Director general of information
and vice chairman of MDDA Banshidhar Tiwari emphasized that maintaining humanity is essential even in the age of Artificial Intelligence. He urged everyone to understand their responsibilities in today's technological era.
On the occasion of
National Public Relations Day
, a workshop was organized on Monday in Dehradun by the Dehradun Chapter of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI). The theme of the workshop was "
Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence
: Role of Public Relations."
The workshop was inaugurated by chief guest Tiwari, along with Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, joint director of information; Vijay Thapliyal, CEO of Badrikedar Temple Committee; and Ravi Vijarania, president of PRSI Dehradun Chapter, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
In his address, Tiwari stated that in this era of rapid technological advancement, it is our collective responsibility to uphold human values. He noted that while AI saves time, we must be mindful of how we use that saved time. He encouraged staying connected with both social media and family/society. Before forwarding or sharing any information, it is vital to verify its authenticity, as misinformation can have a negative impact on individuals and society alike. While AI can generate content, integrating personal thoughts and experiences is essential. Responsible use of AI is our duty, and there is a growing need to raise awareness about it.
Upadhyay remarked that every new technology brings challenges, as well as new opportunities and possibilities. As AI becomes more prevalent, it is crucial to set boundaries on its use. He emphasized that we must not become entirely dependent on AI and should maintain our own capabilities. In the field of public relations, AI should remain a supporting tool. There is a need to educate the public about the benefits and potential harms of AI.
Thapliyal said that while AI can provide almost everything, it cannot replicate emotions, which are unique to humans. He suggested viewing AI as both a boon and a challenge.
Technical exper Akash Sharma gave a presentation on "Responsible Use of
AI in Public Relations
." He explained that AI is not replacing us but is making our work more effective. Public relations is a people-centric field, and AI helps enhance speed and accuracy. He also introduced various AI tools like ChatGPT, Canva AI, Google Forms, Mentimeter, SlidesAI, Buffer/ Hootsuite, Meltwater / Brand24, Talkwalker, Google Alerts, Later, SocialBee, Mailchimp and Hunter among others.

OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT's image generation on WhatsApp

OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT's image generation feature on WhatsApp now. The AI chatbot's image generation gained popularity earlier this year after GPT-4o launched updated text-to-image capabilities leading to a viral trend of Ghibli-style images. The feature has been launched globally in all regions and will be free for all users, OpenAI said in a statement. ChatGPT announced an integration into WhatsApp last year in December. Users can text on 1-800-ChatGPT to chat with the bot directly on the platform. ChatGPT will request users to verify their identity and link their free, Pro or Plus accounts. Initially, ChatGPT on WhatsApp was just limited to texts and added image and voice capabilities later in February this year.

OpenAI wins $200 mn contract with Pentagon to pilot AI for defence tasks

OpenAI will work with the Defense Department to come up with ways that AI can help with administrative tasks, such as getting health care for US military members and helping prevent cyberattacks Bloomberg OpenAI has won a $200 million contract for a pilot program aimed at helping the US Defense Department determine how it could use artificial intelligence for a range of administrative and security tasks. The one-year contract, which the Defense Department disclosed Monday, is the latest push by the ChatGPT-maker to sell its technology to the US government. As part of the effort, OpenAI will work with the Defense Department to come up with ways that AI can help with administrative tasks, such as getting health care for US military members and helping prevent cyberattacks. OpenAI for Government consolidates all of OpenAI's existing government projects in one area of the company, including ChatGPT Gov — a version of ChatGPT meant for government workers — as well as its work with Nasa, the National Institutes of Health, the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Treasury Department. The company also said late last year that it would partner with weapons maker Anduril Industries Inc. to build AI for anti-drone systems, in another sign of its expanding work with the US government, particularly around national security. In recent months, OpenAI has said that it plans to build out AI tools that uphold democratic values. The AI startup has also brought in a former top Pentagon official to lead its national security policy team and added the former head of the National Security Agency to its board.
