Three youths arrested after robbery in Prince George, B.C.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Police have arrested three youths following a robbery that took place in Prince George, B.C., last week. Officers were called to the 700 block of Central Street just after 11 p.m., Aug. 6, amid 'multiple reports' a female was being assaulted in a parking lot near a bank, Prince George RCMP said in a release Monday. The group of three had approached the victim, assaulted her, and stolen her bank card and money, Mounties said. The youths also allegedly attempted to steal her vehicle keys, but fled as police arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. According to Mounties, the youths were found thanks to the help of nearby witnesses, and were arrested shortly after. The suspects were held in police custody for a court hearing Aug.7, and have since been released on conditions. 'Thankfully, witnesses in the area heard the altercation and immediately reported the incident to police,' said Const. Jenna Moore in the release. 'Frontline officers responded quickly leading to the arrest of all three youth suspects.' Anyone who believes they witnessed the incident or has relevant CCTV or dash camera video, taken between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Aug. 6, is asked to contact police at 250-561-3300. The RCMP are the hoping incident serves as a reminder to the public to be vigilant of their surroundings, and the importance of reporting these types of matters to police, Moore said.

Travel doc info included in WestJet cyberattack, but not credit and debit cards
WestJet passenger jets parked at departure gates at the Calgary International Airport on Wednesday, May 31, CANADIAN PRESS/Jeff McIntosh CALGARY — WestJet says some personal data including information about travel documents such as passports was stolen in a cyberattack earlier this year, but credit and debit card numbers as well as user passwords were not compromised. In a note to customers, WestJet says the personal information taken varies from person to person but may include name, date of birth, e‑mail address, mailing address, phone number, gender and recent travel booking history, including travel booking numbers. It says the stolen data may also include information about the travel documents used by passengers when travelling with WestJet, such as passports or other government-issued identification documents, and other information. WestJet warned the stolen information could be used for identity theft or fraud and says it's offering affected customers identity theft and monitoring free of charge for 24 months. The airline says it identified suspicious activity on its systems on June 13 and found criminals temporarily accessed some of its systems. The office of Canada's privacy commissioner has opened an investigation into the incident. The Canadian Press
