Motocross 2025 250 results, highlights, finish at Thunder Valley: Chance Hymas sweeps

For the third consecutive race, a rider swept the moto wins as another finished second in both, but in a twist, it was Chance Hymas with the pair of wins on his way to the overall victory at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado. In addition to sweeping the motos, Hymas was fastest in both qualification sessions, holeshotted both motos, and led every lap of the round to score a perfect weekend. This was his second overall Pro Motocross victory, and it was starkly different from his first, when Hymas finished 4-1 last year in the RedBud Nationals, narrowly beating Ty Masterpool. Click here for a recap of Thunder Valley Hymas' domination put an end to Haiden Deegan's perfect season in Moto 1. The box score showed Deegan 45.677 seconds behind Hymas at the end of Moto 1, but that does not tell the whole story. At the halfway point, Deegan posted his fastest lap of the race with a 2:13.091, which was 1.5 seconds quicker than the leader, Hymas. He continued to close the gap until he had the leader in sight, but there was a cost to that speed. Deegan's bike began to smoke, and he nearly fell into the clutches of Garrett Marchbanks and Masterpool on the final lap. Deegan finished second in Moto 2 as well for second overall. After finishing eighth in Moto 1, Levi Kitchen did not believe he had a shot at the overall podium. He admitted as much in the post-race news conference, but riders dig deep when they are challenged, and Kitchen scored a hard-fought third-place finish in Moto 2. Relive Moto 1 On the opposite side of the coin, Marchbanks must have liked his chances for the overall podium after finishing third in Moto 1. As well as that race treated him, Moto 2 was the polar opposite, and Marchbanks replicated his teammate Kitchen's first race effort of eighth. Despite earning the same number of points, Marchbanks was pushed back to fourth via the tiebreaker. Every position matters. Tom Vialle demonstrated consistency in both motos, finishing sixth in the first race and fifth in Moto 2. In the closing laps of the second race, he was embroiled in a battle with Jo Shimoda for fourth. Had he secured the position, he would have earned the same amount of points as Kitchen and Marchbanks to secure the overall podium. Shimoda had a tall hill to climb after finishing ninth in Moto 1. His fourth-place finish in the second race elevated him to sixth overall. Kayden Minear makes Pro Motocross debut in Thunder Valley, qualifies 12th

LAKEWOOD, Colorado: Kayden Minear swept the motos of the SMX Next division last week at Hangtown Motocross Park in Rancho Cordova, California, and with his perfect score of two points, bettered the result of the riders in second, Landen Gibson, and third, Leum Oehlhof, by an even larger margin. That strong run encouraged Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing to give the Australian rider an opportunity to race against the professionals. 'We talked about it for a while, but [last week's results] signified how good I'm riding at the moment and that gave them a little kick in the butt to get me up into the pro ranks,' Minear told NBC Sports during Friday's Media sessions. 'I know [the field is] deep, but I ride with the pros every week. I know what I'm capable of.' Minear will ride this weekend in Thunder Valley and next week at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, before switching gear in preparation for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Nationals. Depending on his results in these rounds, fans may see him on the bike again at the end of the Pro Motocross season. Minear was 19th overall in the first qualification session and improved in Q2 to land 12th overall on the chart. "Really tough day" for Fabio Quartararo as Yamaha struggles at Aragon MotoGP

The low-grip Aragon track was a prime suspect to expose the deficiencies of Yamaha's YZR-M1 machine and unfortunately for Fabio Quartararo and the Japanese manufacturer the issue was in the spotlight. There was no shortage of sympathy for the luckless Frenchman whose Yamaha machine snapped and jumped seemingly on the exit of every corner around the track during Friday practice. Advertisement To add insult to injury, Quartararo's Yamaha was joint-slowest through the speed trap, almost 10 km/h (6 mph) slower than Brad Binder's KTM. The inability to put power down on the tarmac was undoubtedly a key factor in the speed difference. With frantic gesticulation while out on track, it was clear that Quartararo wasn't pleased. He left the garage as soon as the session was over, preferring to cool down before he dived into the debriefs. At least Quartararo could see the funny side when he spoke to the media, as he hops from one end of the grid to the other this weekend. 'We almost made the pole position on the other side [at the back of the grid],' joked the Frenchman initially. 'A really, really tough day especially with the soft tyre. We don't understand what really happened with electronics and stuff but not the best day and especially [since] we don't understand why. 'The problem is that you never know when to expect it and in our case, it is not the best when you are on the bike fully in angle and you never know if you're going to lose it on the edge or on the exit and I didn't make any lap. The four laps I did was all cutting and making mistakes so we will have to find a solution.' 'The set-up is good," said the 2021 MotoGP champion. "We have to just understand why when we change rubber it completely changes our bike, and our electronics become crazy.' Yamaha team director Massimo Meregalli was equally disappointed in the session understanding the problem suffered by his riders as Quartararo and Alex Rins finished the Friday in 18th and 15th respectively. 'They are suffering the same problem, it's the rear grip,' Meregalli said. 'They are losing the rear a lot. Every time they try, they lose the rear. So they have to try to understand how to at least reduce the slide and improve the performance. Honestly I did not hear any comment because Fabio left to go and get changed but I think it was very easy to understand.' There's a lot of work for the Yamaha team tonight to go over the data to see why the soft tyre is causing so many problems. Quartararo will be praying they find a golden fix for the bike's woes.
