Back in 2019, former Bond star Roger Moore's son Geoffrey backed Taron for the part.
However, the Welsh actor said in a recent interview that he "wouldn't be good at" playing Bond.
Speaking to Collider, Taron shared: "I don't think I'm a good choice for it, I think I'm too messy for that.
"I really love James Bond and particularly Daniel Craig 's tenure, but I think I wouldn't be good at it.
"I think there's so many cool, younger actors who would be great for it.
"I think it would be wasted on me, probably."
Taron has already tried his hand at playing a secret agent, starring in the Kingsman film franchise opposite Colin Firth.
The first film follows his character, Gary "Eggsy" Unwin, being recruited into a secret spy organisation.
Taron won a Golden Globe for portraying Elton John in 2019 musical drama Rocketman.
More recently, he played the lead role in Apple TV+ drama series Smoke.
Massive American film star becomes favourite to be next Bond girl as she is pals with new 007 director
Daniel Craig, 57, starred as 007 in five James Bond films - making his final appearance in 2021's No Time To Die.
His other instalments include Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).
Earlier this year, he reflected on the experience while appearing on on Italian chat show Che Tempo Che Fa.
The actor said: "I still can't believe it, it was an honour.
"But I can't take a step forward, get out of it, because it was an important part of my life."
Aside from Taron, other names in the running reportedly include Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Tom Holland.
While there is still speculation that Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 35, or Henry Cavill, 42, are also in the running - but with them both being over 30, it may rule them out.

Holly Willoughby wows in a white swimsuit as she lives it up on the beach during sun-soaked Portuguese holiday with sister Kelly

took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a carefree swimsuit-clad snap with her followers as she continues to enjoy her sun-soaked holiday in Portugal. The former This Morning host, 44, looked sensational in a white one-piece as she relaxed on a boat, making the most of a well-deserved break. Her chic swimsuit featured a plunging neckline and hugged her figure perfectly, showing off her enviable physique. The presenter posed up a storm for the camera, accessorising her beachy look with oversized brown sunglasses while letting her wavy blonde locks blow freely in the breeze. She captioned the sun-drenched snap with a series of summery emojis, including a wave, sun and beach umbrella. It comes after Holly and her lookalike sister Kelly gave an insight into their holiday on Tuesday as they smiled against the sunset. The TV presenter, who owns a plush villa in the Algarve, looked stunning in a patterned one-shouldered dress. Completing her summery look, she styled her hair into beachy waves and opted for minimal makeup. Kelly wore a plunging white linen dress, which was cinched in at the waist with a wrap-around belt. The siblings shared a selfie from a balcony and captioned the update: 'Always better together.' Holly frequently spends her summer at her £2 million holiday home at a luxury resort on the Algarve. Holly's summer break comes after she faced a string of blows on her presenting gigs. Her Netflix show Celebrity Bear Hunt was axed after just one series following claims that it was too expensive to produce. It came months after her other mainstream programme, Dancing On Ice, was axed in March, while she also decided to step down from presenting duties on You Bet! Having been the darling of TV for several years, Holly is still in huge demand with a plethora of options open to her as she navigates this tricky stage in her career. According to The Sun, one option could be the reboot of the classic series Record Breakers, which her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin, 50, is currently working on. A source told the production that Holly would be the 'perfect fit' for the show, which at present is in its early stages and currently does not have a channel attached. They explained: 'Record Breakers is likely to be a prime-time hit, and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins. She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly.' Meanwhile, Holly has also been linked to the revival of Cilla Black's Blind Date, alongside the likes of Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall. Originally, rumours suggested the ITV hit would make a comeback on the BBC, but now sources claim the love-match show will reboot on Disney+. In March, Holly was tipped to become the next Cilla, with the presenter lining up a string of big-money deals worth up to £10million. The revival was previously being considered by Holly's husband, Dan Baldwin, and the star had previously stepped into Cilla's shoes when she hosted a reboot of Surprise Surprise. An insider told The Sun at the time: 'There might not sound like obvious parallels between Holly and Cilla, but they're both two of the biggest stars of modern telly. 'Emulating Cilla isn't just about taking on her shows, it's as much about carving out a niche as a solo presenter with serious clout in the world of telly. 'But together with her husband Dan, they form the ultimate power couple in TV. She has the public appeal that gets viewers tuning in, while he has a track record of making hugely successful TV shows.' The Daily Mail contacted Holly's representatives for comment at the time. She has long been a familiar face on both ITV and ITV2, hosting shows including Surprise Surprise, Celebrity Juice, The Games, The Xtra Factor, and I'm A Celebrity. Holly is arguably best known for having fronted This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield from 2009 until 2023, while she also helmed Dancing On Ice from 2006.

Britain's Royal Mail celebrates Monty Python with stamps featuring iconic sketches and characters

And now for something completely different: Britain's Royal Mail has issued stamps celebrating the absurdist comedy of Monty Python. The 10-stamp series announced on Thursday celebrates some of the troupe's most iconic characters and catchphrases, from 'Nudge, nudge' to 'The Lumberjack Song.' Six stamps depict scenes from the sketch-comedy TV series 'Monty Python's Flying Circus,' including 'The Spanish Inquisition,' 'The Ministry of Silly Walks," 'Dead Parrot' and 'The Nude Organist.' Another four mark the 50th anniversary of the cult classic 1975 film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail,' including one showing the limb-losing Black Knight insisting, ''Tis but a scratch.' The stamps can be pre-ordered from Thursday and go on sale Aug. 14. Made up of Michael Palin, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Graham Chapman, Monty Python brought a unique blend of satire, surrealism and silliness to British TV screens in a series that ran from 1969 to 1974. The troupe also made several feature films, including 'And Now for Something Completely Different,' 'Monty Python's Life of Brian' and 'Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.' David Gold, Royal Mail's director of external affairs, said the collection 'honors a body of work that has shaped the comedic landscape for nearly six decades.' Palin said he was 'very glad to share a stamp with the nude organist!' The group largely disbanded in the 1980s, and Chapman died of cancer in 1989. The five surviving Pythons reunited in 2014 for a string of live stage shows. Jones died in 2020 from a rare form of dementia.

Tis but a stamp: Royal Mail set celebrates Monty Python favourite scenes

A set of 10 stamps from Royal Mail will pay tribute to 'one of Britain's most influential and enduring comedy troupes' – Monty Python. The main collection of six stamps celebrates characters from Monty Python's Flying Circus, the BBC TV series which ran from 1969 to 1974 with sketches so popular, generations of fans can still recite all the lines. The stamps showcase highlights including the Spanish Inquisition, the Ministry Of Silly Walks, the Lumberjack Song, the Dead Parrot Sketch, Nudge Nudge, and Spam. Formed in 1969, Monty Python was one of the UK's best-known comedy troupes, made up of comics Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Sir Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. Presented in a miniature sheet, and in honour of 50 years of the cult 1975 film, Monty Python And The Holy Grail, a further four stamps celebrate the film. Scenes featured on the stamps include The Black Knight's defiant ''Tis but a scratch!', King Arthur and his knights receiving their divine quest, and Sir Robin's encounter with the Three-Headed Giant: 'You're lucky, you're not next to him!' Sir Michael said, with a reference to a character from Monty Python's Flying Circus: 'Very glad to share a stamp with the nude organist!'. David Gold, Royal Mail's director of external affairs and policy, said: 'Monty Python has left an indelible mark on global comedy, all while remaining unmistakably British at its core. 'From their groundbreaking television debut to a string of iconic films, this stamp collection honours a body of work that has shaped the comedic landscape for nearly six decades.' The group followed their TV work by making a series of films including 1979's Life Of Brian, the story of a man who was mistaken for Jesus; and 1983's The Meaning Of Life. Idle, 82, created the medieval musical Spamalot, which earned a Tony award for best musical after its Broadway run. Chapman died of tonsil cancer in 1989 aged 48, while Jones died from a rare form of dementia in 2020, aged 77. The stamps, and a range of collectible products, are available to pre-order from August 7 and go on general sale from August 14.
