As reported by CNN, the shooting happened around 11 a.m. local time. Officials said the shooter used his personal handgun to fire at fellow soldiers. The suspect was subdued by other soldiers at the scene and was arrested by 11:35 am, nearly 40 minutes after the firing began.
According to CNN, five soldiers were injured in the shooting.
Two of them were shifted to the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.Three others were being treated at an Army hospital.
All five are said to be in stable condition and are expected to recover, as per Army officials.
The shooter has been identified as a 28-year-old Sgt. Quornelius Radford, originally from Jacksonville, Florida. He is an active-duty soldier assigned to the same brigade where the incident occurred and joined the Army in 2018 as an automated logistical specialist.

The shooter is now in custody and the Army Criminal Investigation Division is on site to ensure that the perpetrator of this atrocity, which is exactly what it is, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Trump said on Wednesday before an event at the White House, according to CNN.
He added, "The entire nation is praying for the victims and their families, and hopefully they'll fully recover, and we can put this chapter behind. But we're not going to forget what happened. We're going to take very good care of this person who did this, a horrible person."
US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth also commented on the incident on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a "cowardly shooting."
"We owe profound gratitude to the law enforcement heroes who charged into danger. Swift justice will be brought to the perpetrator and anyone else found to be involved," he wrote.

Fresh incident of firing at Kapil Sharma's Cafe in Surrey, Canada: Reports

Surrey: Shots were reportedly fired at Indian comedian and actor Kapil Sharma's Kap's Cafe in Surrey, the second such incident reported in less than a month, according to a report by Indo-Canadian Voice. A viral social media post, allegedly shared by gangster Goldy Dhillon and attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. "Jai Shri Ram... aaj jo Kapil Sharma ke Kap's Cafe, Surrey mein firing hui hai, iski zimmedari Goldy Dhillon te Lawrence Bishnoi gang leti hai... next karwai jald hi Mumbai mein karenge, (Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gang take responsibility for today's firing at Kaps Cafe in Surrey, we will now do this in Mumbai next), " the post read. However, no independent verification of the claim has been made so far. Surrey Police authorities have not shared detail about the firing at Kaps Cafe so far. Further details are awaited. This reported attack comes less than a month after a shooting incident at the same cafe in the second week of July, when several gunshots were fired. Police had launched an investigation into the attack, the Vancouver Sun had reported. Several gunshots had rung outside Kap's Cafe at 1:50 am (local time), according to Surrey Police Service. Police had said some staff members had been present inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting. No one was injured in the incident. The cafe had opened earlier that week. At least 10 bullet holes were seen in a window at Kap's Cafe that morning, while another window pane was shattered. The building where the cafe is located has retail units at ground level and residential apartments above; however, it was not known how many residents live in the building. A multi-faith centre and two other yet-to-be-opened businesses occupy other ground-level units. Officers were seen in the restaurant gathering evidence while children played across the street outside a daycare in the Newton neighbourhood, which had been cordoned off by police tape, as reported by Vancouver Sun. Spokesperson Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said police were aware of reports in Indian media claiming that a Khalistani separatist had claimed responsibility for the shooting. In a statement, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) said the investigation was still in the very early stages and that "connections to other incidents and potential motives are being examined." Police did not have a suspect description and the motive behind the shooting had not been determined, Vancouver Sun reported. Houghton added officers were still speaking to witnesses and working to obtain CCTV footage. He said, "Once that's done, we'll have a better idea of what happened."

US sanctions 6 Indian companies over Iran oil trade

Washington DC: The United States has imposed sanctions on at least half a dozen Indian companies accused of trading in Iranian petroleum and petrochemicals as part of broader action targeting 20 entities worldwide. The US Department of State announced the sanctions on Wednesday, alleging the Indian firms knowingly engaged in "significant transactions" for the purchase and marketing of Iranian petroleum products, violating American sanctions on Iran. The sanctioned Indian companies include some of the country's major petrochemical traders. Alchemical Solutions Private Limited faces the largest allegations, accused of importing Iranian petrochemical products worth over USD 84 million between January and December 2024. Global Industrial Chemicals Limited is alleged to have purchased Iranian petrochemicals, including methanol, valued at over USD 51 million between July 2024 and January 2025. Jupiter Dye Chem Private Limited reportedly imported Iranian products, including toluene worth over USD 49 million, during the same period. Ramniklal S Gosalia and Company is accused of purchasing Iranian petrochemicals worth over USD 22 million, including methanol and toluene. Persistent Petrochem Private Limited allegedly imported approximately USD 14 million worth of Iranian petrochemicals, particularly methanol, between October and December 2024. Kanchan Polymers is said to have purchased over USD 1.3 million worth of Iranian polyethene products. Under the sanctions, all assets of these companies in the United States or controlled by US persons are now frozen. American individuals and companies are prohibited from conducting business with the sanctioned entities. The action also blocks any entity that is 50 per cent or more owned by the sanctioned companies. The sanctions come as the US continues its "maximum pressure" campaign against Iran, targeting what it calls the country's "shadow fleet" of vessels and intermediary companies that help transport Iranian oil and petrochemicals globally. US officials say Iran uses revenue from oil and petrochemical exports to fund what Washington describes as "destabilising activities" in the Middle East and support for terrorist groups. India has historically maintained trade relationships with Iran, though it has reduced Iranian oil imports significantly since 2019 following previous US sanctions. The sanctioned companies can petition for removal from the US Treasury's Specially Designated Nationals list. The US government says the "ultimate goal of sanctions is not to punish, but to bring about a positive change in behaviour." Companies wishing to contest their designation can submit petitions to the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, according to a fact sheet shared by the US Department of State. The sanctions also targeted companies in Turkey, the UAE, China, and Indonesia as part of what US officials describe as a global network facilitating Iranian oil and petrochemical trade.
