Kuberaa box office collection day 1: Dhanush-starrer has a smaller opening than Kamal Haasan's Thug Life, earns Rs 13 crore

Kuberaa box office collection day 1: The much-anticipated pan-India release Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna, has made a notable impact on its opening day, despite mixed regional occupancy and a box office performance slightly lower than expected. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kuberaa opened with Rs 13 crore, which is slightly lesser than Dhanush's last Tamil release Raayan as that film made around Rs 16 crore on its opening day. The film was shot in both Telugu and Tamil simultaneously, and was released in both these languages along with dubbed versions in Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. The Telugu-speaking regions led the charge, with the film recording an overall occupancy of 57.36%. Morning shows began modestly at 38.94%, but footfall increased steadily throughout the day, rising to 54.58% in the afternoon, 57.04% in the evening, and peaking impressively at 78.87% during night shows. In contrast, the film saw relatively low occupancy in other languages: 33.73% in Tamil Nadu, 6.54% in Karnataka, and just 6.73% in Hindi. Despite this, industry analysts are optimistic that Kuberaa could benefit from positive word-of-mouth and build momentum over the weekend. ALSO READ | In Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan finally faces the man in the mirror, as he trades perfection for vulnerability This year has been a mixed bag for the Telugu and Tamil film industry so far. In Telugu, films like Game Changer, Daaku Maharaj and HIT: The Third Case released amid major hype. Shankar's Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, opened with Rs 51 crore at the box office but managed to make Rs 131 cr, which was much lesser than its humungous budget. Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Daaku Maharaj made Rs 90 crore in the domestic market, after making around Rs 25 crore on opening day. Even Nani's HIT: The Third Case made Rs 21 crore on the first day, but ended its run at around Rs 80 crore. In Tamil, Ajith's Good Bad Ugly made Rs 153.18 crore after opening at Rs 29 crore. Kamal Haasan's Thug Life, which was the most hyped film of the year, opened at around Rs 15 crore, and is yet to cross Rs 50 crore after two weeks in theatres. Much of the buzz of Kuberaa surrounds Dhanush's transformative performance as a beggar, which has drawn praise across social media for its rawness and emotional depth. Fans have also lauded Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna for choosing unconventional, meaningful roles. The trio's collaboration was a major factor driving pre-release hype. Adding a layer of emotional resonance to the film's debut, Dhanush was spotted watching Kuberaa on opening day with his son, Linga. The actor was visibly moved by the crowd's enthusiastic response.

Exclusive- Anuja Sathe gets candid about the preparations behind essaying Karpura Devi in Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan

Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, television's grand historical epic, continues to captivate audiences with tremendous storytelling, grand visuals, and strong performances. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now , who plays the character of Karpura Devi, exclusively shared with Times Of India TV what went behind preparing for the role. The actress also shared her excitement about working with the same team again after . Anuja on working with the team again Very, very exciting because the last show that I did on TV was with the same production house, and now I'm again coming back on TV with the same production itself. So, it's very exciting. It's a great feeling because I know everybody, I've worked with them, and I know how they mount their historical shows. They are specialised, we can say, in making historicals and everything. So, it's great. It's great to be back. And back with the people that I already worked with. What went behind carving a role like Kapura Devi? So, basically, this part of the culture I was completely unaware of. Culture, history and reading up about it and knowing who was involved in this particular region and how the kings ruled and what the history was that went behind it and all of that. That was very new to me. Also, the language part where we have kept the nuances of a little bit of Marwadi and a combination of Hindi. Of course, it's more of Hindi and very little Marwadi is used. But I think that accent and those nuances matter a lot. So, I had to have an understanding of how those words are spoken, what the accent is and how these things are said. Because in the meantime, I had done lots of different work, where it was modern Hindi, English mix, English as we call it. And now going back to the roots, the pure Hindi-based with little Marwadi was a little tough part for me in the beginning. So, I sat with the creatives, and I read the script. We had episodes in our hands already. So, I sat with them so that they could correct me at that given point in time and tell me how it's pronounced. These kinds of preparations went on into putting something into this character. Keep reading this space for more updates.

Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par debuts with Rs 11.70 Cr day 1 collection , matches Laal Singh Chaddha but falls short of 3 Idiots

's comeback vehicle Sitaare Zameen Par has opened to Rs 11.70 crore at the domestic box office on its first day, matching the Day 1 figures of his previous release Laal Singh Chaddha. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now While this is a promising start, especially after the mixed reception to Chaddha, the film narrowly misses surpassing the opening day collection of his much-loved classic 3 Idiots, which had notched Rs 12.99 crore on Day 1. The film, which has been positioned as an emotional, feel-good story in the same vein as Taare Zameen Par, has clearly sparked audience curiosity. Industry insiders credit the film's opening to a blend of Aamir's emotional brand of storytelling and the nostalgia surrounding his earlier socially sensitive film's major collection came from it's Hindi version where it collected Rs 11.50 crore while the rest came from Tamil and Telugu. When it came to Laal SIngh Chaddha- the Hindi version contributed Rs 11.6 crore while the rest came from Tamil and Telugu. However, while matching Laal Singh Chaddha's Day 1 performance may seem encouraging on paper, the comparison comes with a caveat—Chaddha released amid controversies, while Sitaare Zameen Par enjoyed a far more positive pre-release buzz and wider screen count. In that context, falling behind 3 Idiots—a film that released way back in 2009—is being seen as a missed opportunity. Here's how Sitaare Zameen Par compares to other Aamir Khan Day 1 openers: Thugs of Hindostan – Rs 52.25 crore – Rs 52.25 crore Dhoom 3 – Rs 36.22 crore – Rs 36.22 crore Dangal – Rs 29.78 crore – Rs 29.78 crore PK – Rs 26.63 crore Talaash – Rs 13.55 crore – Rs 13.55 crore 3 Idiots – Rs 12.99 crore Sitaare Zameen Par – Rs 11.70 crore Laal Singh Chaddha – Rs 11.70 crore Ghajini – Rs 10.20 crore Secret Superstar – Rs 4.80 crore Fanaa – Rs 3.97 crore – Rs 3.97 crore Dhobi Ghat – Rs 3.05 crore Rang De Basanti – Rs 2.90 crore While Sitaare Zameen Par hasn't cracked the top 5 Aamir Khan openers, the weekend holds promise. If positive word of mouth kicks in, it could well make up ground and find a place among the actor's more successful box office runs.
