Bhopal: A liver was transported from Jabalpur to Bhopal on Thursday via the PM Shri Air Ambulance, marking the third instance of cadaveric organ donation through this MP government service. According to Dr Subodh Varshney, director of Siddhanta Red Cross Super Speciality hospital in Bhopal, their medical team travelled to Jabalpur to retrieve the liver and returned using the same aircraft. The organ was recevied at the hospital around 6.45 PM. The donor was a 31-year-old male who sustained fatal head injuries in a road accident. Following significant brain damage, his family opted to donate his organs. The donor had A+ blood group. The heart was transported to Ahmedabad, whilst Siddhant Red Cross received the liver, and one kidney was utilised in Jabalpur. The remaining kidney was unsuitable for transplant due to stones and mild infection. To facilitate organ transfer, green corridors were established in both Jabalpur and Bhopal. Specialist doctors from Delhi and Bhopal performed the organ retrieval.
