power modules business
for Rs 118.34 crore.
Fujitsu will transfer the business to Larsen & Toubro's fabless chip company and related production facilities to Kaynes, which will in turn manufacture these products for LTSCT, the companies said.
The transaction is expected to close on June 23, pending regulatory clearance under Japan's Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act.
'The new
OSAT facility
being setup in Sanand, Gujarat, is launching its operations with a focus on the global power device packaging market,' Raghu Panicker, chief executive of Kaynes Semicon, told ET.
Mysuru-based Kaynes is one of the production contractors for LTSCT. The LTSCT specialises in semiconductor product development, manufacturing, and sales. Kaynes is one of the four companies under the India Semiconductor Mission 1.0 building OSATs in the country.

Panicker said the deal is supported by two major initiatives: a multi-million-dollar, high-volume service agreement with its customer Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS) and the acquisition of three power packaging lines from Fujitsu Electronics Ltd Japan.
'The partnership with AOS will cover core power devices like IGBTs, power modules and MOSFETs with volumes projected to reach nearly 670 million units annually, while the Fujitsu technology provides immediate capability for high-reliability automotive and industrial-grade power modules, adding a production capacity of approximately 0.6 million units per month,' he said.
These moves position the company as a significant new player in the
power electronics supply chain
, Panicker said.
By combining a foundational, high-volume customer with advanced packaging technology and immediate production capacity, the company is poised to meet the surging global demand for power semiconductors driven by the
electric vehicles
,
renewable energy
, and industrial automation sectors, he said.
This establishes a vital new capability in India's domestic semiconductor ecosystem and addresses the global need for a more resilient and diverse manufacturing footprint for power devices.
L&T has invested more than $300 million to create LTSCT.
Fujitsu General, in a regulatory filing on Monday, announced the divestiture of its power module business operated by its consolidated subsidiary, Fujitsu General Electronics (FGEL).
This transaction is expected to result in the recording of an extraordinary gain of approximately 2 billion yen (about $13.8 million) from the business transfer in the April-June 2025 quarter, it said.
Reasons for the Divestiture
FGEL's tech solutions division is involved in the development, manufacturing, and sale of electronic devices, as well as the manufacturing of information and communication equipment. The divestiture of the power module business is part of a broader portfolio transformation within the electronic device business, aimed at strengthening the Fujitsu General Group's business foundation, it said.

Delhi govt to clear pending applications for pensions
New Delhi: With nearly 80,000 applications from senior citizens awaiting approval under the govt's monthly pension scheme, social welfare minister Ravindra Indraj Singh has directed the department to clear all pending applications within 15 days. The aim is to ensure that only eligible individuals continue to receive financial assistance. According to officials, the department had invited applications in Dec 2024 from senior citizens eligible for the pension scheme. Although the scheme has a cap of 5.3 lakh beneficiaries aged 60 and above, only 4.3 lakh are currently registered. The online portal for registration was closed once the number of applicants reached 80,000. Applicants were also required to obtain a recommendation from their area legislator at the time of applying. More than five months have passed since the applications were received, yet the department has not completed the verification process. "Each form needs to be thoroughly checked to ensure the applicant meets the eligibility criteria. The minister has issued strict instructions to expedite the process and ensure eligible applicants start receiving their pensions immediately," said an official. "This process will also help determine how many slots are still available. At the same time, a physical verification drive will begin soon to weed out ineligible beneficiaries, making room for more deserving applicants," the official added. The agency tasked with the verification will be paid Rs 100 per beneficiary. A mobile application, integrated with the e-district portal, will be developed to enable seamless data collection during the verification process. Under the scheme, those aged between 60 and 69 years receive Rs 2,000 per month, while those 70 and above are entitled to Rs 2,500. Meet QRSAM – India's Strongest Rs 30,000 Cr Missile Wall That Will Crush Pakistan's Drones, Block China's Jets
New Delhi: India is set to bring home a deadly new shield, the Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) system, in a deal worth Rs 30,000 crore. It is fast and smart. And it kills moving threats in seconds. It is a mobile missile defence system designed to track and destroy enemy aircraft and drones in real-time. It reacts quickly, locks onto fast-moving targets and takes them out in a flash. This new system will be deployed near the Pakistan and China borders. Three full regiments will protect the skies. Sources say the Ministry of Defence is ready to seal the deal with the DRDO. The QRSAM is a beast in battle. It can track enemy aircraft from 120 km away. It can lock onto threats from 80 km. And it does not wait. It finds. It fires. It finishes. It works in the day. It works at night. It can move from place to place. And most importantly, it takes down moving targets at short notice. The QRSAM will strengthen India's short-to-medium range air defence, support systems like MRSAM and Akash and fill the gaps by intercepting threats that sneak in under radar coverage. With a range of 30 km, it will team up with India's other missiles such as MRSAM and Akash to trap anything that tries to enter Indian airspace. A top-level meeting is expected later this month. Sources say QRSAM could soon be inducted into the armed forces. After May's Conflict, India Moves Fast From May 7 to 10, India and Pakistan clashed in a shadow war. Pakistan fired Chinese missiles. It sent Israeli drones. But none could breach India's air shield. Akashteer, S-400 and Iron Drone systems struck them down mid-air. Not a single missile made it to its target. Akashteer became the unexpected hero. It is powered by artificial intelligence. It controls all ground air-defence systems through one brain. It connects radars, sensors and comms in real time. That edge saved lives. Difference between QRSAM and S-400 S-400 is a long-range defence system with a reach of up to 400 km. The QRSAM is for short-range and fast-reaction strikes within 30 km. While S-400 locks onto threats from far away, the QRSAM is designed to handle close-in, sudden threats like low-flying jets and drones. S-400 is the king of India's air defence. It blocks enemy missiles, rockets, drones and fighter jets. Russia made it. India bought five units in 2018 for Rs 40,000 crore. Each unit is mobile. It can move fast. Its radar sees targets from 600 km away. Within minutes, it is ready to fire. It can track 160 targets at once and launch two missiles per threat. The version India has hits from 400 km away. It can also strike threats 30 km above the ground. That makes it one of the world's most advanced defence systems. With QRSAM joining forces with Akash, S-400 and Iron Dome-style defences, India is building an air wall no missile can cross.
