This Trump critic wants Gloria Gaynor to turn down Kennedy Center Honors

President Donald Trump's Kennedy Center Honors selections are set, but one critic is urging a recipient to turn it down. Trump announced the five honorees on Wednesday, Aug. 13: Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, Michael Crawford, KISS and Gloria Gaynor. But in an Instagram post Aug. 14, "The View" Co-host Ana Navarro called on Gaynor, in particular, to reject the honor. Navarro recalled meeting the "I Will Survive" singer at a Miami concert, where she was gifted a keychain that played the iconic disco anthem. She said during the "first Trump term, I pressed it til it ran out of batteries." "Look, the woman is a goddess and deserves all the flowers that come her way," Navarro, 53, added. "But I wish she wouldn't accept an award from the hands of a man who has attacked the rights and history of women, people of color and LGBTQ (people)." The political strategist continued: "The gay community, in particular, helped turn her signature song into an anthem. Trump is a stain on the prestige and significance of the KCH. Don't do it, Gloria!" Trump, who named himself chairman of the Kennedy Center earlier this year, said he was pretty involved in the selection process and also plans to host the honors after organizers allegedly begged him to fill the role, arguing he would bring better ratings. KISS frontman Gene Simmons, who has previously called out the president, said he was "deeply honored" by the recognition, according to a statement to TMZ that was confirmed by Billboard. Singer and guitarist Paul Stanley added the honor "cannot be overstated," while former guitarist Ace Frehley called it a "dream come true that I never thought would materialize." KISS' former drummer Peter Criss said, "I feel so blessed. This is the greatest honor of our career." The show will air later this year on CBS. In February, Trump announced a massive overhaul at the Kennedy Center, which included the termination of multiple board of trustees members, including Chairman David Rubenstein. In his remarks on Aug. 13, the president reiterated the desire to restore the center to what he saw as its former glory and to end its elevation of "woke" material. Contributing: Anna Kaufman

Nick Cannon slammed for dismissing the term ‘co-parenting': ‘What else would you call it?'

For most parents, co-parenting isn't a buzzword. It's survival. However, for Nick Cannon, father of 12 children, it's not even a thing. He doesn't believe in the term at all. Advertisement On a recent episode of his podcast, Nick Cannon @ Night, he answered a fan's question about how he manages multiple co-parenting relationships while dating. Labels aren't the problem, Nick The star shares his children with six women: Monroe and Moroccan with Mariah Carey, Golden, Powerful, and Rise with Brittany Bell, Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa, Legendary with Bre Tiesi, Onyx with LaNisha Cole, and Halo and Zen with Alyssa Scott. 5 On a recent episode of his podcast, Nick Cannon said his is not a fan of the term co-parenting. It's a unique situation that could offer some real insights for blended families,' the listener wrote. Advertisement Cannon's response? He's 'always kind of had an issue' with the term co-parenting. He believes we should just call it 'parenting.' 'When you start throwing labels on things, I think it does more harm than help and can get very dangerous, because then everybody else has a preconceived notion of what you're doing,' he explained. 5 'When you start throwing labels on things, I think it does more harm than help and can get very dangerous,' the dad of 12 said. nickcannon/Instagram 'I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't gotten it all the way right. But… if I just step into every situation with respect and compassion and individuality… that's the other thing I always do with anyone I'm involved with in my life.' Advertisement Easy for him to say. Just last month, the guy with a self-proclaimed 'king complex' forgot the names of two of his children when asked if he'd consider having more. 5 'I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't gotten it all the way right,' Cannon said, who previously forgot the names of his twins. Instagram/nickcannon On 'The Really Good Podcast' with Bobbi Althoff, he rattled off ten, paused mid-roll, then floundered, eventually recalling the final two only with prompting. Advertisement Cannon's version of 'parenting' seems to come with private jets, a full staff, and a scheduling system that would put NASA's mission control to shame. For everyone else, co-parenting is a carefully balanced act involving court orders, Google Calendars, and awkward handovers in car parks. Co-parenting isn't a toxic label. What else would you call it,' another argued. Advertisement A third added: 'Well… when you forget your children's names… I believe the term is No-Parenting, right?' Here's the thing. Calling it co-parenting gives people a term they can Google at 2am when they're desperate for advice. It connects them to books, podcasts, court guidelines, and communities of people navigating the same terrain. 5 'Well… when you forget your children's names… I believe the term is No-Parenting, right?' another person said. Getty Images Advertisement For most, co-parenting is splitting Christmas mornings, negotiating over who gets the kid's soccer final, and texting through gritted teeth about missing school hats. It's working with, not against, your child's other parent to make life as seamless as possible. I asked the Kidspot team for their thoughts. Leah could understand what he was putting down. 'I wouldn't have thought it that way, but I see where he's going,' she said. Advertisement However, she jokingly warns, 'anyone dating him should expect to have ten children.' Cassidy is clear about the coparenting vs parenting label. 'As someone who is not a parent, I have no legitimate thoughts other than I fear he is doing neither,' she said. Advertisement The reality is, he can reject the label if he wants, but for millions of parents, co-parenting isn't a label. It's the glue holding their family together.

Woman Explains Why Her Golden Retriever Doesn't Look 'Normal'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a viral Instagram video, the owner of a golden retriever named Reef explained why her pup doesn't look like a "normal golden," and internet users can't cope with it. In the post shared on August 5 by @reefthegolden_, Reef's owner answers a few of the most commonly asked questions about her pup, including why he looks different compared to most other puppies of the same breed. "Most frequently asked question about Reef. Why doesn't he look like a 'normal golden?' He is a show golden and people compare him to field goldens. And yes, this is why he's so fluffy," the owner writes in the clip. She also goes on to answer other questions about his personality and training. She confirms that he was never trained to behave in the bath the way he does in some of his most-viral clips; that he is the "biggest cuddle bug ever"; and that he goes out on his boat at least once a week. From left: Reef stands on a boat with another dog; and relaxes at home. From left: Reef stands on a boat with another dog; and relaxes at home. @reefthegolden_ "Is he actually as chill as he seems? Yes," she continues. "Why is he so mushy? Big boy = lots of skin." She also answers the one question that shocks viewers the most. "How old is he? 10 months. This one surprises people because he's a big boy and extremely calm temperament in public. "So how big is he going to be? His parents are over 100lbs … So he will be very large ~ 110lbs. Why does he buffer when you put his harness on? Drama. Does he just let you do whatever to him? Pretty much." Additionally, his owner, Grace, told Newsweek that Reef is a "true Florida boy," and he is "obsessed with the boat and swimming, and known as 'The Boat Dog' of TikTok." "He is super chill and the sweetest boy ever! He's 10 months old and comes from a line of Brazilian show goldens. He has a huge personality and tons of character—he's a cuddle bug, loves boujee lifestyle, and is a total goofball," Grace said. Veterinary website Dogster says that there are two types of golden retrievers, the show golden and the field golden, and while belonging to the same breed, they are widely different. While the field goldens were bred for the purposes of hunting and retrieving, which make them very high energy pups that require lots of enrichment, show goldens were bred mostly for their looks and are a lot more chilled. Field goldens usually have a darker and shorter coat, a wedge-shaped head with slanted eyes, and their snouts are more elongated. They are also leaner than their show counterparts. Show goldens have a more-square head and fluffy coat. The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 235,000 views and almost 22,000 likes on the platform. One user, Scoutthegolden_va, commented: "Long story short: reef is perfect." Another, roxanaboanfa, added: "I get this questions all the time, mine is a field golden and people are wondering why is he so big and tall, I end up giving an explanation."
