Firefighters extricate person from vehicle after 3-vehicle crash on Carling Ave.
Firefighters extricated a person who was trapped inside their vehicle after a crash in Ottawa's west end Sunday afternoon.
A news release from Ottawa Fire Services says crews received a call from police reporting a crash in the 3000 block of Carling Avenue at approximately 4:44 p.m.
On arrival, fire crews found three cars were involved with one person requiring extrication.
Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and used specialized tools to safety remove the trapped occupant in approximately five minutes.
The occupant's injuries remain unclear.
Ottawa police have closed Carling Avenue between Moodie Drive and Ullswater Drive as an investigation continues.
The public is asked to avoid the area.

Nanaimo RCMP provided these images of a man alleged to have punched and kicked a dog. Mounties in Nanaimo say they arrested a man who reportedly kicked and punched his German Shepherd last month. Police initially asked for help identifying the suspect after a witness took photos of and reported the incident in the 200 block of Selby Road on July 27. 'The witness called out to the man, telling him to stop, and the man came towards the witness aggressively, demanding to see their phone. The witness told the man they weren't recording the interaction, which helped de-escalate the situation,' the Nanaimo RCMP said at the time. Following the appeal, the detachment says it received over 20 calls from the public with information about the man and the dog. On Aug. 7, police arrested the 36-year-old suspect in the 100 block of Milton Street. The dog was seized, and an animal cruelty investigation was launched.

(CTV NEWS/ Rob Cooper) It's been nearly two weeks since an extraordinary police investigation turned heads in the City of Barrie, and residents are still searching for answers. What began in a quiet wooded area between Victoria Street, John Street, and Anne Street South on July 31., has unfolded into a complex tight-lipped operation involving police who will still not say what they were looking for or what brought them to the site. Now city officials, and environmental crews are taking the lead. On Saturday, the site was returned to the City of Barrie only to be sealed off again as the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) issued an order under the Environmental Protection Act. Officials reported that the amount of waste in the now fenced-off encampment site poses serious health and safety risks. The environmental concerns stem from the types of waste identified on-site, which include steel drums, batteries, paint, construction debris and residential waste. The action is necessary to mitigate the potential public and environmental risks to the Anne Street Wellhead, Dyment Creek and Lake Simcoe. The wooded area is currently on the path to restoration. According to the Busby Centre, around 40 people had been living in the encampment before it was vacated. On Monday, former residents were given time to re-enter the area and gather their belongings. A temporary evacuation site is being set up at 29 Sperling Drive for people impacted. On Sat., Aug. 2, Barrie police arrested, 'primary suspect,' Robert Ladouceur, 52, who had been considered armed and dangerous. Robert Ladouceur Robert Ladouceur, 52, who also goes by 'Tattoo Rob.' He faces 19 criminal charges, including multiple weapons offenses related to a handgun and fleeing from police. Ladouceur appeared virtually in court from a holding room at the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene seeking bail. It is unclear if his arrest and charges are directly linked to the ongoing investigation. The allegations against him have not been tested in court. Police have linked another location to this operation. The Cardwell Lake Road area in Huntsville remains under investigation. It is unclear how this northern region connects to the wooded area west of Anne Street.

Northern Ont. woman faces multiple charges after business robbed

The North Bay Police Service announced the arrest in a news release Monday, detailing multiple charges against the local woman, including robbery, assault, uttering threats, obstructing police and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The incident The alleged incident occurred on Aug. 8, when the accused entered a business and attempted to steal merchandise. Police say she assaulted an employee who confronted her before leaving the premises. 'As she left the premises, she approached a second victim, uttered threats before fleeing the scene,' the police said in the release. Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby, but she initially provided a false identity. Outstanding warrants discovered Following further investigation, police confirmed the woman's true identity and executed three outstanding arrest warrants against her. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. A public reminder to report suspicious activity Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any criminal activity.
