The author of the hit novel turned Oscar-nominated picture Conclave said the King revealed to him that he has watched the film.
Robert Harris, 68, was formally made a CBE by Charles for services to literature in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

Harris said it was "eerie" and "like an out of body experience" to see his 2016 book turned into a film, and then to see the papal selection process which he had researched in so much detail play out in May after the death of Pope Francis.

"(It was) very odd, I suppose because I researched it very thoroughly, and really it's the sort of thing that can practically only be done in fiction because you have to have a lot of conjecture," Harris told the PA news agency.
"And so it acted as a kind of primer for journalists and for people, so that was very strange.
"And then, of course, the extraordinary fact that the new pope watched it on the eve of the conclave."

Pope Leo's brother John Prevost told NBC News his younger sibling had watched the film before the secret vote.
Harris said the King also asked about his new book.
"We talked a bit about Conclave, which he has seen," Harris said.

"He's been reading my books for years, so it was nice to see him again."
The journalist-turned-novelist also joked about how seeing the inside of Buckingham Palace could provide him inspiration for his future books.
"There'd have to be some mystery in the throne room, yes, murder in the throne room! It's got possibilities."

Harris said it was a "very generous gesture" to receive the honour and he had "never thought about it" before being asked.
Author Dame Jacqueline Wilson was made a Dame Grand Cross for her services to the same industry at the ceremony.
The 79-year-old former children's laureate is widely known as the creator of Tracy Beaker and has written more than 100 novels.

"It feels like a dream," Dame Jacqueline said on receiving the honour. "I'm so pleased, so proud.
"I was just totally taken by surprise. To be utterly truthful, I didn't even know this particular honour existed. I'm so proud and so overwhelmed.
"If little girl Jacqueline could be told that I'd be standing outside Buckingham Palace with medals and a sash, she would have been astonished."

Dame Jacqueline said the King was "jovial" and they laughed about getting her sash on over her "silly hat".
"And I did thank him, and particularly also thanked Her Majesty the Queen, because she takes such an interest in children's literature, and that makes all of us writers feel very pleased," she said.
Last year, Dame Jacqueline released her first adult novel since the 1970s as she returned to her beloved Girls series.

The novel, Think Again, was nominated at this year's British Book Awards.

'Elderly neighbour leaves parcels on my doorstep and contents always floor me'

She couldn't believe what was inside (stock image) (Image: Getty Images) There's nothing quite like having good neighbours - after all, life is so much easier when people living on the same street get along. For one woman, things are pretty good, as her neighbour often leaves random parcels on her doorstep - but you'll never believe what's inside. Danielle, known as charityshoplife on TikTok, often documents her charity shop finds online, but her recent story has gone viral as it focuses on her elderly neighbour. In the video, she said she always leaves bags of things on her doorstep, so she never knows what she's going to come home to - even though the items are not for her to keep. She said she never knows what's going to arrive next, and she's been gifted all sorts of gorgeous designer wear - from Prada to Chanel. Though the story may appear wild at first, there's a special reason why she does this and it shows just how kind some neighbours can be. Danielle said: "For some context, I sell second hand clothing online for a living. She's a little bit elderly, she doesn't really do the internet. She won't sell anything online herself so I do it for her. "I don't charge her anything, so let's see what we've been left with today. A nice red, oh this is really, really gorgeous. I was thinking oh a trench coat, it's got to be Burberry, and it is, and I'm not sure it's ever been worn. "Wow, the colour of that is stunning. I really want to go and have a look in her wardrobe, but I haven't really plucked up the courage to ask yet." Content cannot be displayed without consent She added: "Let's see what else is in here. I think it's another Burberry trench. Oh, this one's shorter this time. That's it - only two items today, but it's still pretty cool coming home to find Burberry left on your doorstep." After Danielle shared the video, thousands of people viewed it and were quick to comment. Many couldn't believe that she gets left such luxury items. One person wrote: "I gasped. Stunning. Do you give her the money you make? What a neighbour to have." To this, Danielle replied: "Yeah, I don't make a cut or anything. "I just get the best price I can for her, and give her the money. It's not really much effort when my life is already listing stuff and posting parcels." Another said: "I think we all need your neighbour in our lives." A third quipped: "Is your neighbour Miranda Priestly?" Meanwhile, a fourth commented: "I sold for an elderly neighbour and she was so grateful. We both had so much fun guessing what price the stuff was going to sell for and how quickly." Someone else also chimed in with: "The items are fab and so are you for looking out for your neighbour. It's a lovely thing to do - very kind." There were some people who admitted they don't think they'd be able to part with such gorgeous clothing, while others said they'd be worried about such expensive items being left on the doorstep. Danielle admitted: "I also wonder how long two Burberry coats sat on my doorstep before I got home. I do always say I will come and get them but they just appear."

Myleene Klass opens up on ex‑husband heroin offences and birthday betrayal

Myleene Klass and Graham Quinn were married in 2011 but divorced in 2013 (Image: Getty Images) Pop star turned TV presenter Myleene Klass has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she discovered her now ex-husband "cheated" on her with a famous celebrity at her own birthday party. Myleene, 47, shed light on the moment during a podcast episode with Married At First Sight's Paul C Brunson. She revealed on his show, We Need To Talk: "I walked in on him with a famous person on my birthday on a balcony." The mother-of-three claimed the pair tried to brush off their actions, but she insists "they were unzipping each other". She continued: "I kicked everybody out of the party, including his mum and dad. They went back to Ireland and his dad said, 'He doesn't get it from me'. I just remember that as being quite a weird thing to say." READ MORE: Myleene Klass' ex-husband's bitter words after divorce turned sour following 'cheating' Myleene Klass said her world fell apart when she caught her ex-husband 'cheating' Detailing exactly what happened after she spotted the pair "unzipping" each other, Myleene, who shares Ava, 17, and Hero, 13 with her now-ex, admitted life completely fell apart. Myleene said she 'cried' during her wedding reception (Image: Twitter) Graham and Myleene met when he worked as a security guard for Hear'Say, Myleene's pop group from the early 2000s. The pair began dating in the mid‑2000s, welcoming their first daughter, Ava, in 2007 and their second, Hero, in 2011. They married in 2011, but their marriage ended just six months later, with divorce finalised in 2013. Myleene has previously discussed her ex-husband's legal troubles. At one point, he was reportedly arrested in connection with heroin possession and distribution charges. Speaking to The Standard in 2012, Myleene revealed Graham had been arrested when he was 17 years old for heroin possession in his native Dublin and had jumped bail. She said at the time: "Before we even considered having a relationship, he was very up-front with me about what he had done. He was young and he got caught up in a bad crowd. I was shocked, but I also respected his honesty and the fact that he didn't make any excuses for his behaviour. Who was I to judge?" He was fined and given a suspended prison sentence and has since become a patron of the Drugsline charity and talks to children in schools about the dangers of drugs. Myleene shares two children with Graham (Image: Alan Chapman/Dave Benett/Getty I) In the podcast, Myleene explained: "They weren't having sex but they were unzipping each other." Addressing how she felt about her ex-husband's unnamed lover in the aftermath, she said: "I've made peace with that situation now, but for a long time, it was very difficult to see their life. "Not that I would wish that on a family... I don't know I'm conflicted. My life literally just broke apart very, very publicly and their life, they've managed to continue building a family brand on it. It felt so difficult for a long time." According to Myleene, the marriage collapsed within six months. Quinn's hidden real estate purchase and refusal to sign a prenup made her feel betrayed. As she described it: "So we'd had the biggest row... I'd asked him why he wouldn't sign the prenup. On the night of our wedding I asked again... He'd actually got a house, a secret house that he'd bought already". The relationship - and subsequent divorce - was emotionally and financially draining. Myleene said, "All I will say to you is I've raised my children single‑handedly, financially, as a sole parent for 12 years". On the podcast, Myleene added: "My life literally just broke apart very, very publicly... And their life, they've managed to continue building a family brand on it and it felt so difficult for a long time". Looking back on their wedding she said it was the "most miserable" time, and that she cried "the entire reception". Charlamagne tha God tells Lara Trump he likes Jon Stewart for 2028

Stewart has been critical of Donald Trump's policies and holds progressive viewpoints. He's been a vocal advocate of improving healthcare access for veterans and first responders. He anchored Comedy Central's The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015, and later returned as a part-time host in 2024. "We've seen him get legislation and stuff, you know, passed before, like we know where his heart is. He'd be somebody I'd like to see really get in the race and disrupt things in 2028," Charlamagne told Lara Trump. Charlamagne, co-host of The Breakfast Club, said in an episode of his show on July 31 that he doesn't know if Harris should run again in 2028. "I definitely would like to see her write a book. I definitely would like to see her start a podcast and just build a real connection with people," he said. Harris said on July 30 that her leadership and public service "will not be in elected office" for now. Harris is currently writing a book, two people with knowledge of her plans said, and is expected to go on tour. Contributing: Francesca Chambers, USA TODAY
