SRN Hospital docs successfully perform complex spine surgery
Prayagraj: Doctors at Swarup Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital have successfully performed a complex surgery on a 27-year-old man suffering from a wedge compression fracture in the D12 vertebra of the spinal cord. The surgery was led by Dr Sachin Yadav. To stabilise the patient's spine, the team used a minimally invasive surgery (MIS) technique called Pedicle Screw Fixation, which is considered a leading method in modern spinal surgery. Dr Yadav explained that MIS involves making much smaller incisions compared to traditional open surgery. This results in less damage to the muscles, reduced blood loss and a faster recovery for the patient. Using fluoroscopy, or real-time X-ray imaging, screws are precisely inserted into the vertebrae, followed by the placement of rods to stabilise the spine. This advanced technique is primarily used to treat spinal fractures, scoliosis (curvature of the spine), and degenerative spinal conditions. Expressing satisfaction, principal Motilal Nehru Medical College (MLNMC), Dr VK Pandey said: "This complex surgery performed by our team is a testament to the high-quality medical facilities available in govt hospitals. Swarup Rani Hospital continues to adopt advanced technologies to provide the best care for its patients."
