, and hasn't gone without a nod since.
In 63 games over the past four seasons, Parsons has rounded up 256 tackles, 63 of which were for a loss. He got to the quarterback for 52.5 sacks and knocked down the QB 112 times. Being that Parsons is staring at his first major payday in the NFL, the Cowboys aren't going to be getting him at a discount.
On Tuesday, NFL Insider Adam Schefter offered an update on the Parsons-Cowboys contract saga. The situation seems far from resolved with the first week of training camp in the books.
"I would say right now we're nowhere on that deal," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday. "We are further away from a deal in late July, early August than we were in late March, early April. The two sides have gone backwards, not forward."
Most believe that Parsons and the Cowboys will get something done at some point, but it's difficult to imagine that's a guaranteed scenario as of now. Parsons and the Jones family have traded public shots over the past week, signaling that a standoff is in play. The longer the situation plays out, the more frustrated both sides will become.

ESPN's Kendrick Perkins believes Lu Dort is the 5th-best defender in NBA

When you win an NBA championship, expect an entire summer's worth of praise from the national talking heads. That's what the Oklahoma City Thunder have experienced fresh off one of the greatest campaigns the league has ever seen. The Thunder had a historic 68-14 regular-season record. They broke the NBA record for the largest point differential ever. That dominance carried over to the playoffs as they brought home the Larry O'Brien trophy. They destroyed the opposition with their defense, as most of their game-sealing runs happened from turnovers created. A key contributor to their championship run was Lu Dort. In a locker room filled to the top with world-class defenders, it was Dort who his teammates campaigned for to represent them in the Defensive Player of the Year race. Dort ultimately came up short in fourth place, but was rewarded with his first All-Defense Team honors. Something the Thunder feel like should've happened years ago, as one of the league's best one-on-one defenders since he debuted as an undrafted rookie in 2019. Ranking the five best defensive players, ESPN's Kendrick Perkins gave Dort his flowers on the "NBA Today" program. He listed him as the fifth-best defender in the league. His teammate, Alex Caruso, was surprisingly ranked in first place. Evan Mobley, Amen Thompson and Victor Wembanyama rounded out the top five as the second-to-fourth best defensive players in that order. "Defensive tackle, linebacker, whatever you want to call him, a pest. The opponents hate to see him coming because of the physicality. Screeners hate to screen him because they can't. He's going to go through or fight over screens," Perkins said. "A key reason why the Thunder won the NBA championship this year. He addresses the problem of perimeter defense." It shouldn't be surprising to see the Thunder have two of Perkins' five best defensive players. They had one of the greatest defenses ever. That side of the ball led them to an NBA championship. Dort is the reason why only a handful of perimeter players dropped 30-plus points against OKC this past season.

49ers think former UFL star can be diamond in the rough for overhauled D-line

Every NFL team is hoping they can unearth that diamond in the rough talent that other teams passed up on. The 49ers might have one of those players in their 2025 training camp right now. San Francisco signed defensive lineman Bradlee Anae on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman starred in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions during the 2025 campaign. Anae led the UFL with a 23.2 pass rush win rate, led all pass rushers with a 91.7 grade in true pass sets according to Pro Football Focus and was also in the top five in pressures and hurries. Anae registered 17 tackles, six tackles for loss, and five sacks with the Stallions. 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is familiar with Anae, who spent time with the New York Jets' practice squad when Saleh was the Jets' head coach. "Bradlee, he came to us at the Jets from Dallas as a practice squad guy which gave us an opportunity to work with him. We were all really excited to work with him. We thought that he had a legit chance to make a really good roster and be in the d-line room in New York. "He tore his ACL during OTAs which set him back. I'm proud of him, he found his way. He had a really successful season. So, he's here and he's a good player. I'm not going to say who I compare him to, but he's a very smart, effective player. He's got great versatility, so it's a great opportunity for him. I hope he takes advantage of this," Saleh said. Anae began his career as a fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Anae played in 11 games during his first two years in the league, tallying two tackles in those appearances. The 26-year-old also spent time in the Atlanta Falcons' organization.
