Karol Rosa wants former title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva after UFC on ESPN 71
Rosa (19-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) got some resistance in the first round from Cornolle (9-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at the UFC Apex. But in the second, Rosa turned on the afterburners and dominated Cornolle for a 10-8 round from two of the judges. After that, she cruised back into the win column.
Rosa won her first four fights in the UFC, but since then has alternated losses and wins for eight bouts. Perhaps even more amazingly, her fight with Cornolle was her 12th straight trip to the judges' scorecards.
Afterward, she called out a fellow Brazilian: former title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva. Silva lost a women's bantamweight title shot against then-champ Raquel Pennington in early 2024, which started her current three-fight skid. She was set to fight Joselyne Edwards this week at UFC on ESPN 72, but pulled out.
Still, Rosa wanted to shoot her shot since Bueno Silva is above her in the rankings.
Check out Rosa's post-fight news conference in the video above.

Former UFC champ Charles Oliveira returns to face Rafael Fiziev in UFC Rio main event
A little over a month removed from his knockout loss at UFC 317, Charles Oliveira already has his next fight lined up. The former UFC champion will return to the cage on October 11 to face Rafael Fiziev in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the promotion announced on Thursday. The 35-year-old Oliveira suffered a devastating knockout loss at the hands of UFC lightweight champ Ilia Topuria at the end of June, but soon after expressed his desire to return to action before the end of the year. This will mark the first time in over five years that Oliveira has competed on a UFC card that's not a pay-per-view event. That outing — a submission win over Kevin Lee at a UFC Fight Night in March of 2020 — also marked the last time Oliveira fought in his home nation of Brazil. Fiziev is coming off a unanimous decision win over Ignacio Bahamondes at a UFC on ABC event in June. That victory snapped a three-fight losing streak for Fiziev, who prior to that had won six straight fights in the UFC. Despite the string of losses, Fiziev has been a fixture in the UFC lightweight rankings, thanks largely to his adept striking game. Two of the three defeats during his skid came against perennial contender Justin Gaethje, both in close fights. The other came against Mateusz Gamrot in a fight that saw Fiziev suffer a knee injury that kept him out of action for almost 18 months. This pairing marks a notable step up in competition for Fiziev, who's currently ranked no. 10 in the UFC's own 155-pound rankings. It also gives him a chance against arguably the biggest name he's ever faced in his career, as Oliveira still retains widespread popularity with fans even after losing three of his last five. The fight is also something of a risk for Oliveira, who's currently ranked fourth at lightweight. He noted that the KO loss to Topuria was the first time in his career he felt he'd been truly knocked unconscious, leaving him with no memory of the ending of the fight. By the time he fights Fiziev in this headlining bout, he will be just slightly over three months removed from that knockout. The UFC Rio event lineup is still being finalized, but it is also expected to feature heavyweight bouts including Vitor Petrino vs. Thomas Petersen, as well as Jhonata Diniz vs. Mario Pinto.

UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis says 'special' Khamzat Chimaev worthy of all the praise
UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis doesn't view Khamzat Chimaev as overrated. Du Plessis (23-2 MMA, 9-0 UFC) will look to notch his third title defense when he takes on Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) in the UFC 319 headliner on Aug. 16 at United Center in Chicago (ESPN+, ESPN, pay-per-view). After storming into the UFC with dominant finish after the other, many touted Chimaev as a future champion. Du Plessis thinks Chimaev is as good as advertised. "I think Khamzat is a special fighter," Du Plessis said on "The Ariel Helwani Show." "The first time I saw him fight, I knew this guy was going to be special – 100 percent. There was a stage where he didn't fight for like two years or something. Listen, he speaks a lot more than he fights, I can tell you that much. "He was calling out every single person. That just started getting annoying the sh*t out of me. He was calling out welterweights, middleweights, light heavyweights, but he wasn't fighting anyone. There was never ever a stage where I went, 'Oh, this guy's overrated.' No, he is as good as people think. I think he is as good as people think, I just think I'm a lot better than people think." Chimaev has put in plenty of work on his cardio while training with Sam Calavitta in California, but betting underdog Du Plessis is ready to defy the odds once again. "I have to say, Khamzat looks incredible in training, and people are talking about, 'Oh, he's training with this new coach,'" Du Plessis said. "I'm very happy for him. He did it five weeks out from the fight. I've been doing this my whole life. I've been fighting title fights. I did it for five, six years, entered the UFC, defended my belt twice already. The hard work that he's putting in, that people are going, 'Oh, he's really training hard,' that's what I've been doing every single camp, fight after fight after fight. That's not new to me. "People are praising him for doing what's required. I'm really happy for him, and I think he's going to come prepared more than ever. I know that feeling of fighting for your first title. I know he's going to come in there prepared. He's a special fighter. He's incredibly good. I can't wait. This is going to be history. I am going out there, and I'm going to shock the world once again like every other time. Everybody said it's impossible: Not this guy, not this guy. You're going to see the boogeyman break in there and then realize, there's only one boogeyman, and that's me."

Video: Headliners Carlos Ulberg, Dominick Reyes face off to launch UFC Perth promotion
+ We're still seven weeks out from the UFC's return to Australia, but already the anticipation is starting to build. A former light heavyweight title challenger looking to complete a resurgence headlines UFC Perth against a rising standout from nearby New Zealand, and Thursday the promotion brought the fighters together "Down Under" to get face to face. Dominick Reyes (14-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) takes on Carlos Ulberg (12-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) on Sept. 27 at RAC Arena in Perth in Western Australia. The light heavyweight bout will be the main event. Check out the fighters' Thursday faceoff and comments about their first meeting below. Reyes knocked out Nikita Kryvlov in the first round in April for his third straight win, which kept in the rearview mirror a four-fight skid and a series of health issues that threatened to end his fighting career. The rut began with a highly debated decision loss to Jon Jones in a light heavyweight title fight many thought Reyes won in 2020. Ulberg picked up a close decision win against ex-champ Jan Blachowicz in March. Ulberg has one of the best current streaks in the promotion and is undefeated in his most recent eight trips to the octagon. Ulberg trains with former UFC champion Israel Adesanya at City Kickboxing in New Zealand.
