Rankin was selected by the Navy All-American Bowl Selection Committee, comprised of the All-American Bowl, 247Sports, and NXGN. Navy All-Americans are eligible for the Navy All-American Bowl Player of the Year Award, Anthony Muñoz Lineman of the Year Award, Navy All-American Bowl Defensive Player of the Year Award, Navy All-American Bowl Man of the Year, and Navy All-American Bowl Game MVP Award.
Only 100 football players receive the honor of wearing the Navy All-American Bowl jersey each year. The 2026 Navy All-American Bowl from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, will be presented live on NBC and Peacock.

Durant, Rockets reportedly have 'no sense of urgency' to get contract extension done
Kevin Durant is entering the final season of his current contract, paying him $54.7 million, and part of what he was looking for in a landing spot was a team willing to pay him a healthy extension off that contract. The Houston Rockets are willing to do that. However, there is no urgency on either side to get this extension done, ESPN's Tim MacMahon said earlier this week on NBA Today. 'There's not a sense of urgency to get it done right now. The Rockets have other business that they need to handle this summer. … I think you're going to see both sides take a patient approach. They will work together. I don't think this is an urgent situation, and even if they get to camp, even if they get to the start of the season. If it's not done, I don't think you're going to see panic from either side. They want to work together, they want to position themselves to win a championship.' The deal is going to get done, the only question is money. MacMahon echoed what we have written about previously: This is not going to be a contract for the two-year, $122 million max, and the question is what number will it be? $100 million? Less? (No team can offer Durant more than two years on a contract due to the over-38 rule.) Whatever that number ends up being, we're a long way from any serious drama about an extension being reached. Both sides want to get a deal done, and technically they have until June 30, 2026, to work it out. Until we get to around the All-Star break, there's not much to stress over.

National Football League Cincinnati Bengals Assessing Options at Safety With Starter Geno Stone Injured Published Aug. 15, 2025 12:01 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link After the Cincinnati Bengals secondary struggled in the preseason opener, starting safety Geno Stone learned that he has a soft tissue injury that has him out on a "week-to-week" basis. Those recent developments gave the Bengals a lot to discuss and work on heading into their second preseason game against the Washington Commanders on Monday night. Coach Zac Taylor said that the Philadelphia Eagles' success against the Bengals in last week's preseason opener showed the Bengals defensive backs some areas to focus on going forward. Penalties from the Bengals also made a big difference last week, and Taylor wants to see those cleaned up in Washington. "We were just in a lot of one-on-one positions where we were fingertip away a lot of times," Taylor said. "Continue to be competitive, continue to be detailed up on scrimmage. I think overall, operationally, there were some things on offense, defense and special teams that we've we've got to be better at. That had nothing to do with Philly, and that's, that's one of our primary focuses right now as a team, not having a joint practice this week." Without Stone in the short term, Tycen Anderson, Daijahn Anthony and PJ Jules have been battling for first-team reps on defense. Even though the Bengals didn't utilize their safety depth last season, they only added undrafted free agents into that position group. As a result, the backups behind Stone who are now contenders for a first-team role are getting their first real chance to show what they're capable of in a starting opportunity. ADVERTISEMENT Anthony played some backup slot cornerback during the first two weeks last season. But after he committed a key penalty, he lost that role and didn't play much during the rest of his rookie season. He has received a fresh start in 2025 with a new defensive coordinator, and he has been Stone's primary backup as the second-team free safety. "Safety is just slowing down for me now," Anthony said. "What's changed the most is that Coach Al (Golden) has given us our own freedom. He gives us the tools and played to run. Then, he gives us the opportunity to make those plays and run the show back there. That's the biggest change for me. There's not as much stress with this is exactly what we have to do." Anderson, a fifth-round pick in 2022, has played one career defensive snap while establishing himself as the team's top special teamer. He has played in 24 total games, and Anderson has 18 total tackles in the NFL on special teams. Jules was an undrafted free agent last season who spent 2024 on the Bengals' practice squad. An interception last Sunday during practice with the second team opened some eyes and led to him getting more opportunities. "I don't care who you are, how you got here, I'll give you the same promise my coach gave me 15 years ago," safeties coach Jordan Kovacs said. "The best players will play. Every spot is open. Let's go compete and let's see how good we can get. Because competition is ultimately what's going to make us better players." Taylor also didn't rule out the Bengals adding a free-agent option at the safety position. "That's a group that we're looking to make sure we're deep enough there, so they're gonna continue to get a lot of opportunities," Taylor said. Reporting by The Associated Press. 10-year-old chess prodigy makes history with win over 60-year-old grandmaster
A 10-year-old girl who started playing chess five years ago has made history by defeating a grandmaster, according to the International Chess Federation. Bodhana Sivanandan won against Peter Wells, a 60-year-old grandmaster, in the final round of the 2025 British Chess Championships in Liverpool on Aug. 10, according to a post shared on X by the federation, known as FIDE, the governing body of chess. The win makes Bodhana the youngest female chess player in history to score a win against a grandmaster, according to the FIDE, which awards the title of grandmaster to a select group of the world's top chess players. According to the FIDE, Bodhana was 10 years, 5 months and 3 days old when she defeated Wells on Sunday. That put her ahead of the previous record holder, American chess player Carissa Yip, who was 10 years, 11 months and 20 days old when she defeated a grandmaster in 2019. Bodhana, who is from the United Kingdom, started playing chess at age 5 when she was gifted a chess set, her parents told ABC News last year. She learned the game of chess by watching YouTube videos and then began to compete in tournaments, first locally and then internationally. "I really liked the pieces, especially the knight and the queen, and I wanted to use them as toys. But, my dad told me that I couldn't because then the next person who got it couldn't play," Bodhana told ABC News. "So instead, I just started playing." Bodhana added that as she has improved, she has no fear about going against players who may be more experienced than her. "I like to play harder opponents so if I lose, I can learn from them, and I can learn from what they are doing," she said. Malcolm Pein, director of international chess at the English Chess Federation and an international master of chess himself, told ABC News last year that he believes Bodhana has a chance to be the greatest women's chess player of all time. "We're sure that Bodhana will become a grandmaster one day -- we're absolutely sure of that, given her current meteoric rise," Pein said. Bodhana's mother Lakshmy Sivanandan told ABC News that outside of being a chess prodigy, her daughter is a "normal" kid with lots of interests -- including piano, violin and soccer -- and ambitions. "In year one, she wanted to become the prime minister of the United Kingdom. And along with that, she wants to become a doctor. And before those two, she wants to become a grandmaster ... and participate in the World Championship," Sivanandan said. "So yeah, anything is possible. So we just encourage her to go forward with her dreams."
