
Camps under ‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin' initiative to offer range of services
Addressing reporters in the Secretariat campus in Chennai, Mr. Radhakrishnan said that multiple departments, including Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Labour Welfare and Skill Development, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Departments, among others, would be involved in these camps.
He said that samples taken from beneficiaries would be identified using bar coding and the results would be made available by end of day. A State-level monitoring committee headed by the Chief Secretary would review the programme, while Collectors would review their implementation at the district level.
The details of the attendees and their test results, if any, would be fed into the Health Management Information System that would help hospitals to access, he said. The functioning of the camps organised under the 'Nalam Kakkum Stalin' programme would be reviewed on a weekly and monthly basis, he said.
Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department P. Senthil Kumar, Secretary of Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department G. Laxmi Priya, Secretary of Labour Welfare and Skill Development K. Veera Raghava Rao and Mission Director of the National Health Mission Arun Thamburaj were also present.

No high incidence of cancer in Erode: Minister S Muthusamy
ERODE/TIRUPPUR: Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister S Muthusamy on Saturday allayed fears on the incidence of cancer in Erode district. "In the last one and a half years, three lakh people were invited for cancer screening in the district and one-and-a-half lakh people were screened for the disease. Of these, 32 people have been diagnosed with cancer and are receiving treatment," he stated while speaking to reporters in Erode. The incidence of cancer is not high in Erode, he added. The minister also refuted Opposition Leader Edappadi K Palaniswami's allegation that 2,000 Amma mini-clinics were closed under the DMK regime. Referring to the alleged kidney sale racket in Namakkal, Muthusamy said: "The state government is identifying and taking appropriate action on kidney sales. Action is being taken against the hospitals involved. Investigations are underway against those hospitals," he said. Lauding the new state health scheme 'Nalan Kakkum Stalin', Muthusamy said 45 camps are planned In Erode district. Earlier, the Minister launched the Nalam Kakkum Stalin scheme at the Government Higher Secondary School in Vellode. Collector S Kandasamy, MLA VC Chandhirakumar and others were present. In Tiruppur, ministers Saminathan and N Kayalvizhi Selvaraj launched the scheme at Punitha Amala Annai Girls Higher Secondary School in Vellakovil. District Collector Manish Naranaware and other officials were present.

30 medical camps scheduled till December under Nalam Kakkum Stalin scheme in Dharmapuri
Around 30 medical services camps will be organised across blocks up to December 2025 under the Nalam Kakkum Stalin scheme in the district. Three camps will be conducted in each of the 10 blocks from August, said Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare M.R.K Paneerselvam. He was speaking on the sidelines of the medical camp conducted at the Government Higher Secondary School in Nallampalli on Saturday (August 2, 2025). The medical camps began here post Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's inauguration via video conference. These camps will screen people for all types of diseases and will provide 17 types of specialised medical treatments. Chief Minister's comprehensive medical insurance card and disability certificate for the differently-abled will also be issued. ABHA card (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) will be created for all persons coming to the camps for screening, according to the Minister. The camps are equipped with doctors with experience and expertise in the treatment. Mr. Paneerselvam also handed over CMCIS cards to five beneficiaries in the camp.

‘Nalam Kakkum Stalin' scheme launched in Madurai
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated medical camps under the 'Nalam Kakkum Stalin' scheme through video conference in Madurai on Saturday. The camps held in the presence of 17 specialised doctors aimed at delivering healthcare to people at doorsteps, especially from economically weaker sections. Five camps under Corporation limits and 39 in 13 blocks will be conducted every Saturday in the district. People with diabetes and high blood pressure, heart patients, lactating mothers and pregnant women among others could attend the camps. Specialist doctors from various departments who would be overseeing and diagnosing patients could provide expert opinions based on the reports of the test results. At the medical camps, public could undergo tests for blood pressure, diabetes, and could also get screened for early stages of cancer. They could also receive an echogram, x-ray, ECG, and an ultrasound scan. Treatment for ENT, eye, dental, psychiatry, physiotherapy, cardiology, skin, and consultation for general surgeries would also be provided. Organisers said that elaborate arrangements had been made to clinically screen visitors and give certificates to the differently abled and an identity card for the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. These camps will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P. Moorthy inaugurated the camp at Government Girls Higher Secondary School and distributed nutrition kit for the family members of tuberculosis patients. Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar was present at the event.
