The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Jordan Love will face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday Night Football. That matchup is now officially going to happen.
On Friday, Rodgers agreed to terms with the Steelers. He flew to Pittsburgh to sign his deal, and he will be the new starting quarterback for the storied franchise.
For the first time since the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets back in April of 2023, the future Hall of Fame quarterback will have a chance to play against his old team. Fans on both sides could not be more excited to watch Love and Rodgers play against each other.

As shared by Jason Wilde of WISC-TV News 3, Love had nothing but good things to say about Rodgers. He's clearly excited to face off against his old mentor.
"I was excited for A-Rod. I don't think I was too surprised," Love said. "I feel like there were a lot of rumors going on throughout the whole offseason about him going to the Steelers. I was excited for him, that he was obviously coming back and going to be playing. There were also some rumors that he might be done, so just knowing he's going to keep playing, that's pretty awesome."
Love continued on, speaking out more about how Rodgers treated him when he was drafted. He's thankful for Rodgers and the way he handled things.
"I appreciate definitely the way A-Rod handled being in that situation, and I think a big part of it — which he told me — was he knew how it was for him being in that same position, and the things that he went through and the way the situation might've been handled [differently]," Love said. "I think his perspective was, 'I'm trying to go about this a little bit differently,' which I think was awesome."
Finally, the Green Bay franchise quarterback spoke out specifically about his matchup with Rodgers during the 2025 season.

"It's going to be fun. It's going to be awesome. I'm excited for it," Love said. "I can't wait to be on different sides, meeting up, and I know we'll talk pre-game, things like that. And hopefully we can exchange jerseys after."
Just like Rodgers when he faced off against Brett Favre, there will be some emotions involved in the game. Even though Rodgers is no longer connected to the Packers, what he did with the franchise will never be forgotten.
However, when the two teams step onto the field, all friendships will be forgotten for 60 minutes of game action. Love playing against Rodgers on Sunday Night Football will be must-watch football.

Aaron Rodgers signs with Steelers: See which number the new AFC North QB will wear

It was a big day filled with numbers for Aaron Rodgers on Saturday. He signed his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The deal is for a year and will earn the quarterback $10 million guaranteed, with a maximum value of $19.5 million. The deal includes $5.85 million worth of playing time and team performance incentives. Rodgers will wear No. 8 for the Steelers, per Adam Schefter. No Steelers player has worn 12 since Terry Bradshaw, so that was out of the question, although the number is not retired. Rodgers will take the number from current punter Corliss Waitman, who has been with the team for three seasons. Minnesota Vikings Named Landing Spot for NFC North Rival Green Bay Packers Defender Jaire Alexander

Minnesota Vikings Named Landing Spot for NFC North Rival Green Bay Packers Defender Jaire Alexander originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NFL season has passed the June 1 mark, and the possibilities are endless for free agents and trade partners, which might include the Minnesota Vikings. Advertisement Why that is important is that NFL teams will not be held to compensatory picks if they sign a free agent. Teams will also save money on contracts for those players they are looking to offload. Minnesota has remained busy in the offseason, spending $300 million on free agents to build an NFL juggernaut. It might not be over for the Vikings, though, as they could be in the market to add more talent. Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores.© Jamie Sabau-Imagn Images CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin shared a list of his top candidates to be cut or traded past June 1. One player of focus was Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. While Benjamin believes a restructured deal is his prediction, if it goes sideways, the Vikings are a possible landing spot. Advertisement 'All offseason, the Green Bay Packers have publicly anticipated a breakup with Alexander, who's simultaneously been one of the NFL's best -- and most injured -- cover men. Both sides hinted at a split in free agency, either via trade or release. Now the Packers apparently have a new contract offer on the table, but if the Pro Bowler doesn't bite at a pay cut, Green Bay could save $17 million by cutting or trading the cornerback after June 1. That's an increase of $9.5 million from prior to June 1.' Alexander has spent the last seven years making the Vikings' offense miserable in the Packers' secondary, racking up 287 tackles, 70 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions in 78 games. He's made the Pro Bowl and was an AP second-team All-Pro selection twice in 2020 and 2022. Should Green Bay move on from Alexander, it's doubtful they would trade him to the Vikings. Instead, Alexander would have to get released, and Minnesota could swoop in to get him. The Vikings' defense was among the worst against the pass last year, ranking 28th and allowing 242 yards per game. That led to changes being made as Cam Bynum departed for the Indianapolis Colts in free agency, and Stephon Gilmore has yet to sign with another team. Advertisement Minnesota brought in Isaiah Rodgers and Jeff Okudah to help at cornerback alongside Byron Murphy Jr. and Mekhi Blackmon. The Vikings surprisingly did not address the position in the 2025 NFL Draft, so speculation has risen about Minnesota signing a free-agent cornerback. Alexander is a good fit within Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores' scheme, as he is versatile and physical. The concern with Alexander is that he has missed 28 games since 2021 due to injuries. Suppose he becomes available via trade or free agency. In that case, Minnesota will have to consider the option, as one more cornerback is needed on the roster before the 2025 season for insurance purposes. Steelers quickly settle any Aaron Rodgers jersey number mystery after signing

Aaron Rodgers has already found his jersey number with the Steelers. Rodgers, 41, is set to wear No. 8 next season with Pittsburgh, the team shared in a social media post. The number previously belonged to Steelers punter Corliss Waitman, who will now switch to No. 3 for the upcoming season, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Advertisement Rodgers previously wore No. 8 during his two seasons with the Jets after wearing No. 12 for 18 years in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers throws a pass for a touchdown during the first half at Metlife Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST Rodgers, who initially agreed to sign with the Steelers on Thursday, finalized the contract Saturday, with both parties agreeing on a one-year deal worth $13.65 million, according to multiple reports. Advertisement The contract, which includes $10 million of guaranteed money, also has performance incentives that could potentially raise the amount to $19.5 million. Rodgers' signing ultimately ends a monthslong free agency saga following his departure from the Jets in February. Rodgers played in just 18 games with the Jets across two seasons after the 10-time Pro-Bowler suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during his first game with the team in 2023. Tensions were apparently high between Rodgers and Jets management amid his departure from the team, with new head coach Aaron Glenn not showing 'ample respect' during the pair's final meeting, according to the four-time MVP. Advertisement Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers speaks to the media after practice in Florham Park, NJ on December 18, 2024. Bill Kostroun/New York Post During an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show' in April, Rodgers said the conversation between him and Glenn was short, with new head coach 'running out of the room' to get general manager Darren Mougey. 'That was kind of strange,' Rodgers said at the time. 'I think we are going to have this long conversation. I've flown across the country, and 20 seconds in he goes and he leans to the edge of his seat and says, 'So, you want to play football?' And I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm interested.' And he was like, 'We're going in a different direction at quarterback.' 'I was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn't think it was a possibility, but shocked because I just flew across the country and you could've told me this over the phone.'
