Cardoso and Vandersloot showed increased chemistry during team's triumph over the Wings, which led to Cardoso's 9-for-13 shooting performance on Thursday. This 69.2% mark from the floor is her highest in 2025 so far.
After the game, Cardoso spoke to the media about Vandersloot after the historic milestone that she achieved against Dallas. Cardoso touched on how impactful she has been for the team, as well as what Vandersloot means to her personally.

'I feel like the connection's been going on … It's amazing to have her here and play with her because she's a vet and she's always helping me and telling me to turn the page and keep going and stay confident in myself.'
Chicago now holds a 1-4 record, which places them fifth in the Eastern Conference Standings. They are now a game ahead of the 0-5 Connecticut Sun, but still trail by one game to the 2-3 Indiana Fever.

Ex-Alabama QB Issues Blunt Warning to Ryan Grubb Before 2025 Season
Ex-Alabama QB Issues Blunt Warning to Ryan Grubb Before 2025 Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After just one season as the Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator in 2024, Nick Sheridan was demoted on paper to the team's co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In his place, Alabama brought in Ryan Grubb, who was the Seattle Seahawks' OC last year, but has a long-standing relationship with Bama head coach Kalen DeBoer. Advertisement Grubb was part of the coaching staff with DeBoer during their shared tenures at Washington, Fresno State, Eastern Michigan and Sioux Falls, which goes back to 2007. College football analysts believe Alabama's offense will take a step forward in 2025, and some might conclude that Grubb is a better coordinator than Sheridan. However, former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron disagreed with such a stance while speaking with Chris Stewart and Trent Richardson on "The Dynasty." "Whenever you're the OC at Alabama," McCarron began. "You're going to catch hell, regardless. If you don't put up 35 to 50 points every game, it is what it is. ... I was with multiple OCs during my career at Alabama. It comes with the territory." Advertisement Last season, Alabama fell short of the program's high expectations in both its passing and rushing offense. The Crimson Tide ranked 56th in passing offense (236.4 yards per game) and 47th in rushing offense (173.8 ypg). Alabama scored 34.5 points per game, 21st in college football. While that's certainly a very good result, it's not quite good enough for a college football powerhouse that wants to be competing for national championships annually. Just knowing what Ryan Grubb likes in certain situations." Advertisement Retaining Sheridan wasn't a given after Grubb was brought in. It only came with a later announcement that Sheridan would stay with the coaching staff and focus on quarterbacks. Sheridan was linked with DeBoer during their stints at the University of Indiana in 2019 when the former was the tight ends coach and the latter was the Hoosiers' quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. McCarron makes it clear, even with all these relationships in play, results matter in Tuscaloosa. So, DeBoer, Grubb, Sheridan and the rest of the Crimson Tide staff must deliver offensively. In 2024, Alabama failed to qualify for the College Football Playoff and missing out on it again this season could put not just the coordinators on the heat seat, but DeBoer as well. Red Sox Get Excellent News on Alex Bregman's Injury
Red Sox Get Excellent News on Alex Bregman's Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Red Sox continue to look for answers following a 7-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. As the team falls four games under .500 and now nine games back of the American League East lead, the return of third baseman Alex Bregman becomes more prevalent. Advertisement Bregman suffered a strained right quad on May 23 in a matchup against the Baltimore Orioles. Initially, he did not think the injury was as severe as his 2021 quad injury. However, when Bregman arrived at the ballpark the next day, he told the media it did not respond how he had hoped. Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman (2) looks on during the first inning against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Kucin Jr.-Imagn Images After an MRI, he was placed on the 10-day injured list, adding to the team's already lengthy list of star players on the shelf. Despite not being able to offer a timeline for Bregman's return, manager Alex Cora offered a positive outlook for the third baseman on Tuesday. When asked about Bregman's rehab, Cora stated, "[He's] getting treatment, feeling better. Good to see him around, obviously, helping everybody. But in good spirits. So, it was a good week for him," Christopher Smith of shared. Advertisement Before his injury, Bregman was amid a career resurgence, batting .299 with 11 home runs and an OPS above .930. He is also tied for second among third basemen with six defensive runs saves, according to FanGraphs. While the Red Sox offense still ranks inside the top 10, having Bregman operating the hot corner again will provide much-needed power, as shown by the former All-Star's 3.0 baseball-reference WAR. Boston will host the Angels in game two of a three-game series, with Abraham Toro and top prospect Marcello Mayer sharing time in Bregman's absence. New Details Emerge About Eagles, Bryce Huff Trade
New Details Emerge About Eagles, Bryce Huff Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When the Philadelphia Eagles signed edge rusher Bryce Huff to a three-year deal last offseason, the organization was hoping to add one of the better pass rushers in the game. Advertisement Huff was never able to reach that potential, though. He recorded just 1.5 sacks during his run with the Eagles last season, and was a healthy scratch during Super Bowl LIX. Now, he's been traded to the San Francisco 49ers. While details surrounding the trade have been pretty sparse since the two sides agreed to terms, they have finally been made public. "Trade compensation update: it's a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick that can turn into a fourth," CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones wrote of Philly's compensation. "Condition(s) tied to performance. All pending physical." For a player that never saw the field last season, to get a conditional fifth-round pick is a pretty solid return for the Eagles. They clearly did not have Huff in their plans for the 2025 season, and cut their losses as fast as they could. Advertisement San Francisco also has a need for edge rushers who can get after the quarterback. Depending on how Huff plays this season, there's a legitimate chance he is able to give the Eagles a fourth round pick instead. When Huff left the New York Jets in free agency, his departure awarded the Jets a third round compensatory pick. In this case, the Eagles could be awarded a fourth-round comp pick if he reaches his agreed upon performance markers. It is still giving away a player for lesser value. That won't change his legacy in Philadelphia. But it at least shortens the blow of whiffing on a free agent like this. Other organizations would not have this luxury.
