NYT Connections Today: Monday, July 28 Hints And Answers (#778)
Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before we get to today's Connections hints and answers, here are Sunday's:
Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the start of a new week! I'm very happy to be back with you for another weekday run of this here column.
By now you may know the drill: I very much like to kick off the Monday edition of the column with a fun, upbeat song. I really hope it helps put a smile on your face. Or, if you already have one there, maybe the tune can fill your heart with joy. I definitely don't like to put any pressure on myself.
This time around, I'm going with a song for a band I saw in my hometown on Friday night with my dad. It was part of a festival show that should have cost £62.50 ($84) for one ticket, but he got two for £10 ($13.50) each instead. He can't keep getting away with this. 'This' being his uncanny ability to score great discounts or freebies. Anyway, we both enjoyed The Fratellis, and this is their biggest hit:
Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us.
Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes.
Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Monday, July 28 are coming right up.
How To Play Connections
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app.
You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.
There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.
Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.
Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find our hints Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.

Today's Connections answers are...
A very fast solve for me today as we kick off the new week. The blues were super straightforward for the most part. I did wonder for a second if EVIDENCE might actually be part of the group since that is also something that one would collect, but my initial hunch proved to be correct.
Speaking of the word INITIAL, I had no issues with the yellows either. The same went for the greens.
I wondered if the purple connection might be "night" as in SILENT Night and DATE night, but CULT and BUDDY didn't really fit the bill. Of course they had to be linked by "movie!" How did I not get that? Honestly... Anyway, my hint for this group was a reference to something I found quite amusing several years ago.
A perfect game extends my streak to 152 wins. Can I make it to 200? We'll find out (relatively) soon enough! Here's my grid for today:

P.S. I've recommended the catchy-as-heck "Apt." by Bruno Mars and Rosé before, but this live version popped up in my YouTube feed and I loved it, so here we are. Psy (he of "Gangnam Style" megafame) held an edition of his Summer Swag concert series in Incheon, South Korea, earlier this month. Rosé appeared as a surprise guest to sing the song with him.
I absolutely adore the crowd here. The energy is off the scale. Korean audiences are something else:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!

A Vegan's Guide to the Best Bakeries and Restaurants in Paris
Brothers Bobby and Myki Stackleather are the owners of the friendly, downtown-chic restaurant Post in New York's East Village. But as vegans for eight years, they use surprising words like 'buttery' and 'sausage' when they talk about their culinary inspirations. 'I remember as a kid watching Julia Child pressing a duck,' says Myki, who takes care of Post's front-of-house operations. 'The heavy butter and the fat—it was so wonderfully rich and decadent.'

Joely Richardson Looks Back at Rare Photos of Late Sister Natasha Richardson
Joely Richardson Looks Back at Rare Photos of Late Sister Natasha Richardson originally appeared on Parade. Joely Richardson is looking back on sweet memories with her late sister, Natasha Richardson. But she's also savoring the recent ones with her beloved sister's sons, Micheál and Daniel Neeson. The Nip/Tuck star, 60, took to Instagram on Monday to share a series of photos celebrating her nephews throughout their lives, as well as her sister, who passed away at age 45 in 2009 after a ski accident. "Happy June Birthdays to All blowing out a candle this month ( such a lovely, simple tradition right?). Someone I love and adore to the moon and back is a midsummer sprite," Richardson wrote. "Micheal to go from seeing you in my sister Natasha's arms at a few days old, to you all grown up buying your aunt lunch in NY recently, and everything in between. What a pleasure it is, to walk together x #birthdays#sprite#nephews#candles." In the first photo, Joely snuggles up to Daniel Neeson, one of two of Natasha's sons with husband Liam Neeson. That's followed by several other sweet new and old photos of Joely with her nephews, as well as a poignant throwback photo of Natasha holding her son, Micheál, as a very young infant. Standing in a swimming pool with her wavy blonde hair tied back, it's clear the baby had just made his debut in the world. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 Back in May, Joely shared a message on Instagram from their mother, Vanessa Redgrave, in honor of what would have been Natasha's 62nd birthday. "Today would have been my sister Tasha's birthday. I asked my Ma if she'd like to say anything. This is what she dictated to me," Richardson shared. "'We were in Greece. We sat drinking our coffees in Constitution Square. Tony ( my late father) said if the baby was a boy we should call him Tom. I said if she was a girl I would like her to be called Natasha after Tolstoy 's 'War and Peace'. Our Natasha, as yes she was a girl, came swimming out of my womb ready for anything. I can't believe that she isn't swimming somewhere now, in one of the pools or seas we explored. I will never be reconciled to her dying in the snow, and I'm sure that every mother who has lost a child will have that pain always,'" Redgrave Richardson Looks Back at Rare Photos of Late Sister Natasha Richardson first appeared on Parade on Jul 1, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 1, 2025, where it first appeared. Fans Applaud Liam Neeson's Response to Pamela Anderson Romance Rumors originally appeared on Parade. Liam Neeson had a gentlemanly yet witty way to respond to the dating rumors with his The Naked Gun co-star Pamela Anderson. With the back-to-back promotional activities for the upcoming movie, the public couldn't help but witness the undeniable chemistry between the two actors. To set the record straight, the veteran actor dished on the truth behind the swirling romance rumors that had fans buzzing. During the co-stars' appearance on the Today Show, host Craig Melvin asked them a bold question about their off-screen connection. "There's clearly chemistry on display throughout this film. Are you two an item?" he wondered, to which the actress quickly replied, 'What? I don't understand the question,' signaling a mix of surprise and playful deflection. Interestingly, it was Neeson who delivered a lighthearted yet telling response. "I had never met Pamela before, we met on set and we have a lovely budding chemistry as two actors," he said, adding, 'And it was like, 'Oh this is nice , let's not mould this, let's just let it breathe' and that's what we did." Following his statement, the host clarified the buzz surrounding the duo. 'So that's what we're doing now, we're watching the beginning of a breathing of a budding relationship," he remarked. However, as the topic concluded, the Academy Award nominee made a playful gesture with his hands, hinting that he was stirring the pot and sparking some intrigue. Interestingly, the Taken star's cheeky answer left fans both curious and amused about how the actor responded to it. 'I love how he just rescued her from the question,' one wrote. 'I love his answer, her smile... she's blushing and so is he... this is so cute. OMGGGG,' a follower said. The same goes for a commenter who noted, 'Not gonna lie. Obsessed with these two. Also, what a sweet way to describe it.' Fans continue to praise the 73-year-old star for his honest and friendly approach to addressing the rumors. 'He's such a gentleman. Hope they're both happy,' a social media user commented. 'Not gonna lie. Obsessed with these two. Also, what a sweet way to describe their relationship without the pretense of awkwardness and denial,' another fan added. An online fan expressed the same and said, 'Very nice way he responded. Basically, they discovered they have chemistry, so just taking it slow. That's great. Just enjoy for now and what happens next happens. Beautiful together!' The pair headlines the highly anticipated movie, arriving more than 30 years after the original franchise first premiered. Set to hit theaters on August 1, Neeson takes on the role of Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin. He followed in his father's footsteps by joining the police squad, where he met Beth Davenport, played by Anderson.
