Independent8 hours ago
This is the moment a group of 'dine and dashers' were caught running out of an Indian restaurant in Northampton without paying their £200 bill.
CCTV footage shows a group of four men being shown to their seats at Saffron, where they enjoyed a £200 meal on Monday, 4 August.
The men can then be seen quickly running out of the restaurant before settling the bill, with a waiter following in hot pursuit.
Following the incident, the restaurant issued an appeal to identify the suspects.
In a Facebook post, they said: 'This kind of behaviour isn't just theft, it affects hardworking small businesses and our local community.'

Trans Met volunteer officer groomed child and told her 'she enjoyed being raped', court hears

A transgender Scotland Yard volunteer officer raped two young girls after grooming them online, a court heard. Gwyn Samuels, who was born a man named James Bubb, told one victim she 'enjoyed being raped' and forced her to perform a sex act in public which was interrupted by a dog walker, prosecutors said. The 27-year-old groomed both victims, one of whom was just 12, on internet 'chat roulette' site Omegle while posing as a 16-year-old, jurors heard. They arranged to meet the first girl at a Christian festival where she was camping with her parents, before sexually assaulting her shortly before her 13th birthday, Amersham Courts heard. Samuels began a 'BDSM' relationship with their second alleged victim when she was 18 and is said to have refused her calls to stop while they were 're-enacting' a rape scenario. Samuels, who now identifies as a trans woman, denies seven counts relating to the first alleged victim - including rape of a child under 13 - and with one count of rape relating to the second victim. Richard Milne, prosecuting, said Samuels' first victim believed she was in a relationship with them and they first met in person at Soul Survivor festival in 2018 when Samuels was working as a steward. Samuels had never asked her for proof of age, and she had a child's bracelet pass for the event – a different colour to those for adults, the court heard. Gwyn Samuels, who was born a man named James Bubb, told one victim she 'enjoyed being raped' and forced her to perform a sex act in public which was interrupted by a dog walker, prosecutors said The 27-year-old groomed both victims, one of whom was just 12, on internet 'chat roulette' site Omegle while posing as a 16-year-old, jurors heard '[Samuels] confirmed to [the girl] that they were in a relationship, but that it had to be hidden when they were in public,' Mr Milne said. The following year, when the girl was staying in London with her parents, the pair met again in a park and Samuels told her to remove her tights before groping her through her underwear, the court heard. She asked Samuels to stop, but then they forced her to perform oral sex before pulling up their trousers 'in a panic' after spotting a dogwalker, the court heard. They met again in 2020, when the girl was 13 or 14, and Samuels took her to their flat in northwest London and allegedly raped her. Samuels would 'choke, punch and hit' the girl during this activity, the court heard, and told her she 'enjoyed being raped.' This sexual activity carried on for three years, before the girl overdosed and was in hospital for two and a half weeks, the court heard. Samuels' trial is expected to last six days and is taking place at Amersham Law Courts She reported Samuels on the Metropolitan Police website and officers who arrested them last year also interviewed another female who had been in a relationship with them for about five years. 'She describes the relationship as not healthy,' Mr Milne said of the second female. 'She told police some of the sexual encounters were not entirely consensual.' She said Samuels would engage in 'knife play' in the bedroom, enacted rape scenarios and Samuels would use 'officer training techniques' to restrain her without permission. '[The complainant] stated that she would say no or stop to [Samuels] when she no longer consented and [she] would carry on,' Mr Milne said. '[The complainant] cannot recall how many times this happened.' Samuels, from Buckinghamshire who appeared in the dock dressed in a white shirt and black cardigan with glasses and long red hair, denies the charges. The trial, which is expected to last six days, continues.

‘Assault' on Tube flasher under investigation, police confirm

The man reportedly exposed himself on a Hammersmith and City line train at around 3.30pm on Thursday. When challenged by passengers on the eastbound train at Upton Park station, the man began shouting, repeatedly telling them to 'f--- off'. One passenger responded: 'What do you mean f--- off? You need to get off the f---ing train. Now. There are kids on here.' The man continued to shout expletives and wave his belt, while exposing himself, as more commuters intervened and detained him. A fight appeared to break out, as the group punched and kicked him to the floor of the carriage. He could then be seen with his hands forced behind his back and was eventually bundled off the train by a group of men. A photograph showed him being pinned to the ground on the platform. Several passengers then waited with him on the platform at East Ham station for more help to arrive. BTP has appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward. No arrests have been made. A spokesman said: 'Officers were called to reports of a man exposing himself on the District Line at East Ham Underground station at around 3.30pm Thursday (7 August). 'The man had been assaulted by a number of other passengers and was initially arrested by an off duty officer, before being detained under the mental health act and taken to hospital where he remains. 'An investigation into the incident is ongoing.'
