Fitness and sports gear label Boldfit has named Indian cricketer Arshdeep Singh as its latest brand athlete, further expanding its athlete-first portfolio. Singh joins fellow cricketer KL Rahul, who is also the brand's first investor.
'I have always believed in doing things with full power, on and off the field," said Arshdeep Singh about his new role, India Retailing reported. "Boldfit gets that vibe. It's not just good-looking gear- it's made for how athletes train, recover and live. I'm excited to build this."
The announcement was made through a social media campaign that featured a casual exchange between KL Rahul and Arshdeep Singh, followed by visuals of Arshdeep in Boldfit apparel. Styled in a Gen Z format, the campaign generated strong engagement, resonating with India's fitness-conscious youth, according to the business.
'We started Boldfit to create a brand rooted in real athletic journeys," said Boldfit's founder Pallav Bihani. "KL Rahul gave us that foundation. With Arshdeep coming on board, we're doubling down on our mission to make Boldfit an athlete-first, performance-led brand. We're excited to co-create products with Arshdeep, tailored for the Indian fitness consumer."
Headquartered in Bengaluru, Boldfit develops performance wear and fitness gear for athletes at all levels, with a focus on functionality, quality, and community-led innovation, according to its website. Boldfit has also recently expanded its official sports team merchandise with a wide range of IPL related products.

Skin Beauty Pal & Pers Active Lab launches in India

Skin Beauty Pal & Per Active Lab (SBP & PAL), a global skincare-tech company from Taiwan has officially launched in the Indian market with their skincare line 'Pers Active Lab' and analysis device line 'Skin Beauty Pal'. The brand claims that its mobile app 'Skin Beauty Pal' offers dermatologist-level accuracy in identifying concerns such as acne, pigmentation, wrinkles, and redness. It further offers customised skincare solutions from the 'Pers Active Lab' range. Commenting on the launch, Grant Kuo, founder CEO of Digital Doctor, the parent company behind SBP & PAL said, 'With over 40 years in tech, I believe the most effective way to solve every problem is to start with root-cause analysis, then target solutions that deliver better, fast results. That's how we built Skin Beauty Pal and Pers Active Lab by cutting the guesswork with AI diagnostics and using only a few clinically proven, high-impact ingredients in optimal balance. It's the 'Power of Less' approach.' 'With a rising demand for personalised skincare and a tech-savvy, appearance-conscious population aged 25-40, India presents the ideal market. Clinics and dermatologists in India will also benefit through SaaS integrations, offering ERP/CRM tools and a direct link to patients through the app's measurement and consultation ecosystem,' he added. As part of its India strategy, Skin Beauty Pal plans to enable aesthetic clinics to become integrated partners through a powerful ERP and CRM system.

Indian police arrest two after deadly cricket stampede: reports

Hundreds of thousands packed the streets in the southern city of Bengaluru on Wednesday to welcome home their hero Virat Kohli and his RCB cricket team after they beat Punjab Kings in the final of the Indian Premier League. But the euphoria of the vast crowds ended in disaster when 11 mainly young fans died in a stampede near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the players were parading the trophy. Karnataka state's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Friday he had directed police to arrest the representatives of RCB, event organisers DNA, and Karnataka State Cricket Association. While there has been no official confirmation of the arrests, Siddaramaiah said a first information report, which marks the start of a police investigation, had been "registered against them". Media outlet India Today said that Nikhil Sosale, RCB's head of marketing, was arrested at Bengaluru's airport. The Indian Express newspaper also reported Sosale was arrested along with an executive from an event management company. The deaths have sparked widespread anger, and top police officers including the city's police commissioner have been suspended. Local media reported that the accusations include culpable homicide, not amounting to murder, among others. There was no immediate comment from RCB. 'Made to pay' Siddaramaiah, who only uses one name, also pointed the finger at some senior police. "These officers appear to be irresponsible and negligent and it has been decided to suspend them," Siddaramaiah said. The dead were aged between 14 and 29, and were among a sea of people who had poured onto the streets to catch a glimpse of their heroes. RCB offered financial aid of $11,655 to each family of the victims, calling the deaths "unfortunate". Indian media have widely reported the team earned $2.3 million in prize money alone for taking the title on Wednesday. Kohli, who top-scored in the final, said he was "at a loss for words" after the celebrations of a first IPL crown turned to tragedy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the accident "absolutely heartrending". Siddaramaiah has said that the stadium had a capacity of 35,000 people "but 200,000-300,000 people came". Deadly crowd incidents are a frequent occurrence at Indian mass events such as religious festivals due to poor crowd management and safety lapses. "The grim truth is that the fan, who drives the commerce of every sport, is the last priority for administrators," The Hindu newspaper wrote in its editorial on Friday. "Asphyxia was the primary cause of death besides injuries suffered in the stifling rush," it added. The pioneering IPL sold its broadcast rights in 2022 for five seasons to global media giants for an eye-popping $6.2 billion, putting it up amongst the highest-ranked sport leagues in cost-per-match terms. "The world's richest cricket tournament can't cut corners when it comes to fans' safety," the Indian Express newspaper wrote in an editorial. "A fitting tribute to those dead, therefore, is not mere signing a cheque but holding those in charge responsible -- ensuring that heads roll, and those who dropped the ball Wednesday are made to pay."

Plush raises Rs 40 crore, achieves EBITDA-level profitability

Indian personal care brand Plush has raised Rs 40 crore in a growth round led by Rahul Garg, with participation from Blume Founders Fund, OTP Ventures, Careernet, the Patni Family Office, Sumit Jalan, Ajay Kumar Aggarwal, and other strategic investors. The business has also reached profitability at the level of earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation. With only Rs 26 crore raised prior to this round, Plush's Rs 100 crore net annual recurring revenue and EBITDA-level profitability positions it as a standout example of capital-efficient growth in India's direct to customer landscape, the business announced in a press release. The company now aims to double its ARR to Rs 200 crore, supported by strong consumer loyalty and a focus on sustainable scaling. 'Plush has the right building blocks in place– it's a loved brand with a strong emotional connect and repeat behaviour," said investor Rahul Garg in a press release. "What sets them apart is their ability to scale with capital efficiency, without losing sight of quality or growth." Founded in 2019 by Prince Kapoor and Ketan Munoth, Plush's portfolio spans period care, intimate wellness, hair removal, and self-care. The brand reported an 84% year-on-year revenue growth in the 2024 financial year and expects to report a revenue total of Rs 65 crore for the 2025 fiscal. 'This capital will help us deepen our market presence, expand our offline footprint, and invest in the kind of brand-building that makes Plush the go-to personal care brand for everyday wellness,' said Kapoor. The company was advised by Synapse Partners for the funding round.
