IDL Explosives, established in 2010, operates exclusively within India. Its primary business has focused on bulk explosives, and the acquisition enables Apollo to extend its reach into critical defence components while leveraging existing industrial demand.
Strategic Vision and Indigenous Push
In a statement, Apollo highlighted that this acquisition is a key step towards becoming a Tier-I Original Equipment Manufacturer (
OEM
) for weapon systems. It strengthens Apollo's ability to offer integrated defence solutions—combining design, electronics, platforms, and now, explosives.
'This acquisition is aimed at augmenting the Company's manufacturing capabilities in the area of
Defence Explosives
, supporting the growing indigenous demand across artillery, missile, and other high-impact defence domains,' the company said in its regulatory filing.
B Karunakar Reddy
, Managing Director of Apollo Micro Systems, described the deal as a landmark moment for the group's defence ambitions.
'Apollo Group is proud to announce a significant enhancement to its portfolio through a landmark alignment with India's first explosive company – a pioneering, Indian-owned enterprise with a distinguished legacy of over 64 years. This esteemed organisation, a proud member of the globally renowned
Hinduja
Group, brings unparalleled expertise and heritage to the partnership. The strategic move underscores Apollo's unwavering commitment to advancing indigenous capabilities in the defence and explosives sectors. Together we are poised to unleash the next chapter in the Spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, serving our great nation with innovation, strength & pride.'
Apollo Micro Systems
has gradually expanded its presence in India's defence and aerospace ecosystem. Known primarily for its electronic systems used in weapon platforms, the group has been steadily moving upstream—towards becoming a full-stack weapons systems supplier.
The IDL acquisition marks a shift into physical and high-impact defence components. By consolidating electronics with explosive systems, Apollo is betting on India's push for self-reliance in defence production—one that has gained momentum under recent policy shifts.

India should open way for developing nations: WTO

PARIS: While acknowledging unprecedented disruption of multilateral trading system, WTO chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on Tuesday raised the issue of China-backed investment facilitation. While India is opposing this, Okonjo-Iweala wants New Delhi to support the move. "We spoke about issues of reform, about issues that India is interested in, like agriculture and how India needs to be a leader for MC 14 (next year's ministerial meeting)... India needs to open the way for other developing countries, for example, on investment facilitation for development, we want it to support, because so many developing countries, 90 out of the 126, who are members, would like to move with this. But for agriculture, we also need to listen to what India's issues are and try to be as supportive as possible," she said after a meeting with commerce & industry minister Piyush Goyal. India had virtually single-handedly blocked attempts to include investment facilitation as a plurilateral matter under the WTO framework. The comments came ahead of the mini-ministerial meeting of trade ministers later Tuesday. WTO chief said the issue of reform is expected to come up for discussion, at a time when multilateral trading system has been "disrupted in a way it hasn't been before". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Durable Perforated Stainless Steel Sheets Online – Trusted Suppliers Stainless Steel Sheets | Search ADS Search Now Undo "Sometimes I see challenges as opportunities, and I think this is a very good opportunity for WTO members to look at what are those things that work and should be kept and there are many. For example, three quarters of world goods trade is still taking place on WTO terms, on MFN terms and members want to safeguard that," she said. She said that each member will put their ideas on the table, paving the way for discussions at the next year's ministerial meeting. Piyush Goyal pushes for bigger India-France trade game

PARIS: India can help French businesses become more competitive in manufacturing and tap global markets, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday, stressing that it could be a shared mission where France and India collaborate closely to strengthen bilateral economic ties. He asked businesses to identify areas of trade where the two sides can help each other in crossing the Rubicon of regulation. "Indian businesses are foxed navigating between the EU regulations and individual regulations in member countries," Goyal said while addressing businesses of India and France. The minister said that the level of trade and investments between the two countries needs to be enhanced, as the current figures does not reflect their true potential. "We've already got a lot of exchange between the two countries on banking and insurance. We could look at seeing how that could be taken to the next level," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo India-France bilateral goods trade in 2024-25 totalled $15.3 billion. India and the EU are working to accept each other's sensitivities and come out with a fair, equitable and balanced free trade agreement which respects the domestic situation on both sides. Goyal said the aim is also to remove some of the roadblocks, reduce the compliance burden on both sides, make it easier to engage and expand businesses, and have a rapid response mechanism that works to create mutual recognition agreements.

PM Modi not making it to G7 Summit a diplomatic bungle: Opposition

Congress on Tuesday alleged "a big diplomatic bungle" behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi not making it to the G7 Summit in Canada. Pointing out that Modi and his predecessor Manmohan Singh have been attending the G7 summits during their respective tenures in office until now, Congress communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh said, "But now, for the first time in six years, Vishwaguru will not be in attendance at the Canada summit. Whatever spin may be given, the fact remains that this is yet another big diplomatic bungle - after the blunder of allowing the US to overturn decades of Indian foreign policy by mediating between India and Pakistan and allowing American authorities to call for continued talks at a 'neutral site'." Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said not getting an invite to G7 was an insult to India and demanded an explanation from the external affairs minister. "You should ask the prime minister and his supporters to give an answer. We felt bad and considered this an insult to India that our country has not been invited. (EAM) Jaishankar ji should give an answer," Raut said at a presser here. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Promoções imperdíveis de voos baratos Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo
