Vestal Police hosting Community Roll Call Event
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal Police Department is offering community members a look at recent law enforcement activities.
Vestal Police is hosting its annual Community Roll Call Event on April 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the crime trends impacting our area.
The event aims to bring police and civilians together to strengthen neighborhood ties. It will feature a presentation of the annual report. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the increase in warrants and will be able to discuss any updates relevant to local safety efforts.
The event will conclude with an open Q&A session where community members can share feedback with law enforcement representatives.
The Community Roll Call Event is open to Vestal residents or business owners in town.

Binghamton psychic guilty of defrauding lovesick victim
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A local psychic is facing criminal charges after a client claimed she left him emotionally and financially devastated. On May 8, Patsy Brown of Binghamton Physic, located at 257 Vestal Parkway in Vestal, pleaded guilty to violation of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree. Brown was arrested by the Vestal Police Department last year for Grand Larceny, Conspiracy, and Fortune Telling after a client reported that she took advantage of him when he was extremely vulnerable. According to Bob Nygaard, a private investigator hired by one of the victims, the victim received a $20 tarot card reading from Brown at the Broome County Fair in 2022. A few days later, he visited her at the fortune-telling parlor in Vestal. Brown then encouraged the victim to perform egg rituals, promising him they would bring back his fiancée, who had recently left him. Brown instructed the victim to send her money and purchase her gifts as part of the ritual, promising she would return the payments. Ultimately, the victim's fiancée never returned, and the victim was never paid back as promised. According to court records, Brown was sentenced to five years of probation and was also ordered to pay back the two victims a combined total of $20,000. Vestal Police update residents on crime in the town
VESTAL, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal Police Department gave a presentation to town residents, updating them on crime analytics and trends over the past year. The department called the event a Community Roll Call, and was led by police chief, Stace Kintner. Kintner went through slide show, detailing the trends of local crime and the department's response to it. Such as how over 20% more motor vehicle accidents occur in the town when Binghamton University is in session. The overall number of calls for service continues to increase year after year, this year, the agency received over 19,300 calls. Kintner encouraged residents to download the app Crime Watch and search for Vestal Police, to stay up to date on the agency's announcements. 'Traditionally, there's been a hesitation to really share with people what's going on. Cause you obviously don't want to increase concerns. I look at it in the opposite end. Like, I look at it as, I'm going to tell you what's going on. I'm going to tell you how we're combating it right,' says Kintner. Kintner says he's proud that the department currently has 43 officers, which is the most its ever had.
