Zain Group reports exceptional Performance for H1 2025
Zain Group, a leading provider of innovative ICT and digital lifestyle communications, operating in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, announces its consolidated financial results for second quarter (Q2) and sixmonths (H1) ended 30 June 2025. Zain served 50.9 million customers at the end H1 2025, a 7% increase Year-on-Year (YOY), driven by network restoration in Sudan and expansion in Iraq. Zain Group H1 2025 revenue soared 14% YoY to reach KD 1.1 billion (USD 3.5 billion). EBITDA grew 10% YoY to reach KD 356 million (USD 1.2 billion), reflecting an EBITDA margin of 33%. Net income for the first six months soared 49% YoY, reaching KD 121 million (USD 395 million). Net income for H1 2025 includes one-time gain of KD 15 million (USD 50 million) on settlement of legal dispute involving INWI, of which Zain Group is a 15.5% shareholder (via Zain Al Ajial). H1 2025 Earnings per share stood at 28 fils (USD 0.09). Zain Group Q2 2025 revenue grew 13% to reach KD 541 million (USD 1.8 billion) compared to Q2 2024. EBITDA reached KD 186 million (USD 606 million), reflecting a healthy EBITDA margin of 34%. Net income soared 40% to reach KD 73 million (USD 237 million), reflecting earnings per share of 17 fils (USD 0.05). Commenting on Q2 and H1 2025 results, Chairman of Zain Group, Mr. Osamah Al Furaih said, 'The Group's strong performance underscores the productive alliance between the Board and executive management teams of all our entities in delivering our '4WARD—Progress with Purpose' strategy. The Flexi Wealth Builder Plan, an individual unit-linked whole - life policy, stands out with its limited payment terms of 10, 15, or 20 years. This plan allows policyholders to start investment with a monthly premium of USD 300 and maximum without upper limit to effectively manage and grow their wealth through investments in various market - linked funds, with the investm ent risk borne by the policyholder. Designed to provide access to a wide range of USD-based funds across different asset classes, the plan also offers provisions for additional premium top-ups. The plan offers significant benefits, such as a death benefit that pays out 101% of the fund value to the nominee in the event of the policyholder's passing. With no charges for fund switching and no mortality charges, the plan ensures transparency and control for customers through an online ULIP portal, allowing them to monitor and manage their investments. Mr. Pattanaik emphasized that the Flexi Wealth Builder Plan combines life insurance and investment benefits, providing financial security for loved ones while helping individuals achieve their financial objectives. Fund switching enables policyholders to adapt their investments according to market conditions, and the topup option allows for enhanced contributions as financial needs evolve. This plan is particularly suitable for investors with medium to long-term goals, accommodating various risk tolerances and life stages. Mr. Pattanaik advised that early investment maximizes growth potential, especially given potential charges for early withdrawals. As a unit-linked product, the Flexi Wealth Builder Plan offers the potential for higher returns by investing in diversified asset classes managed by experienced fund managers, allowing policyholders to adjust their portfolios based on market performance.

Efficiency Push Powers Profits
TDT| Manama A sharp improvement in efficiency has helped Al Salam Bank deliver record profits for the first half of 2025, strengthening its position among Bahrain's fastest-growing lenders. The cost-to-income ratio fell from 49.9% to 45.3% in just one year, underscoring the bank's drive to get more value out of every dinar spent. Efficiency push pays off Net profits attributable to shareholders climbed 30.9% to USD 98.2 million for the six months to June 30, up from USD 75 million a year earlier. Return on equity rose to 16.9% from 15.6%, while earnings per share increased 29.0% to USD 31.8 cents. The bank credited its core banking growth and a series of optimisation initiatives for the results. The efficiency gains came alongside balance sheet growth. Total assets rose 10.8% to USD 20.76 billion, with financing assets up 8.3% to USD 10.52 billion and customer deposits growing 7.1% to USD 14.07 billion since the end of 2024. Capital strength supports growth Shareholders' equity expanded by 11.7% to USD 1.07 billion, bolstered by the record profit and a USD 450 million Additional Tier 1 capital issuance. This pushed the capital adequacy ratio to 25.2% as of June 30, compared with 24.8% last year. H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Mustahail Al Mashani, Chairman of Al Salam Bank, said the ability to sustain growth despite volatile global markets was a defining strength, pointing to the role of strong fundamentals and disciplined risk management. Forward-looking strategy Group CEO Rafik Nayed said the efficiency drive was part of a broader plan to invest in digital innovation, expand regional capabilities through ASB Capital, and strengthen client relationships. He added that the bank would continue to focus on both banking and asset management for long-term, diversified growth.
