CAIRO – 10 May 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty chaired a dialogue session of the Supreme Standing Committee for Human Rights with representatives from various civil society organizations.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of listening to civil society representatives as national partners in achieving development. He highlighted the collaborative efforts to improve the general climate for rights and freedoms in Egypt.
During the session, the foreign minister reviewed the positive developments in human rights in recent months, notably the formulation and adoption of Egypt's first National Human Rights Strategy, initiated through a purely Egyptian initiative.
He also underlined the launch of the National Dialogue mechanism that includes all segments of society, as well as the establishment of the Presidential Pardon Committee, and the adoption of significant legislative amendments aimed at enhancing human rights.
Notably, amendments include the final approval of the Criminal Procedure Law by the House of Representatives on April 29, as well as advancements in economic and social rights, women's rights, youth rights, rights for the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities.
Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the efforts and activities undertaken by civil society to improve human rights conditions and support community awareness.
He acknowledged their involvement in drafting and monitoring the implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy.
Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity; Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs; and Adnan Fanjari, Minister of Justice attended the session.
Attendees also included Diaa Rashwan, Head of the State Information Service (SIS); Amal Ammar, Head of the National Council for Women; Iman Karim, General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities; and representatives from national entities that are members of the committee.
The ministers listened to the opinions and suggestions from civil society representatives, engaging in an interactive discussion about ways to enhance human rights conditions in the political, economic, and social spheres in Egypt.
They reiterated their commitment to supporting human rights in Egypt in a comprehensive manner, recognizing that the development of the rights system is a cumulative process that requires collaborative effort.

He urged the European Union to translate its supportive statements into real, strategic action on the ground, starting with a clearer commitment to the two-state solution and the economic future of the South. 'While China arrives in Cairo with investment proposals and a clear plan, we need the same level of practical engagement from the EU,' he said, calling on Brussels to develop a roadmap that matches ambition with implementation. Economic Stability Requires Political Resolution Abou El Enein noted that political peace and economic prosperity go hand in hand. 'You cannot talk about energy projects, agriculture, or industry while bombs are falling in Gaza,' he said. 'Let us be honest—development is not possible in an environment dominated by conflict.' He emphasized that Egypt and its southern partners are ready for joint development, but international frameworks must prioritize justice and human dignity first. PAM's Role in Mediterranean Dialogue As President Emeritus of PAM, Abou El Enein reaffirmed the organization's full support for the new EU Pact for the Mediterranean and its active contribution to shaping the political and human rights dimensions of that framework. 'Our Charter for the Mediterranean, adopted in 2008, anticipated the same values being discussed today,' he said. He emphasized PAM's unique position as a non-governmental parliamentary platform with unmatched reach and trust across member states, committed to dialogue, peacebuilding, and concrete cooperation. Conclusion: From Words to Action In closing, Abou El Enein urged all stakeholders to move from consultation to commitment and to put the two-state solution back at the center of the Mediterranean partnership agenda. OPEN// FM: Egypt keen on fostering coop. with Rwanda in various areas
CAIRO, June 5 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt pays attention to fostering cooperation with Rwanda in various fields and elevating bilateral relations to higher prospects. Abdelatty made the remarks on Thursday in a phone call with Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe. The top Egyptian diplomat called for building on the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Rwanda in the economic and trade fields, which in turn serves the two countries' interests and pushes efforts aimed at achieving development and stability in Africa. The two ministers addressed the latest regional developments, along with challenges facing the African continent, where Abdelatty underlined the importance of calming the situation in the Great Lakes, to contribute to restoring stability in the region. 98.6% of 138K complaints received by 'Your Voice is Heard' Initiative are resolved: Minister
Complaints - file CAIRO - 5 June 2025: Egyptian Minister of Local Development Dr. Manal Awad received a report Wednesday on the efforts made by the "Your Voice Is Heard" initiative during May 2025. The initiative was launched by the Ministry in October 2018 as a direct communication tool with citizens to receive and respond to complaints and suggestions quickly, enhancing trust between citizens and local government. This is part of the government's commitment to strengthening communication channels with citizens and meeting their daily needs. Dr. Manal Awad emphasized that the "Your Voice Is Heard" initiative continues to play its effective role as a link between citizens and the Ministry, by receiving complaints and inquiries and responding to them quickly and transparently. Since its launch, the initiative has successfully received approximately 881,423 messages from citizens via various communication channels, including more than 138,600 complaints. Of these, 136,700 have been resolved, representing a 98.6% completion rate. Work is underway to complete the remaining issues. The Minister of Local Development explained that May 2025 saw the receipt of 7,456 messages, including 1,345 complaints. Of these, 1,136 were resolved, representing 84.5% of the total, while the remaining 209 are currently being addressed. She noted that the initiative's services operate through multiple channels, including the WhatsApp number (01200353111), the "Your Voice is Heard" Facebook page, email, and the hotline (15330). Dr. Manal Awad added that the most prominent complaints received by the initiative during the past month were 364 complaints related to encroachments, followed by 317 complaints related to garbage, 312 complaints related to building violations, 303 complaints related to encroachments on agricultural land and state property, 14 complaints related to corruption, and 35 complaints related to ride fares and price increases, which were forwarded to the relevant authorities for necessary action. The Minister of Local Development indicated that the WhatsApp service received 3,640 messages, including 1,104 complaints, 938 of which were resolved (85%), and 166 complaints are being resolved. The Facebook page also received 2,910 messages, including 153 complaints, 132 of which were resolved (86.3%), and 21 complaints are being resolved. The number of followers of the page reached 98,784, while the email received 906 messages, including 88 complaints, 66 of which were resolved. The hotline received 1,096 phone calls, which included reports of citizens' suggestions, inquiries about submitted complaints, reports of illegal construction, and cases of encroachment on agricultural lands, and they were directed to the competent authorities in the governorates to take the necessary action.
