Aaron Paul to Star in James McTeigue's Psychological Thriller THE MIDNIGHT POOL — GeekTyrant
Aaron Paul is diving deep into psychological territory with The Midnight Pool , a new thriller from V for Vendetta director James McTeigue.
This project marks a return to genre storytelling for McTeigue and gives Paul another complex role to play, this time as a grieving journalist whose pursuit of a big story takes him into a reality-warping rabbit hole.
The film is based on a 2022 Black List script by Jonathan Easley ( Red Right Hand ), and it follows Johnny Black (Paul), 'a jaded journalist whom, after a personal tragedy, is lured into the shadows of an elite, exclusive society, where the pursuit of a career-defining story becomes a descent into illusion, manipulation and altered realities.' Think Eyes Wide Shut meets Jacob's Ladder .
Paul was immediately hooked and he said in a statement: 'The moment Midnight Pool landed on my desk I knew I had to sit down with James. The world created by Jonathan Easley really stayed with me long after I put the script down.
'The idea of James holding the reins to tell this story got me extremely excited to tackle this world with him. We sat down in my backyard and spoke for hours about the love of filmmaking.
'After that meeting it was very clear we both wanted to lean in. I am such a huge admirer of James and I feel truly blessed to be on this journey with him and the rest of the team.'
McTeigue, whose past work spans cult hits and blockbuster franchises, added: ' The Midnight Pool felt like the culmination of my career — a gripping psychological drama with mind-bending visuals and action,' he said. 'When Aaron Paul agreed to play Johnny Black, I knew we had something truly special.'
Producer Zak Kristofek : 'Jason and I couldn't be more thrilled to bring to life with the extraordinary talents of James McTeigue and Aaron Paul. James's sharp eye for tension and psychological depth, combined with Aaron's magnetic intensity, makes this an exceptionally exciting collaboration. This is a film that will keep audiences on edge — and thinking long after the credits roll.'

Power Rangers & Ninja Turtles New Crossover — GeekTyrant
The Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles are no strangers to each other and I guess it's time for another crossover. BOOM! Studios and IDW are teaming up with writer Ryan Parrott ( Vicarious ) and illustrator Vincenzo Federici ( Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ) to bring fans Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III . This is the third crossover comic series penned by Parrott and so I'm sure he's got something great cooked up for us fans and while I'm not very familiar with Federici, a look at his Instagram tells me that we've got an incredible creative duo. With Rita and Krang defeated, the bad guys aren't cutting the Rangers and Turtles no slack! Lord Zedd and Shredder have a new plan to take down the radical teen heroes, and if they don't act carefully, they may just succeed. I really liked the first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series but sadly missed the second series. I'm curious what Zedd and Shredder will get up to. My first instinct is something with the Dark Rangers that were a great idea with just awful execution in season two of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers . Maybe they'll finally get justice? You can read Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1 on August 13 from your local comic shop. There's no word on how many issues to expect, but I think it's safe to assume that it will be like the previous two series and run for five issues. What are your predictions for the third crossover story?

THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS Is Now Streaming Online For Free and It Still Rules! — GeekTyrant
The classic cartoon series, The Real Ghostbusters , which spun off from the original 1984 Ghostbusters film is now streaming on The Roku Channel for free. No subscription required, just fire it up and dive into the glorious weirdness of that show! While the franchise has mostly lived on through movies, merch, and nostalgia-fueled reboots, The Real Ghostbusters holds a special place in the hearts of fans who grew up in the late '80s and early '90s. Airing from 1986 to 1991, the show delivered seven seasons and 140 episodes of wild ghost-hunting mayhem that pushed the franchise into crazy, stranger territory than the films ever dared. And now, 117 of those episodes are available to stream. If you've never used The Roku Channel, it works a lot like Pluto TV or Tubi, it's free and ad-supported, available on Roku devices, web browsers, and most streaming platforms. It's a simple, low-barrier way to revisit old favorites or discover cult classics. This resurgence in interest isn't just about nostalgia, either. Ghostbusters is back in the cultural spotlight with recent films like Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire bringing in a new generation of fans, and there's more coming. An animated Ghostbusters series is currently in the works at Netflix, executive produced by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan. Kenan offered an encouraging update not too long ago, teasing some behind-the-scenes progress on the new series: 'I just watched an entire art presentation for the show. I've seen the sets and the environments, and I just saw my first glimpse at a world of supernatural characters as realized by our brilliant creative team. 'All I can say is the work is being done as we speak. It's in what we call full development. Scripts are being written, art is being created, and it's a great time to be a Ghostbuster.' So whether you're revisiting childhood memories or discovering these ghost-chasing adventures for the first time, now's the perfect time to dive into The Real Ghostbusters . It's weird, it's wild, it's wonderful, and it's finally easy to watch again. Just don't cross the streams.
