
475 new teachers to join Ministry of Education

A total of 475 graduates are undergoing their appointment procedures to join the Ministry of Education as new teachers starting from the 2025-2026 academic year.
The formalities take place at Dohat Al Adab School in the Wilayat of Bausher.
The would-be teachers will undergo several appointment procedures including personal interviews, filling in security forms and administrative forms as well as the verification of academic qualifications.
The candidates for teaching jobs will also complete appointment forms for employees subject to the Civil Service Law and its executive regulations, as well as completing procedures for receiving medical examinations and opening bank accounts.
The new teachers' specialisations include mathematics, physics, information technology, music skills, fine arts, first and second fields, Arabic language, English language, chemistry and biology. — ONA

MoE's summer programme in South Sharqiyah starts July 13
Sur – Ministry of Education (MoE) will launch its 2025 summer programme under the theme 'Saifi: Communication and Growth' in South Sharqiyah starting Sunday, July 13 and ending on Thursday, July 24. The annual event reflects the ministry's ongoing commitment to engaging students during the summer break in meaningful and skill-building activities that contribute to their overall development. The programme is designed to make productive use of students' free time, nurture their talent, enhance their skills and reinforce values of national identity, loyalty and belonging. It seeks to provide a safe and enriching environment that supports character-building and community engagement among youth. According to Dr Othman bin Abdulrahman al Balushi, Director of Department of Career Guidance and Student Counselling and head of the programme's local committee, it offers an opportunity to channel students' energy in constructive activities. It also aims to cultivate their sense of responsibility, citizenship and connection to the homeland and leadership. The 2025 summer programme will feature a broad spectrum of enriching activities spanning social, cultural, scientific, literary, sports and entrepreneurial fields. It will also include voluntary initiatives and awareness sessions addressing social and educational issues conducted in collaboration with several government institutions. These sessions aim to promote positive values rooted in Omani society and Islamic teachings, while fostering innovation and encouraging students to explore their creative potential. Targeting students from Grade 5 to 11, the programme will be held at four centres across the governorate – Lubabah bint al Harith Centre in Sur, Al Hassan al Basri Centre in Al Kamil Wal Wafi, Uqbah bin Nafi Centre in Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, and Seeh Sanda Centre in Jalan Bani Bu Ali. A total of 400 students are expected to participate in this year's edition.

Community initiative launched in Al Sharqiyah North
IBRA: The initiative titled 'Our Safe Home' was kicked off on Thursday in the Wilayat of Ibra, Al Sharqiyah North Governorate. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Social Development across the Sultanate of Oman, aims to enhance family security and build a home environment based on understanding, affection and respect. The initiative focuses on consolidating positive dialogue and promoting shared values that contribute to establishing a safe and stable environment that supports the psychological and social development of all family members. The initiative was launched by the Ministry as a means to address modern life challenges facing families, including the impact of social media on family bonds and the value system. Key objectives of the initiative include highlighting contemporary educational challenges, introducing positive parenting skills and raising the awareness of young people, notably those preparing to get married, so that they could take more informed decisions. In addition, the initiative aims to help specialists by providing them with early warning signals of psychological and behavioural problems among students. The overall concept of 'Our Safe Home' initiative is to build more socially-aware and stable families that are capable of facing the challenges of modern time. Summer skills programme launched in Suhar, Khaboura & Shinas
Suhar – As part of its efforts to nurture young talent, Ministry of Labour (MoL), represented by the vocational colleges in Suhar, Khaboura and Shinas, has launched a series of specialised training programmes for school students in cooperation with North Batinah Governor's Office. Called Our Summer: Skills and Creativity, the programmes aim to equip students with practical skills that enhance their talents and prepare them for real-life situations. The programmes provide an interactive environment where participants can exchange ideas, experiences and questions. A ministry official stated that the series reflects the ministry's vision to support the younger generation by developing their capabilities through hands-on vocational training. The programmes taking place at Shinas Vocational College are focused on the fundamentals of the English language, basics of electricity and physics, drawing, refrigeration and air conditioning, welding, and fabrication. Khaboura Vocational College is conducting training in 3D model design, printing and assembly, marine safety, distress response and safe navigation. Suhar Vocational College is offering sessions on home water maintenance, wood design and shaping, painting, and decoration. The training programmes are part of MoL's broader aim to prepare students for the future by bridging the gap between academic learning and the technical skills required in the labour market.
