CHECK YOUR IPHONE'S BATTERY USAGE
Here's what you need to do...
You can see a quick overview of your battery level and activity by going to Settings > Battery.
Tap a time period to see your Activity graph for the last 24 hours, or a set number of days.
You can also see a list of apps that contributed to your battery usage.
And it'll display the amount of battery that was used by each individual app.
You can see how long each app was in use on the screen, as well as in the background.
Apple explains that you might see the following usage types:
Background Activity means that most of the app's battery usage — such as playing music or tracking location — happened while the app was in the background.
No Cell Coverage and Low Signal means that your device was searching for a signal or being used with a low signal.
Connected to Charger means the app was used only when your device was charging.
If you're worried about battery life and can't get to a charger right away, consider turning Low Power Mode on to preserve it.
You can find this feature in your battery settings.

I tested OnePlus Pad 3 for two months to see if tablet could replace my laptop
I've been using the new OnePlus flagship tablet every day now for a couple of months. It came hot on the heels of last year's OnePlus Pad 2 which I said was 'ideal for streaming TV shows, watching movies, reading e-books and magazines and browsing websites'. It was one of a number of tablets I reviewed in 2024 that hoped to challenge the dominance of Apple iPad in the market. READ MORE: I tested HoverAir X1 ProMax drone - the world's first 8K flying selfie camera you can take anywhere READ MORE: DJI Mic Mini review: is this the best compact wireless microphone set-up for most people? Then along came the OnePlus Pad 3 and I ditched my Windows laptop for a couple of months to see if the Android tablet can replace the notebook for both work and play. It's a large 13.2in tablet with a dazzling display, premium design and build, outstanding performance and superb battery life, all priced to compete alongside Apple's iPad Air in the mid-range market space. OnePlus Pad 3 in everyday use Split screen working is easy on the large OnePlus Pad 3 display (Image: Mark Kavanagh) The OnePlus Pad 3 looks and feels the part of a premium tablet. Measuring less than 6mm thin, the device has a metal unibody design to ensure it is super strong and bend resistant. It weighs just 675g so it's light enough to take everywhere with you. My review unit is a hue that the company calls Storm Blue. The tablet's large, pin-sharp, 13.2in LCD display comes with 3.4k resolution, 12-bit colour depth, 900 nits of peak brightness and a pixel density of 315 PPI (pixels per inch). The refresh rate is a superfast 144Hz but there is no LTPO tech so it only goes down to 60Hz. The firm said it opted for an LCD panel to ensure it could include a high resolution and high refresh rate without adding too much cost pressure on the tablet's price point. The keyboard can be detached from the kickstand cover which is so handy (Image: Mark Kavanagh) Even without OLED, the screen is one of the most compelling features of the tablet and is perfect for displaying everything from blockbuster movies to your latest work presentation. And its unique 7:5 aspect ratio means multitasking is an absolute breeze. The screen is TÜV Rheinland Eye Care certified, which means it is easier on your eyes over long periods. Eight symmetrically placed speakers - four woofers and four tweeters - add to the immersive media consumption experience. And the Holo Audio feature adds spatial audio into the mix. Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, the most powerful mobile system-on-chip on the market, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM that should be all the power you need for high-end productivity or intensive gaming. The model I tested had 12GB of RAM but I never noticed any lag or stutter - it breezed through everything I threw at it. Portrait orientation is great for viewing magazines and newspapers on OnePlus Pad 3 (Image: Mark Kavanagh) OnePlus Pad 3 runs OxygenOS 15 atop Android 15 out of the box. The slick and highly customisable software runs fast and fluidly. OnePlus multitasking features (Open Canvas, split screen and floating windows) meant I could run multiple apps simultaneously even with a couple of dozen tabs open on Chrome. On a working day I was able to carry out all of my usual laptop-run tasks without any issues. You also get Android 15 AI features such as Circle to Search and writing assistant tools. I've been using the OnePlus Pad 3 with the firm's Smart Keyboard. It seamlessly connects to the tablet using the built-in pogo pins and no Bluetooth connection is needed. The accompanying stand can be adjusted to a range of angles, just like a laptop. The keyboard is detachable from the kickstand which is handy but it is not backlit. The typing experience is pleasing and each key offers a good amount of travel. There's a spacious and responsive trackpad too, although I generally prefer using a mouse with any laptop or tablet set-up. The keyboard includes a dedicated AI key that launches Gemini instantly. The O+ Connect app enables you to wirelessly transfer files between your tablet and both Mac and iOS devices. You can also share files easily with Windows computers using the Phone Link app. And naturally, Pad 3 can file share, screen mirror and sync notifications seamlessly with OnePlus smartphones. App Relay means you can start an app on your phone and continue where you left off on your tablet. OnePlus Pad 3 other features The rear of OnePlus Pad 13 (Image: Mark Kavanagh) The OnePlus Pad 3 is also compatible with the firm's Stylo 2 pen, which I asked an artist friend to test Stylo 2 for drawing and illustration on the tablet. She was pleased with its pressure sensitivity and haptic feedback and rated it almost as highly as Apple Pencil. The tablet lives up to its billing as gamer-friendly. On titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile, PUBG Mobile and Real Racing 3, gameplay was smooth and stable at 120 frames per second (fps). The impressive cooling system means the device never got too warm or hot. There's a 13MP rear camera that I never use, while the 8MP front-facing camera is sensibly centred for video calls. It captures video at full HD resolution at 30fps and the quality is acceptable and superior to many laptops. And it can grab decent quality selfie still images. The OnePlus Pad 3 looks and feels premium and even with keyboard attached it is slim and light enough to carry anywhere (Image: Mark Kavanagh) Battery life from the large 12,140mAh power pack is rated at up to 17 hours - almost double some rival tablets. It never failed to last more than a full busy working day. It supports 80W wired charging and you can recharge it fully in about 90 minutes. There is not LTE or 5G connectivity but you get Bluetooth 5.4, Wifi 7 and the USB-C port is Gen 3.2 with data transfer speeds of 5Gbps. There is support for an array of audio codecs including aptX HD, LDAC and LHDC. The main downside when compared to the iPad Air, for example, is the tablet app ecosystem on Google Play Store is nowhere near as vast as the one on Apple's App Store. But this is an issue that affects all Android tablets, even high-end Samsung devices that cost more than double the price of OnePlus Pad 3. Also Apple offers more than double the number of OS upgrades that OnePlus is delivering. Pad 3 owners will only get updated to Android 18, with the move up to Android 16 coming later this year or early next year. OnePlus is promising six years of security patches, however. OnePlus Pad 3 verdict OnePlus Pad 3 is one of the most compelling tablets of 2025 (Image: Mark Kavanagh) Overall, OnePlus Pad 3 is one of the best tablets you can buy in 2025. It combines a premium hardware and software experience at a competitive iPad Air price point. You get a fantastic display, amazing battery life and high-end performance. Pricing and availability OnePlus Pad 3 is on sale at for €599 (12GB/256GB) and €699 (16GB/512GB). The Stylo 2 accessory is €99, the Smart Keyboard is €169 but currently reduced to €84 and the folio case is €59. You can get Stylo 2 free if you buy the tablet on the OnePlus website. You can also buy a range of OnePlus products on Amazon. For comparison, Apple iPad Air prices start at €729 on Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.

Secret ‘enhanced mode' on MILLIONS of phones stops your bank from being wiped out – & takes five taps to switch on
It works on Android and iPhone too MODE RED Secret 'enhanced mode' on MILLIONS of phones stops your bank from being wiped out – & takes five taps to switch on MILLIONS of phone owners can upgrade to an "enhanced" mode that busts scams and hacks using AI – and it doesn't cost a penny. It's an official Google feature tucked away in your settings that only takes five taps to activate. 4 Head into your Google Chrome settings right now Credit: Google / The Sun 4 Look under the Privacy and Security tab Credit: Google / The Sun The brainy feature uses AI to spot scams and dangerous websites even when they haven't been reported or flagged by Google. Instead, AI scans the web page (or download) to work out if it's dangerous. And then it can warn you before you get caught in a bank-emptying scam, installing phone-hijacking malware, or some other costly con. Normally Google Chrome defaults you to Standard Browsing, but you can switch to Enhanced Protection in just a few seconds. HOW DOES ENHANCED PROTECTION WORK? Google says it "warns you about dangerous sites, even ones that Google didn't know about before". It works by analysing more data about a website than the standard protection. Normally Standard Protection would flag known unsafe sites. But Enhanced Protection can work out whether a site is dangerous all on its own. You can still choose to ignore the warning and skip past it if you like. It'll also do "in-depth scans" on suspicious downloads. WhatsApp bans MILLIONS of users in major crackdown amid safety alert And it also warns you if you've used a password that has been "compromised in a breach". Google does issue a potential privacy warning however. "When you visit a site, Chrome sends the URL of the site and a small sample of page content, extension activity and system information to Google Safe Browsing to check if they're potentially harmful," Google explained. "Including in-depth scans of suspicious downloads. Info sent to Google Safe Browsing is only used for security purposes." 4 You can upgrade your Safe Browsing levels with a quick tap Credit: Google / The Sun Google also says it won't slow down your browser or device if you switch the feature on. HOW TO ACTIVATE ENHANCED BROWSING If you've got an Android phone, go to the Chrome web browser. Then tap on More > Settings > Privacy & Security > Safe Browsing. Now select Enhanced Protection from the list of Safe Browsing options. GOOGLE PROTECTION LEVELS Here's the official list from Google... Enhanced protection: Google's most secure browsing experience, enhanced protection offers security from known and potential new dangers. The ultimate subscription swaps to save you £100s on TV, mobile and more – & some switches are completely FREE
Find out how to get Disney+ a whole year for nothing - plus a hidden Spotify Premium saving MISSED APP-ORTUNITY The ultimate subscription swaps to save you £100s on TV, mobile and more – & some switches are completely FREE BRITS spend a staggering £696 per year on subscriptions - and prices keep going up. But with a few simple swaps, you could instantly save without missing out on your favourite shows, music and services. 6 Some swaps are done in a matter of seconds with a couple of button taps Credit: Getty Digital subscriptions have become commonplace for everything from Netflix and Prime to iCloud and PlayStation Plus. Just this week, Spotify announced that it's hiking fees for millions globally (though Brits have been spared for now). It's become a regular theme, year after year, that many find hard to sustain. Here, we reveal some of the easy ways to reduce your subscription bills. Amazon Prime Maximum saving: £36 per year 6 Scale back Prime and save Credit: Getty There are various ways you can cut the cost of Amazon Prime - and it really depends on how you use it. If you don't really get that many deliveries and just use Prime Video, there's a little-known discount available to everyone. An Amazon Prime Video only option costs £5.99 a month, versus the full-fat Amazon Prime that's £8.99 a month. Switch and save £3 a month - or £36 per year. If you want to keep Amazon Prime deliveries and everything else, there is a way to get that a bit cheaper too. O2 customers can add Prime to their overall bill for a £2 airtime discount. Don't forget, if you're a student, you can get Prime even cheaper with a huge six-month free trial. Cloud storage Maximum saving: £15.99 per year 6 There are loads of alternatives to iCloud Credit: Getty It's important to keep your precious photos safe by backing them up to a cloud service. iCloud is most popular for iPhone, starting at 99p a month for 50GB (£11.88 for a year), while Google Drive is £1.59 for 100GB (there's a cheaper annual version for £15.99). However, few realise there are free options right under their nose. There are several ways you can go about this. If you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, you get free unlimited photo storage with Amazon Photos. Those who don't subscribe to Amazon Prime can access plenty of free options not tied to an existing subscription. For starters, everyone (iPhone or Android) get 15GB free with a Google account on Google Drive. You can spread your backups across several apps too, including: Box - 10GB free OneDrive - 5GB free Dropbox - 2GB free Amazon Photos - 5GB free (without a subscription) If you want to stick with iCloud, there is another way to cut the cost. Club together with family and get an Apple One subscription instead. The family plan costs £24.95 a month for six people (including yourself) which works out £4.16 each. You don't just get storage, you all get Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade, so you could save further if you're subscribed to these or similar too. Spotify Maximum saving: £12 per year 6 A quick adjustment to Spotify can save up to £2 Credit: Getty Most people will know that the best way to reduce Spotify Premium costs is by joining with other household members. A family subscription with six members onboard costs £19.99, while an individual plan costs £11.99. Whether you're part of a family or individual plan, you can take the cost down by £2 or £1 a mont,h respectively. It turns out you're paying extra for the privilege of audiobooks. If this doesn't interest you, you can downgrade to Family Basic or Individual Basic - everything will be the same, you just won't be able to listen to audiobooks. Disney+ Maximum saving: £39.91 per year (plus free deliveries on takeaways) 6 Get Disney+ free - and other perks too Credit: Getty Disney+ is a favourite in many households, what with all the classic movies and new series like Only Murders In The Building and The Bear among others. A standard subscription comes in at £89.90 for the year. But you could trim almost £40 off and gain other benefits such as free and cheaper takeaway deliveries. Uber is giving away free Disney+ for up to a year when you subscribe to an annual Uber One pass. Uber One gives you discounts on rides as well, so you can really stretch those savings wider. Netflix Maximum saving: £84 per year 6 Time to downgrade Netflix for a massive £13 a month saving? Credit: Getty If you can't live without Netflix but hate paying £18.99 a month you might consider downgrading. The Standard with adverts option is £5.99 instead, saving a whooping £13 a month (or £84 for the year). As the name suggests, this means you will get advert breaks though - and the video quality is lower too. But for those that don't mind this is an easy saving. Give these simple switches a go and you could save well over £100.
