Currently, the wait time for darshan has reached a staggering 20 hours. On Saturday, a record 88,257 devotees had the opportunity to view Srivari, and 45,068 of them performed the traditional head tonsure as an offering. TTD officials reported that the income from the Srivari Hundi yesterday amounted to Rs. 3.68 crores.
As the summer holidays draw to a close and monsoon rains begin to recede, TTD officials anticipate that the surge of visitors will persist for at least another week. In response to the growing crowds, TTD is making the necessary arrangements to ensure the comfort and safety of devotees.
Additionally, in light of recent incidents involving tigers roaming near footpaths and roads, TTD, along with forest and police authorities, is taking measures to ensure the safety of all visitors.

VIJAYAWADA: In a major reversal, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has now included the Tirumala hill route in its 'Stree Shakti' free bus travel scheme for women. This decision comes after a previous policy excluded the route, citing safety concerns on the ghat road where only seated passengers are permitted. The earlier exclusion had drawn criticism, as a one-way ticket to Tirumala costs Rs 90, with a round-trip costing Rs 160. The new announcement is expected to benefit thousands of female pilgrims. APSRTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao made the announcement on Tuesday during an inspection of bus stands in Avanigadda and Challapalli. He was accompanied by MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad. He also inspected the Machilipatnam bus stand with Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra. The chairman noted the scheme's overwhelming success, stating that about 43 lakh women have already used the free travel service. He added that the scheme benefits women going to hospitals, temples, and those working odd jobs, saving them an estimated Rs. 6.30 crore per day. For pilgrims travelling to Tirumala, the APSRTC runs frequent 'Saptagiri Express' services from various stations in Tirupati, including the Railway Station, RTC Bus Station, Sri Padmavathi Bus Station, and Balaji Link Bus Station. Services run from 3:30 am to 11:30 pm, with a bus available every ten minutes.

Kiritara Resorts to come up near Yerpedu with modern amenities
Tirupati: Tirupati District Collector Dr S Venkateswar has assured complete support for the establishment of Kiritara Resorts, a major tourism project coming up near Yerpedu in Tirupati district. The Collector held a meeting at the Collectorate on Tuesday with Kiritara Resorts CEO and Managing Director V Satyanarayana, architect G Gangaraju, and Regional Tourism Director Dr R Ramana Prasad. During the discussions, officials briefed him about the project, which is being developed with an investment of Rs 80 crore. The resort, to be located adjacent to the Yerpedu–Venkatagiri Highway and in close proximity to IIT Tirupati and IISER Tirupati, is expected to create direct employment for nearly 500 people. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Venkateswar said that setting up an eco-friendly resort with modern amenities in Tirupati district is a welcome development. He assured the company's management of full cooperation from the district administration for speedy execution of the project and advised them to make the facility accessible not only to local residents but also to the large number of tourists visiting Tirupati. It may be recalled here that an MoU for the project was signed earlier this month at Gandikota of YSR Kadapa district in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu between the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority and Kiritara Resorts. The project envisions Asia's largest swimming pool, luxury suites, hill-view villas, a clubhouse, and facilities for indoor and outdoor games, making it a premier tourism destination in the region. Kiritara Resorts CEO and MD V Satyanarayana expressed gratitude to the Collector for his assurance and support. District Tourism Officer M Janardhan Reddy, directors K Subbarayudu, E Srinivasulu Reddy, and others participated in the meeting.

Kalyana Kattas in Tirumala to get a makeover
Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has decided to upgrade the Kalyana Katta Complexes (KKCs) in Tirumala to enhance pilgrim convenience, hygiene, and safety, while upholding the spiritual and traditional sanctity of the tonsuring practice. The move, endorsed by the TTD Board under the leadership of BR Naidu on July 22, 2025, represents a major initiative to modernise one of the most essential pilgrim amenities on the holy hills. Every year, lakhs of devotees undertake tonsure at these complexes as an expression of devotion to Lord Venkateswara. However, with most of the existing facilities built decades ago, authorities have been facing challenges in managing crowd flow, sanitation, and basic amenities. The objective is to blend modern amenities with age-old spiritual practices, making the devotees offer their hair in fulfilment of vows. Authorities felt it necessary to provide comfort and safety to pilgrims while preserving the sanctity of the ritual. According to TTD sources, the new initiative will see a complete redesign of the KKCs by professional architects and consultants, who will be finalised after a selection process. A design competition will also be held among the empanelled firms to ensure that both functional and cultural requirements are met. The modernisation plan envisages clean and well-ventilated complexes, comfortable waiting and seating areas, improved lighting, enhanced safety norms and a systematic layout to avoid congestion. The model design will first be implemented on a pilot basis in one complex, and later extended to others depending on its success and pilgrim feedback. Officials revealed that the immediate steps include preparing modalities for empanelment, defining the scope of work and issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP). The Board will take a final call on execution once the proposals are evaluated. TTD authorities emphasised that this initiative forms part of their larger mission to upgrade amenities in Tirumala. In recent years, the temple body has invested in queue complexes, improved accommodation facilities and renewable energy projects. With the revamp of Kalyana Kattas, TTD hopes to ensure that the age-old offering of hair continues in a setting that is both dignified and comfortable for future generations of pilgrims.
