RAPID CITY, SD (KELO) — It's the final day of the Black Hills Home Show in Rapid City. The Home Show features more than 400 booths offering advice from industry experts as well as valuable resources for your next home project. It's taking place at The Monument from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is hosted by the Black Hills Home Builders Association.
The Premiere Playhouse presents William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The performance is at 2 p.m. in the Orpheum Theater Center in downtown Sioux Falls. Tickets are $35.
The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra presents its Spring Chamber Music Concert. The performance is at 1 p.m. in the Hamre Recital Hall on the Augustana University campus. Tickets are $10.
The Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15.50 for adults, $11.50 for children and free for ages under two.
The Butterfly House & Aquarium in Sioux Falls is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $11 for children and free for ages under two.
Explore Sioux Falls and South Dakota history courtesy of Siouxland Heritage Museums. The Old Courthouse Museum located downtown and the Pettigrew Home and Museum, in the Cathedral District, are both open from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include 9 to 5 and Brave, both rated PG, plus The Wolf of Wall Street, rated R.
The Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium at the Washington Pavilion features T-Rex, Mars: The Ultimate Voyage and 3-2-1 Liftoff.
New movie releases playing at a theater near you include The Woman in the Yard, rated PG-13 plus A Working Man and Death of a Unicorn, both rated R.
This is the final weekend of the Mash Madness drink competition in downtown Sioux Falls. Categories include craft beers, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverage creations at 29 participating businesses. Mash Madness ends Monday.

Theatre Royal Brighton is gearing up to welcome the first-ever UK tour of The Talented Mr Ripley. The show is a stage adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's gripping novel, which was also the source material for the 2000 Oscar-nominated film starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Gwyneth Paltrow and the 2024 Netflix adaptation starring Andrew Scott. This new production will make its stop at Theatre Royal Brighton from Monday, October 27, to Saturday, November 1, 2025. Adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher, known for his work on Mary Stuart and A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Talented Mr Ripley is produced by Jack Maple and Thomas Hopkins. The story follows Tom Ripley, a man who transforms from a nobody to someone caught in a web of lies, identity theft, and murder, after being invited into the privileged world of Dickie Greenleaf. Set in the 1950s Italy and featuring a chillingly charismatic antihero, this adaptation is set to bring a fresh take on the classic tale, promising audiences a thrilling experience. The Talented Mr Ripley is a production by The Faction, with set and costume design by Holly Piggott, known for her work on Fleabag, and associate set and costume design by Ellen Farrell. The lighting design is by Zeynep Kepekli (The Little Mermaid, Bristol Old Vic), sound design by Max Pappenheim (The Night of the Iguana, Noel Coward Theatre), and casting by Marc Frankum CDG (The Woman in Black, Fortune Theatre). Casting is yet to be announced. Tickets for the Brighton shows will go on general sale at 12pm on May 23 and can be purchased via The Talented Mr Ripley is set to be a major highlight in Theatre Royal Brighton's 2025 calendar, bringing a gripping tale of deception, desire, and deadly ambition to the stage. Meet the 2025 Miss South Dakota winner
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Just a year and a half ago, Jamee Kattner had never considered being in a pageant before. But then, a group of students mistook her for the then-Miss South Dakota. A few months later, following Kattner's voice recital, multiple people suggested she compete for the title. Man identified in fatal Monday I-90 crash 'Then I thought, well, that has to be more than a coincidence for more than one person to bring this up to me in the span of six months. And so I decided to take a leap of faith and jump into the organization,' said 2025 Miss South Dakota winner Jamee Kattner. And just this past week, Kattner won the statewide pageant- something she didn't see coming. 'Complete and utter shock. I think everyone thinks it can be them. But until you're down to that final two moment, I mean, I can't even truly remember what actually happened,' said Kattner. Now, she has three months to prepare for the Miss America competition. 'The first three days have been a whirlwind, and I'm assuming that's what these next three months will be like. A whirlwind. But yet I'm still so grateful for this opportunity,' said Kattner. For the next year, Kattner will represent South Dakota using her community service initiative, Melodies of Joy: Music's Power to Inspire. 'I'm constantly going into community spaces, EmBe programs, Boys & Girls clubs, schools, nursing homes, and spreading the joy and love of music that I have and giving that gift to others. Pickleball, yoga among activities at downtown event
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A summer series in downtown Sioux Falls is opening the streets to pedestrians. The event launched in May and will happen during First Fridays through August. A mother's message after loss The sound of pickleball will be coming to a stretch of Phillips Avenue this week. Remedy Pickleball Pub will offer a pop-up pickleball court Friday night in the Raven parking lot. 'We'll have it taped off with the lines and nets out and some loaner paddles and balls and just have the opportunity to come an play and learn the game a little bit,' Remedy Pickleball Manager Geneva Olson said. The pop-up court is one of many activities at this month's Open Streets event happening on Phillips Avenue between 6th and 7th streets. The June event is all about wellness. 'Put on your shorts and your T-shirts. We're going to be doing crossfit, we're going to be doing yoga. There's actually going to be a monster truck here, which is not really wellness related, just fun. There's going to be face painting, kids activities, Parks and Rec will be coming out with their mobile rec unit,' Downtown Sioux Falls CEO Brandon Hanson said. Hanson says the events are designed to bring people together, drive foot traffic to businesses, and inform future development. 'This is pretty underdeveloped. If you have ever walked in this stretch of Phillips Avenue, there's not retail, there's not food and beverage. It's really kind of this desert in downtown and we want to show that it doesn't have to be that way, and there's future projects that are being talked about in these blocks, so what does it look like when we fill it with people and design it to be people first?' Hanson said. And pickleball is just one of the reasons you may want to check it out. 'You can be 70 and play this game and you can be 15 and play this game and have fun. And so it's really an awesome opportunity for people to get out and get moving. Be social,' Olson said. The Open Streets events are put on by DTSF and AARP South Dakota.
