Micah Parsons has asked the Dallas Cowboys to trade him. He made this clear in a long message posted on X on August 1, 2025. In that message he wrote, 'I no longer want to be here,' thanking Dallas but saying he feels the team has ignored his contract needs.
That is the most important part right at the start.
Micah Parsons requests trade from Dallas Cowboys after talks fall apart
Micah Parsons said he asked to be traded from the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, August 1, 2025, while training camp in Oxnard, California was underway. He posted a heartfelt note on X that started,
'Thank you Dallas.'
In that note he said he spoke with the Cowboys earlier about a new contract, including a meeting in March 2025 with owner Jerry Jones, but the team never entered formal talks when his agent tried to get involved.
Micah Parsons said no one from Dallas has had a contract discussion with his agent, David Mulugheta, yet. This led Parsons to file a trade request directly to team COO Stephen Jones.
He added:
'I no longer want to be here.'
He stayed quiet at first but felt pushed by media narratives and lack of respect.
'My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.'
Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones' contract talks, agent left out and rising tension
Micah Parsons, born May 26, 1999, was drafted by the Cowboys in 2021 and has become one of the NFL's top defenders with multiple All-Pro, Pro Bowl, and Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
He is now 26 and playing under the team's fifth-year rookie option, set to earn around $24 million in 2025. But he is pushing for a record deal beyond that.

According to league sources, tensions rose when Jerry Jones publicly downplayed Mulugheta's role, saying he didn't even know the agent's name, even though Mulugheta is highly respected. Dallas claims the spring talks counted as a handshake deal, but Parsons' camp disagrees and says the team refuses to negotiate further.
As a result, he refused to join full on-field drills at camp.
Some former Cowboys like Dez Bryant have said the team should focus on football and stop the drama, warning that it could hurt team trust and performance.
Other teams are expected to ask Dallas about Micah Parsons, but so far the team says it has no intention to trade him at this time.

Michael Vaughan slams compatriot Kevin Pietersen: 'I think he's talking nonsense' - all you need to know

Kevin Pietersen and Michael Vaughan (Agency Photos) Former England star Kevin Pietersen ignited a lively debate on social media after claiming that Test batting 20–25 years ago was "twice as hard back then" compared to today. Taking to X (formerly), the 45-year-old backed his argument by listing 22 legendary bowlers from that era and challenged fans to name 10 modern-day bowlers who could match up. 'Waqar [Younis], Shoaib [Akhtar], [Wasim] Akram, [Saqlain] Mushtaq, [Anil] Kumble, [Javagal] Srinath, Harbhajan [Singh], [Allan] Donald, [Shaun] Pollock, [Lance] Klusener, [Darren] Gough, [Glenn] McGrath, [Brett] Lee, [Shane] Warne, [Jason] Gillespie, [Shane] Bond, [Daniel] Vettori, [Chris] Cairns, Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Murali[tharan], Curtley [Ambrose], Courtney [Walsh] and the list could go on and on… I've named 22 above. Please name me 10 modern day bowlers that can compare to the names above?' Pietersen wrote. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! However, his comments didn't sit well with everyone. Fellow former England captain Michael Vaughan took a firm stand against Pietersen's viewpoint during a discussion on Sony Sports Network. 'I think he's talking nonsense,' said Vaughan. 'I have looked at the last six or seven years closely. You look at the Indian seamers now, they are as good as they ever had. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo You look at the Australian attack, that trio that Australia had, it is as good as they have had.' Vaughan further defended the current generation of bowlers from across the globe, pointing to their quality and the level of competition in recent years. 'You go to South Africa, Rabada and Jansen. You go to New Zealand, Boult, Southee. I've loved the last few years of Test match cricket because it has been competitive. I think this era of batting, I don't think it has been any easier than any other era. I think there's some wonderful bowlers around.' Pietersen's tweet may have been meant to spark conversation, but it's clear he got more than he bargained for.
