If you're looking for things to do with the kids during the summer holidays, a family day out to Chessington World of Adventures is always a hit – and you can now save £40
As the kids get ready to break up for their summer holiday, it can suddenly feel like you've got an endless amount of time to fill to keep them busy. Booking family days out can end up being expensive, especially if you have more than one child, which is why we've tracked down a great way to save yourself almost £40 on one fun-filled family day out.
When you book via Virgin Experience Days, you can nab yourself a visit to Chessington World of Adventures for a family of four with 24% slashed off the usual price. Whilst the experience would usually cost £152, for a limited time you can snap it up for £116 thanks to Virgin Experience Days' summer sale, saving you £36.
By booking the experience, you'll get access for a group of four people to the whole theme park – it doesn't matter how many kids or adults make up the four people (although children obviously must be accompanied by a grown up!). Plus, anyone under 90cm will also get free admittance alongside your group, which makes it great if you have younger kids tagging along too.
As well as granting you access to all 40 rides and attractions in 10 different themed lands, the Chessington World of Adventures experience will also give you admission into the zoo and the sea life centre with more than 1000 exotic animals, so you can make a whole day of it. The voucher will also be valid until October 2025, although be sure to double check this when you book!
An experience day is always a great way to save some money on a family trip, not to mention handy for giving you some ideas on how to keep the kids entertained while they're off school. Other sites worth checking out for ideas include Red Letter Days and Visit Britain, which are both full of great day out ideas in locations across the country.
There are also plenty of nationwide activities and experiences to book through Virgin Experience Days, so if you don't fancy making the journey to Surrey for Chessington World of Adventures, you can always find other things to do that are more local to your area. From theme parks and zoos to activities and even historical sites, there's no shortage of ideas on how to spend the six weeks holiday.
For more details and ideas, you can visit the Virgin Experience Days website.

French tourists issue desperate plea to find beloved dog missing on Conic Hill

A French couple are desperately hoping to find their beloved Cocker Spaniel that went missing near the summit of Conic Hill on Thursday. A French couple on holiday in Scotland have issued a desperate plea to try and trace their beloved pet dog which went missing on one of the country's most famous hillsides. ‌ They had been scaling Conic Hill, near Loch Lomond, on Thursday, July 17 with their beloved Cocker Spaniel. ‌ Owners Virginie Sibylle and Stéphane Tronche are now urgently looking to trace six-year-old Caramel. ‌ The pet pooch was last seen near the summit of the hill at around 4pm that day. The couple, from Angers, north western France, were enjoying a holiday in nearby Balmaha and will remain in the country until Saturday, July 26. ‌ Issuing an appeal to walkers in the area, they said: 'He's easily recognisable as he's missing hair on his back so you can see his black skin.' Caramel had been exploring the local area in the days prior to going missing, including a boat trip on the Steamship Sir Walter Scott across Loch Katrine. They're now urging any walkers in the Conic Hill area who think they may have spotted Caramel to get in touch. Anyone who thinks they've seen the dog are asked to contact the couple on WhatsApp on either 0033667102884 or 0033620464620.

Get a Legoland Resort visit for 3 people this school holiday for £50 less if you're fast

If you're looking for a way to keep the kids busy this school holiday without breaking the bank, we've spotted a great discount that lets you save £50 on a family trip to Legoland With the schools set to break up for the summer any day now, it's time to start planning how exactly you're going to spend the summer holidays. With six weeks off to fill, it can feel a little daunting trying to plan plenty of activities that'll keep your little ones engaged and busy without breaking the bank. However we've found a great way to not only plan out some fun activities this summer, but to also save yourself some money in the process. Currently Virgin Experience Days is running a major summer sale, and one fantastic offer lets you get a family trip to Legoland Windsor Resort with a huge £48 saving. The Legoland Windsor Resort Visit for Three is usually priced at £135, but for a limited time you can snap up the experience for £87, saving you almost £50 and knocking 36% off the price. The deal lets you take three people – whether that be two children and one adult, or two adults and one child – for a fun day out at the iconic theme park. Not only that, but children under 90cm will also be able to join you free of charge, which means you can bring along any younger kids without having to pay extra. Although Legoland is primarily designed for children aged 3 to 12, it also has attractions suitable for toddlers and pre-schoolers, with a dedicated DUPLO area and rides designed for younger children, not to mention plenty of opportunities for older kids and adults to have fun too. If you're looking for an activity that has more for a wider range of ages, Red Letter Days is currently offering Thorpe Park Resort Entry Tickets for Two which you can get for £70. You will have to be 120cm and above to take advantage of the pass, and you'll also get the opportunity to add extra guests to your pass during the booking process. You can also snap up several theme park passes at Visit Britain, including Legoland, Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures. However some of these passes are yet to be released, so you'll need to check back to keep an eye out for them. However Virgin Experience Days also offers several other theme park attraction deals, as well as other Legoland options for more people if you have a larger family. The Legoland Windsor Resort Visit for Three pass is a great way to save some money on a fun day out, with over 55 rides, live shows and attractions set over 150 acres of parkland. Shoppers have also praised the discounted pass, with one saying: 'I bought this Legoland experience for my family and it worked out cheaper than booking directly with Legoland. The booking process was seamless and the instructions were very clear - I would repurchase again!' Some warned: 'We were brought this for Xmas to take out little girl. We selected a day which they had the festival on as well and this was all included! Brilliant day out. The only bad side is you have to pay for car parking which isn't included in the voucher. It was £12 for the day which is a lot of your paying on top of a ticket.' Another said: 'Good fun but long queues.' Other shoppers were thrilled with the pass, saying: 'Very nice theme park, great for kids up to 11 years old I would say.'

Foreign Office warns against 'all but essential' travel to part of popular destination

Tourists are being told to stay away from certain areas over safety concerns. The Foreign Office has issued guidance advising against "all but essential" travel to a popular holiday spot. ‌ Tunisia is popular among British tourists for its beaches, history and affordability. It offers experiences including beach resorts such as Hammamet and Sousse, and the opportunity to explore ancient Roman ruins and vibrant medinas. ‌ However, as of Wednesday, July 16, the official travel advice has been changed over serious safety concerns, listing no-go areas visitors should steer clear of, WalesOnline reports. ‌ The Foreign Office said: 'FCDO now advises against all but essential travel to within 20km of the Tunisia-Algerian border in El Kef and Jendouba Governorates, south of the town of Jendouba. FCDO no longer advises against travel to the archaeological site of Chemtou.' Safety fears continue to affect tourism in the country. In 2023, several terrorist attacks were planned and carried out by self-initiated individuals, potentially influenced by organisations. A National Guard officer was stabbed in the capital city Tunis, and a police officer died after being stabbed outside an embassy building. On the island of Djerba, a gunman opened fire at a Jewish pilgrimage site, killing three security staff and two civilians and injuring 10 people. ‌ The Foreign Office added: 'There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals, including from groups and individuals who view the UK and British nationals as targets. Stay aware of your surroundings at all times.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today.
