Another Strictly star has phone stolen in London as it travels across the globe

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

A third Strictly Come Dancing star had their phone stolen while out in central London. In a post shared online, they revealed their phone ended up across the globe
Yet another Strictly Come Dancing star was robbed in London as they revealed where their phone ended up. Earlier this month, both Annabel Croft and Michelle Tsiakkas revealed to fans their phones were stolen while out in the city as they issued warnings to their Instagram followers.
Michelle, 29, told fans having her phone stolen was 'traumatising' and said she felt 'awful, scared and helpless' when it happened. She explained that she was simply going about her day when a criminal whizzed past her on an electric bike and snatched her phone straight from her hand.

The star said it was early morning when she was on her way to the dentist around Covent Garden. Annabel Croft was also a victim of phone theft and recently recalled the terrifying moment she was mugged in broad daylight in the middle of London.

The brave star being the target of a criminal has prompted her to speak out to make sure others don't suffer the same issue. Annabel, who competed in the 2023 series alongside Johannes Radebe, said she was waiting for a taxi when the incident occurred.
Speaking on Instagram, Annabel detailed the moment and thanked those who rushed to her aid. "I just wanted to warn people who are on their own in London. I just got mugged waiting for a taxi outside King's Cross St Pancras," she wrote.
"The man was riding a bike and wearing a black balaclava. He rode straight at me and took my phone clean out of my hands. He rode away with it but luckily dropped my phone so I got it back. Terrifying! " Annabel added. She added: "On a positive note, there are some lovely people out there. Luckily a lovely gentleman witnessed it and came over to help me. Thank you to whoever you are."
The new Strictly curse didn't stop with Annabel as Seann Walsh recently revealed his phone was stolen in a post shared on his Instagram Stories.

Along with a screenshot from the Find My app, which showed his phone in Guangdong, China, he said: "My phone was stolen (yes, out of my hand and yes, I live in Lond) a week or so ago and it is now in China if anyone happens to be passing by."
One person urged the comedian to write a book called "It could only happen to me" and he responded: "If there are any publishers following me, I am open to this but it will be a very long book. I'm calling it Typical."

Unsettled Londoners have been left in disbelief as mobile phone theft has increased at a horrifying rate. New statistics release this month revealed that 231,000 phone thefts and robberies were recorded over the past four years in the city.
Analysis by The Times revealed hotspots in London include St James's Park, where Piccadilly and Haymarket meet Pall Mall and Clarence House as well as parts of the West End.
Figures released by Scotland Yard figures show a 20 per cent year-on-year increase in robberies - with 81,256 mobile phone crimes were recorded in 2023. The stats also showed that roughly 37 people have their phone snatched on the streets of the capital every day.

Arlene Phillips reflects her 'tough' axe from Strictly amid ageism row as she weighs in on show's bullying scandal and her own 'strict' teaching style

Arlene Phillips has opened up about her 'tough' departure from Strictly Come Dancing and the accusations of bullying on the show. The former judge, now 82, was replaced with a then 30-year-old Alesha Dixon in 2009 with no explanation, despite having decades of experience as a dancer and choreographer. The BBC was subsequently accused of ageism after Arlene, who rose to fame with the dance troupe Hot Gossip in the 1970s, found out she had been axed on the radio instead of being approached directly. The controversy surrounding the long-running TV staple was amped up a gear in 2023 when Amanda Abbington, 51, accused her dance partner, Giovanni Pernice, 34, of bullying. Arelene told The Sunday Times: 'I loved my time on Strictly and it was tough when I left, but I got up and carried on with life. 'I wasn't there when accusations of bullying were made against some of the dancers, but I was quite strict when I started teaching.' Arlene, who had two children at ages 18 and 47, explained that her offspring taught her how to communicate without losing her temper. She said: 'I realised there was a different way to talk to people when I had a child - I didn't want to lose my temper. 'There are ways to get people to do as you want without shouting.' Arlene, who most recently worked as a choreographer on Guys and Dolls, made the revelations in a new interview when she reflects on her life a decade and a half after her Strictly departure. Describing her granddaughters as the biggest joy in her life now, she said that when her mother passed away when she was just 15, she quickly learned that she had to fight for the life she wanted. Arlene said the best piece of advice she has ever been given is to 'think carefully about what you say and do to others.' Her comments come after the accusations against Giovanni were partially upheld and others came forward to share similar stories that painted a picture of a toxic working environment on Strictly. Giovanni later admitted that while he is a strict teacher, he is not a bully, telling ITV's Lorraine in September: 'Bully is a big word and there's a difference between being a bully and caring about what you do.' After six months of investigating the Sherlock actress' claims after she previously branded Giovanni 'abusive, cruel and mean', in September, the BBC announced that they did not find him physically abusive, but upheld some claims of verbal bullying and harassment and did issue an apology to Amanda. Out of 17 complaints, they upheld six, some of which are for Giovanni using swear words. The report says that his language could be 'belittling.' Sources say they found 'instances of it.' The BBC also agreed with Amanda that at times he appeared to be giving her overly negative feedback. It also concluded that there were two moments of 'inappropriate behaviour of sexual banter in the workplace' which were found to be made and received as jokes, humour and compliments of Amanda's dancing. The review has found this was a two-way, consensual way of talking and behaving. However, her complaint that he sent her a video on WhatsApp which she deemed to be inappropriate was also not upheld. The BBC did not find anything sexually inappropriate either. Arlene claims to this day that the broadcaster has still never given her a reason for axing her from the show.

A cool new bar in Brooklyn has 39 pinball machines

It's always fun when a bar has a pinball machine. Everyone ends up gathering around it, watching the silver ball zip back and forth across the playing field while keeping an eye on the ever-elusive high score. But this new bar in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood boasts not just one, not just two, but 39 pinball machines. Called Scrappleland, the pinball bar is the latest venture from the team behind Brooklyn's beloved Sunshine Laundromat, a functioning laundromat with pinball machines and a bar in the back. The new spot doesn't have any laundry machines; instead, it's dedicated to fast-paced pinball and smooth-flowing drinks. Among the 39 pinball machines, you'll find games with the following themes: Lost in Space, Galactic Tank Force, The Big Lebowski, Spider-Man, The Addams Family, Batman, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and Stranger Things, to name a few. Each one is in excellent condition, even the more vintage models, making the player experience a blast. "The pinball machines keep multiplying!" as Scrappleland's Alison Bisset puts it. So you might just see even more machines when you visit next. If you want to put your pinball prowess to the test, the venue often hosts tournaments with MatchPlay, the NYC MatchPlay Pinball League, and the International Flipper Pinball Association. While you'll get to play against people in your same level, you'll also get to compete against some of the top amateur players in the region. Keep on eye on Scrappleland's Instagram for more details. View this post on Instagram A post shared by @scrappleland Scrappleland is set up with the pinball machines in long rows with low light, so you can truly appreciate the colorful glow of each machine. There's plenty of seating at the bar and at high-top tables throughout the venue. In addition to pinball, the retro retreat also offers a rooftop area with cornhole and a colorful water tower sculpture by local artist Tom Fruin.
