Prime Minister Meets Electricity Ministry Leadership, Assesses Damage to Haziz and Dhabhan Power Stations
Sana'a - Saba: Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi met today with Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water Dr. Ali Saif, his deputy Adel Badr, and other senior officials, including the heads of the General Corporation for Electrical Industries and the Public Electricity Corporation. During the meeting, they discussed the emergency plan prepared by the ministry and its affiliated agencies to address current challenges in the electricity sector. The Prime Minister was briefed on the extent of damage caused by Israeli aggression to the central power generation stations in Dhabhan and Haziz, which were completely destroyed and rendered inoperable, as well as the damage to the Asr and Jadar substations. Despite the severe destruction, the ministry, through the Public Electricity Corporation, has taken measures to restore services and resume power supply. Al-Rahwi praised the efforts of the technical teams from the ministry and electricity corporation for their rapid response in restoring power through alternative emergency plans, despite the extensive damage inflicted by Israeli attacks. He emphasized that all damages can be repaired and compensated with strong will, particularly given the expertise and competent personnel within the ministry and electricity institutions capable of rebuilding and repairing the destruction caused by the ongoing aggression against Yemen since March 2015. During his field visit to the Dhabhan and Haziz stations, accompanied by the electricity minister, his deputy, and other officials, Al-Rahwi inspected the scale of destruction caused by Israeli targeting. In a media statement, he condemned the "Zionist enemy's criminal aggression" against Yemen and Gaza, marked by "hatred, arrogance, and brutality." He reaffirmed that Yemen—under its leadership, government, and people—will continue supporting Gaza, regardless of the repercussions, based on religious, moral, and humanitarian principles. He vowed to rebuild what the aggression has destroyed. Al-Rahwi expressed pride in the public's steadfast support for the leadership, armed forces, and government, commending the Electricity Ministry's swift restoration efforts and the role of other key sectors—health, environment, transport, public works, oil, and minerals—in mitigating the aggression's impact. Concluding his remarks, he declared: "No matter how the enemies conspire against us, we will not retreat from supporting Gaza until the aggression ends and the siege is lifted."
