Lobbying delays formation of Yadadri temple board despite law being passed two months ago

YADADRI BHUVANAGIRI: After coming to power, the Congress government in Telangana decided to constitute a board for the Yadadrigutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, similar to the TTD board.
Facilitating the decision, the Endowments Act was amended, and a new law was passed.
Though it has been two months since the temple's trust board establishment bill was approved by the Assembly, the appointment of the board chairman and members has not yet progressed. It is believed that the delay in forming the Yadadri board is due to intense lobbying among top leaders from the undivided district, each pushing for their group to get representation.
The proposed board will have 18 members, including a chairman, 11 governing body members, and six ex officio members. The term for the board will be two years.
The government is planning to appoint industrialists with a service mindset, spiritual leaders, and experts from various fields. It also intends to include members from other states to boost the temple's national recognition. The previous board of trustees was formed in 2008 and operated until 2010. For the past 15 years, the temple has been functioning without a governing body. With the new decision to form a board, many individuals are now showing keen interest in becoming board members of the temple or chairman.
These include Congress loyalists of the past decade, disappointed ticket aspirants, leaders who worked for MLA victories, those aiming for nominated posts, businessmen, NGO organisers, and eminent personalities from various fields.
Intense lobbying and political pressure
These aspirants are reportedly lobbying through their political connections to secure a spot on the board. Several leaders have allegedly already started exerting pressure on their seniors. Two ministers from the erstwhile Nalgonda district — N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy — along with senior leader Jana Reddy and local MLA and government whip Beerla Ilaiah, are reportedly pushing for their own nominees to be appointed as chairman and board members.

Disciplinary panel warns Rajgopal over his diatribe against CM

Hyderabad: The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the state unit of the Congress party on Sunday asked Munugode legislator Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy to mend his ways, with the committee chairman, Mallu Ravi, warning him that action would be initiated if the MLA continues to issue statements critical of the Chief Minister. A day after Pradesh Congress Committee president B Mahesh Kumar Goud referred the matter to the DAC, Nagarkurnool MP and committee's chairman Mallu Ravi deliberated the matter with the panel's members inGandhi Bhavan. He said that PCC chief on Saturday had an elaborate discussion with Rajagopal Reddy about his comments in question. He said that they discussed the possible options 'before the issue goes out of hand'. Accordingly, it was decided that 'the Committee should speak to him at this juncture and ask him not to repeat this', Mallu Ravi told the media, adding 'if this is repeated, action will definitely be taken against Rajagopal Reddy'. He hinted at potential disciplinary action, if the MLA persists in his diatribe. For the unversed, Rajgopal Reddy had expressed his displeasure with the Congress administration in Telangana, particularly regarding the allocation of funds to his constituency. He had alleged that funds were being diverted to the constituencies of key leaders and that Munugode was being neglected. His comments, made publicly during the Independence Day celebrations, raised eyebrows within the party and were construed as indirect criticism of the Chief Minister. On Saturday, the TPCC referred the issue over Rajgopal Reddy's remarks to the party's disciplinary committee, chaired by senior leader Mallu Ravi. Mahesh Kumar Goud then stated that the committee would examine the context of the MLA's statements before determining any further action. According to political analysts, Rajgopal Reddy's open expression of dissatisfaction with the party leadership, resulting in the involvement of the disciplinary committee headed by Mallu Ravi, signifies internal tensions within the Telangana Congress. Regarding resolution of differences among Warangal's top leaders, Mallu Ravi said that four party men would be sent to Warangal to analyse the ground situation. Their names will be finalised by the party high command. In the wake of allegations and counter allegations by Warangal's leaders, the party would be examining the responses from both the warring groups before arriving at a conclusion.

Harish rips into Cong govt for inept handling of irri. systems

Hyderabad: BRS senior leader T Harish Rao on Sunday lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy-led Congress government alleging criminal negligence in handling the state's irrigation systems during the ongoing floods. The BRS leader addressed a press conference at the Siddipet Camp Office on Sunday, where he strongly criticised the Congress government on irrigation front. Harish Rao expressed deep concern over the government's failure to operate the Kaleshwaram project pumps and store floodwaters in reservoirs, accusing it of prioritising politics over farmers' welfare. The Congress government is playing politics instead of protecting the interests of farmers. The BRS leader questioned why the government was not making use of the floodwaters even though Sripada Yellampalli was receiving 62,000 cusecs and Kadem project was getting over 1.5 lakh cusecs. This water could easily be diverted to fill reservoirs like Mid Manair, Annapurna, Ranganayaka Sagar, Mallanna Sagar, Kondapochamma and Baswapur, which are currently either dry or severely underfilled. He pointed out that just by switching on the motors at Nandi Medaram Gayatri Pump House, 2 TMCs of water could be lifted daily to Mid Manair. Yet, only 3 out of 7 motors are functioning. He said that even after alerting Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy a week ago through a letter, no action has been taken. He accused the government of willful neglect and demanded that motors be switched on immediately to save Rabi crops. Rao expressed concern that motors are being switched on and off twice a day, which was technically dangerous and could permanently damage them. These are not ordinary one-HP motors; each one consumes power equal to what an entire district uses, he said. Harish Rao demanded that all seven motors at Yellampalli be run continuously to bring at least 2 TMCs of water per day into Mid Manair. From there, one TMC per day should be released to Annapurna, Ranganayaka Sagar, Mallanna Sagar, Kondapochamma Sagar and Baswapur reservoirs to ensure water supply for lakhs of acres in the upcoming Rabi season. The Congress government is deliberately keeping the motors off to protect its false narrative that the Kaleshwaram project has failed. 'You say the project collapsed but is that the reason you are letting water go to waste, just to prove your lie?' he asked. 'This isn't politics. I'm speaking with responsibility as a former Irrigation Minister. I'm speaking for the farmers. I'm pained because my district's farmers and the state's farmers are suffering.' Rao said, if the government doesn't act, he along with thousands of farmers would march to the pump houses and switch the motors on themselves. 'The BRS government built this infrastructure to lift 2 TMCs daily. We will not stay silent while water is wasted. We will act and ensure farmers get water,' said Harish Rao.
