SKY is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru following a surgery for sports hernia. On Friday, Suryakumar Yadav shared a video on Instagram showing himself batting in the nets, doing exercises, and running. IPL: Rajasthan Royals grapple with Sanju Samson dilemma
Sanju samson (Getty Images) JAIPUR: Rajasthan Royals are in a quandary over Sanju Samson 's plea to let him go or broker a trade, TOI has learnt. Having locked in Samson for Rs 18 cr last year, the franchise can hold onto him for two more seasons if the Royals management stands firm. Those in the know of developments, however, say that would be an unlikely outcome. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! There were rumours of unease between the Royals management and Samson during this year's Indian Premier League (IPL), with head coach Rahul Dravid having to clarify that he and the Royals captain 'were on the same page' and that he was 'an integral part of the team'. Royals had faced significant backlash from fans following the rumours of discord between head coach and captain. Poll Who should lead Rajasthan Royals if Sanju Samson departs? Riyan Parag Yashasvi Jaiswal Murmurs of discord persisted, however, with Samson reportedly urging Royals — the franchise he's been tied to for 12 years — to either release him or trade him ahead of the IPL-2026 auction. Samson's saga with Royals kicked off in 2013 as an 18-year-old prodigy, when he clinched the Emerging Player award with 206 runs and six stumpings. He's since become their most capped player (149 matches) and top run-scorer (4027 runs), notching three centuries. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Global Indices Are on the Move — Time to Trade! IC Markets Learn More Undo After a brief detour with Delhi Daredevils (2016–17) when Royals were suspended, Samson returned to steer the side from 2021, guiding them to the IPL 2022 final and a 2024 playoff berth, where he amassed 531 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), hunting for an Indian wicketkeeper, are also circling, but Samson's personal preference, say sources, could be Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi in their ranks, Royals could cut Samson loose to bolster their middle order. Importantly, should RR part ways with Samson, it will be intriguing to see who steps up to lead the team. Last season, Riyan Parag captained the side for four games but his inexperience shone through. With a pool of youngsters like Jaiswal and Jurel to choose from, the franchise will need to weigh its options carefully as it navigates this transition. The Jaipur-based franchise has almost two months to take a call, since the IPL trade window and the deadline to release players is usually open until November. IPL: CSK may free up purse to add firepower; Dhoni likely to play
Chennai Super Kings (Getty Images) Likes of Ashwin, Conway, Curran & others could be on their way out before next IPL auction CHENNAI: The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are looking to rebuild after a nightmarish Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2025. Even though a new core of younger players like Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel and Dewald Brevis filled some of the holes in the top order, CSK are set to part ways with some of their older stars so that there's money in the auction to go for some match-winners. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! While R Ashwin , the premier India off-spinner who was bought for Rs 9.75 cr, seems to be on his way out, there is also a question mark over future of players like Devon Conway (Rs 6.25 cr), Rachin Ravindra (Rs 4 cr), Rahul Tripathi (Rs 3.4 cr), Sam Curran (Rs 2.4 cr), Gurjapneet Singh (2.2 cr), Nathan Ellis (2 cr), Deepak Hooda (1.75 cr), Jamie Overton (1.5 cr) and Vijay Shankar (1.2 cr). That could open up a purse of Rs 34.45 cr and with some additional purse, CSK may go into the auctions with something in the vicinity Rs 40 cr. Poll How likely is MS Dhoni to play in the next IPL season? Very likely Somewhat likely Unlikely The team, struggling with a lack of firepower in the top and middle order, will look to strengthen three areas — a hitter at the top, a middle-order Indian enforcer and a quality allrounder. Can Samson deal go through? Meanwhile, Sanju Samson , who seems to be on his way out of Rajasthan Royals , is a player CSK are interested in. But it may be difficult for the franchise to get him before the auction because the team is not keen on exchanging any of its key marquee players like Ruturaj Gaikwad , Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana and Shivam Dube. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo It is unlikely that RR will be keen to pay for any of the CSK players who seem to be on their way out, given the huge amounts they commanded from last year's auction. The only way Samson can become a CSK player before the auction is if RR accept a 'cash-only' deal. It's easier said than done and the CSK management will need to do a lot of convincing. It's to be seen if the good relationship that CSK owners share with RR coach Rahul Dravid will have any role to play in the deal going through. CSK may target one among Cameron Green, Mitchell Owen and Ben Stokes as one of their allround options from the auction. Dhoni likely to play next season There has been no indication from MS Dhoni that he will not play next season. The last season didn't go well and the franchise believes that their former captain will be part of the playing mix for one more season. Dhoni himself said he will take the call after some time, looking at how his body shapes up. A clearer picture is likely to emerge mid-Sept as more detailed discussions for next season begin.
