Hiker disappears from ‘Edge of the World' campground on trip with father
Coconino County officials responded to reports of a woman who had gone missing from a campsite in an area known as the "Edge of the World" around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13. Janelle Banda, 32, had left her campsite and was believed to have descended a nearby canyon, the Coconino County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's search and rescue teams immediately began searching for Banda, "including a nighttime descent into the canyon," but despite their efforts on June 13, they did not find the missing woman that evening and continued their search over the weekend with support from other agencies.
On Monday, the sheriff's search and rescue teams again descended into the canyon and successfully located Banda around noon.
"She was found dehydrated and suffering from minor injuries," the sheriff's office said.
Banda had been hiking with her father when she vanished from their campsite for unknown reasons, her sister, Sarah Banda, told FOX 10 Phoenix.
"Even when we felt at our lowest, right, usually by the end of the day you feel it, right? It's dark, and we know she's alone, but we were like, wherever she is, we will find her," Sarah told the outlet.
Now, Banda's family is focused on her recovery, and they are grateful for those who helped find her, her sister told FOX 10.

"Maryvale is a beautiful, resilient community and I am shocked and deeply saddened by what took place here today," Andrade said at the press briefing, calling the incident a "senseless tragedy." The school will be on a modified schedule on Wednesday to provide "extensive emotional support and counseling to our students and to our staff," Andrade said. Firefighters cut open playground slide to rescue 40-year-old man stuck inside
A Connecticut man has been saved from a slippery situation. An unidentified 40-year-old got himself stuck inside a tube slide at an elementary school playground in Vernon, Connecticut, on Aug. 16. Just after 4:30 p.m., the Town of Vernon Fire Department, Vernon EMS and Vernon Police Department responded and were dispatched to Northeast Elementary School, according to a Facebook post by the fire department. The first units that arrived on the scene found the man wedged headfirst in the middle portion of the slide. Additional help was requested, including a fire truck, Rescue 141 and Tower 541. The man was provided ventilation and oxygen via EMS, as he was reportedly in "extreme discomfort" in the hot summer temperatures. "As Rescue 141 was deploying tools for the extrication, Tower 541 set up adjacent to the playground on the grass and used the aerial ladder as a high point to stabilize the section of slide the firefighters were removing to reach the patient," the fire department described on Facebook. Within 30 minutes, the man was freed after the responders were able to remove the lower section of the slide, splitting it in two. The man reportedly refused treatment and transport to an emergency room. "While this is a unique call for service for the fire department, the professionalism shown on scene was exemplary," Vernon Fire Department reflected in the Facebook post, which has received viral attention from the public. One Facebook user commented, "New fear unlocked. Kudos to that man for being active with his kids, and for teaching me a valuable lesson about tube slides." "Imagine getting stuck [and] then they do a whole photo shoot of it for you," another commented. "Poor guy."

Authorities, community team up to find missing New London, Minnesota, man
Aug. 19---- A 76-year-old man was treated and later released after a drone located him Monday evening in a wooded area in rural Sunburg. According to a news release from the the man was out checking deer stands with his 77-year-old friend from when their all-terrain vehicle became stuck. His friend went to find assistance and the two became separated. A missing persons report was made shortly after 6 p.m. Monday. Deputies learned the New London man had been missing for more than three hours and had a medical condition. A search of the area — in the 9900 block of Minnesota Highway 9, east of Sunburg — was quickly organized and included ATVs, drones, K-9 units, a helicopter and people searching on foot. At around 8:40 p.m., the man was located by a drone. Searchers on an ATV were guided to his location and brought him to medical personnel waiting at the scene. He was transported by ambulance to CentraCare — Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, where he was treated and later released. The sheriff's office was assisted by the Sunburg Ambulance, Sunburg Fire Department, New London Fire Department, Lakes Area Rural Responders, Minnesota State Patrol Air Wing and troopers, and civilian volunteers. In a written statement, Sheriff Eric Tollefson wrote, "The Sheriff's Office extends its appreciation to all who contributed to the search and is thankful for the successful outcome."
