Nick Chubb is not expected to return to the Cleveland Browns after the team brought in two rookie running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft. That has left the door open to other teams swooping in to land the longtime star.
Unfortunately, back in the 2023 NFL season, Chubb suffered a gruesome knee injury for the second time in his career while playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He came back last season to play in eight games, but he did not look like his former self.
At this point, Chubb remains a free agent. However, with the 2025 season coming up quickly, teams who need running back help could come calling soon.

"I was told that he's hoping to sign here soon, and maybe he gets something done before a minicamp gets into a team. Four-time Pro Bowler," Fowler said.
"The return to Cleveland's not totally off the table, from what I'm told, but probably unlikely because of their draft plans, they drafted multiple running backs. I'm told Houston could be one to watch here. They've been looking at that running back market, maybe adding somebody with Joe Mixon."
Joining the Texans would be a very intriguing situation for Chubb. He would team up with Joe Mixon in the backfield. Both veteran running backs could help each other stay fresh and healthy.
In the eight games that he played with the Browns last season, Chubb carried the football 102 times for 332 yards and three scores, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. Those numbers are not what fans have become used to seeing.
At 29 years old, there is still time for Chubb to get his career back on track. If he can land in the right situation, he could bounce back with a strong 2025 campaign.

Last season, Houston finished the year with a 10-7 record and won the AFC South. The Texans then went on to knock off the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs before being eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Adding Chubb would give them another offensive weapon. For Chubb, it would give him a chance to play a key role while also competing for the playoffs.
It may not happen, but the fit makes sense for both parties.

Red Sox Get Encouraging Update on $120 Million Free Agent Signing

Red Sox Get Encouraging Update on $120 Million Free Agent Signing originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Red Sox may be getting the spark they desperately need, with star third baseman Alex Bregman making encouraging progress in his recovery from a right quad strain. Advertisement Bregman, who landed on the 10-day injured list on May 24, has begun a running progression and is currently traveling with the team for their series against the New York Yankees. Though the injury was initially described by manager Alex Cora as 'significant' and similar to the quad strain that sidelined Bregman for over two months in 2021, signs point to a faster recovery this time around. Tim Heitman-Imagn Images 'If it's up to him, he'd be playing tonight,' Cora joked ahead of Friday's series opener in the Bronx. 'He's locked in. He has his date on his mind. We just have to keep working. Obviously, we don't want to rush, and we have to be very diligent with it. But he's feeling great.' Cora admitted the rehab process has gone better than expected, though he declined to reveal a target return date for Bregman. The three-time All-Star was playing like a true centerpiece before the injury, slashing .299/.385/.553 with 11 home runs, 17 doubles, and 35 RBIs across 51 games. His .938 OPS led Boston at the time of his injury. Bregman signed a three-year, $120 million contract with Boston this offseason and had been a stabilizing force both offensively and defensively at third base. Advertisement His absence has been felt, with the Red Sox going 3-7 in their last 10 games and falling to fourth place in the American League East. They now trail the division-leading Yankees by 9.5 games but sit just 4.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. Dallas Cowboys Coach Shares Inspiring Message for Micah Parsons

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. What started out as a joke for Micah Parsons turned out to be a heartfelt viral moment for the Dallas Cowboys star and his new head coach. Recently, there's been a boom in NFL players taking a shot at a viral TikTok trend, which is as simple as calling your friends and simply telling them goodnight. While it sounds like nothing worthy of a viral video, the reactions from players on the other end of the line typically generate a funny moment since it's not all that common for pro football players to call their teammates just to say one thing and wrap up the call. Micah Parsons went through a round of calls with several Cowboys teammates, including Tyler Smith, Trevon Diggs, Osa Odighizuwa, and KaVontae Turpin. Parsons took it a step further and reached out to his head coach, Brian Schottenheimer. The call turned into a positive moment for Parsons and Schottenheimer, who are entering their first season working together in the NFL. "Okay, I love that, bro. What's going on, you all good?" a slightly concerned Schottenheimer fired back. Once assured everything was great, the head coach let off his message, which clearly sat right with Parsons. "I know this is weird for everybody, man, but look, you're handling everything the right way, bro," the head coach said. "This thing's going to get worked out. Again, I'm thrilled to see where we take this thing, man. We're building something special and you're going to be a huge part of it, bro." ARLINGTON, TX - DECEMBER 22: Micah Parsons #11 of the Dallas Cowboys walks towards the locker room against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during an NFL football game at AT&T Stadium on December 22, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. Micah Parsons shares what Cowboys need to do to bounce back in 2025. MoreCurrently, Parsons' situation has plenty of eyes on it as the star pass rusher is in search of a new contract. The 26-year-old is looking to land a big deal to become one of the top-paid players on the defensive side of the ball, rightfully so. Over the past four seasons, Parsons has appeared in 63 games for the Cowboys. He's generated 256 tackles (63 for a loss) and 52.5 sacks. Despite appearing in just 11 games last year, Parsons still got to the quarterback 12 times, coming just two sacks shy of tying his career-high, which was achieved in 18 games. Right now, Parsons and the Cowboys are still working out his contract situation, leading many to speculate whether Parsons will be a holdout or not. This upcoming week, the Cowboys will hold mandatory minicamp. While all signs point to Parsons showing up and being a part of the action, anything can happen. The Cowboys can only hope that Parsons remains patient as he desires a new deal. Meanwhile, the Cowboys can sleep good at night knowing that Parsons' bond with his head coach is tight, despite the little bit of drama going on.
