Mom falls to her death in front of three of her kids while hiking

Metro25-04-2025

A mother-of-four who was hiking with three of her children fell 50 to 75 feet to her death in front of them.
Carolyn Sanger, 49, was on a hike with family members at Purgatory Chasm State Reservation in Massachusetts when she dropped suddenly on Wednesday around 2pm.
'There were multiple medial professionals in the area hiking the Chasm at the same time, and were able to provide medical attention right away,' stated the Sutton Police Department on Facebook.
Sanger died of her injuries shortly after the fall.
'For those that knew Carrie, know that she was a bright light; a wonderful, selfless mother who has raised four incredible, respectful, responsible kids,' stated a GoFundMe page for the Sanger family.
'She was a friend to all and her smile and kind spirit will be greatly missed. She passed too early- but she left the earth doing what she loved, with the ones she loved.' More Trending
Police said the fall 'does appear to be accidental' but that it is under investigation.
'The Sutton Police Department would like to extend our condolences to the family during this very difficult time,' the agency stated.
Sanger had just moved on from working as an oncology nurse to 'pursue her passion for wellness', according to the fundraiser.
The GoFundMe page had received more than $120,000 in donations as of Friday evening.

Plastic surgeon who stabbed rival doctor and tried to burn down his home jailed

A plastic surgeon who broke into a fellow doctor's home and stabbed him in the middle of the night has been jailed for life. Jonathan Peter Brooks, 61, poured petrol over the floor before attacking his colleague Graeme Perks in January 2021. The burns specialist was desperate to get Perks 'out of the way' because the fellow plastic surgeon had been a witness in disciplinary hearings against him. Brooks was sentenced at Loughborough Courthouse today to life in prison, with a minimum term of 22 years, after being found guilty of attempted murder in April. Judge Justice Pepperall said the plastic surgeon, who was absent during the trial on hunger strike, had been on a 'murderous expedition' to commit 'appalling crimes'. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Brooks's victim was woken up by a loud bang during the break in at his £1m home in Halam, Nottinghamshire and ran downstairs naked to confront the intruder. Perks told police in a video interview he thought he was talking to his son when he was confronted by Brooks, who had concealed his identity. Perks, who was recently retired at the time, added: 'Nothing was said, and the next thing I remember was feeling a blow to my body. 'I put my hands to the area where I felt it and it was warm and sticky, and I thought I felt something poking out from my abdomen and I decided that I must have been stabbed and that I needed to get back to the house.' A surgeon, who treated the retired doctor, said Perks had a 95% chance of dying when he arrived at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment. Brooks, 61, had cycled to Perks' home armed with a crowbar, cans of petrol, matches and a knife – all while dressed in camouflage. Prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC said: 'His intention was, say the Crown, to break into Mr Perks's house, set fire to it and if necessary, stab Mr Perks. 'In short, he intended to kill Mr Perks by either or both those means.' The plastic surgeon was found guilty on April 7 of two counts of attempted murder, attempted arson with intent to endanger life and possession of a knife. More Trending He had denied all those charges. It was revealed after the jury's verdict that Brooks went on hunger strike and failed to attend proceedings at Leicester Crown Court. He was not present during sentencing today because he felt too unwell to make the journey to court. Judge Justice Pepperall previously said Brooks had 'used hunger strikes or the threat of some other self-harm to achieve some advantage' on 'no fewer than eight occasions' since 2021. Heartbreaking tributes paid to 'beautiful soul' after teenager stabbed to death

Ibrahima Seck, 14, was rushed to hospital but tragically died from his injuries on Sunday evening. Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to a "beautiful soul" who was stabbed to death outside a pub. Ibrahima Seck, 14, was rushed to hospital but tragically died from his injuries on Sunday evening. He was stabbed outside the Fairway Inn in New Moston, north Manchester, before running to nearby Nevin Road, where neighbours rushed to his aid. ‌ As reported by the Manchester Evening News, police closed off the scene and remained in attendance outside the pub on Monday. A property on nearby Warbeck Road has also been sealed off. ‌ A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Ibrahima's family by Dawn Frimpong. She wrote: "I had the honour of working with this young man, in a school, where he was very well loved. "He was a beautiful soul who had the most infectious smile and you couldn't help but laugh with him. He will be missed by so many. I am attempting to raise as much money as possible for Ibrahima's family so they are not worrying about financial burden at this very difficult time. "We must stand together as communities in times like this and offer support no matter how big or small. Any contribution would be very greatly received." Miss Whittaker told the M.E.N. she taught Ibrahima at Manchester Community Primary Academy for two years. "Ibrahima was the most beautiful boy," she said. "He touched my soul and he had such a beautiful heart. I'm devastated beyond words." A neighbour of Ibrahima's, who did not want to be named, told our sister title that he was the youngest of three siblings. She said: 'He was so young, it's so very, very sad. I cannot understand what this country is coming to.' ‌ The woman said the family had lived on her street, a short distance from the Fairway Inn, for a 'couple of years' and she spoke to Ibrahima's parents as neighbours. 'I heard about it last night' she added. 'I heard the helicopter last night then I read about it on the news. Then a police car pulled up and they went inside. That's when we knew. "Another neighbour who knows the family very well said it was the youngest one. I felt sick. So very, very sick. I just couldn't believe that had happened to a family like that. It's so sad, bless them. There's not much we can, just offer our condolences and be there if they need anything.' ‌ Tributes have also been left at the scene where Ibrahima was attacked, alongside flowers and messages of support for his family. One note said: "From one mother to another, I know there are no words that can ever ease your pain. "But I pray God gives you the strength to face each new day. Please know that as a community we hold your family in our hearts." Another said: "Things need to change! Knives down, gloves up! Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this horrific time. There are good people in this city! We pray for your son." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. We are deploying significant resources to this murder investigation, and this led to quickly identifying potential suspects. ‌ "We are still trying to establish the full circumstances around the incident – there will be a large police presence and several scenes in place while we continue to investigate this horrific incident. The boy's family are being supported by our officers and we are determined to give them the answers they deserve. "Despite making several arrests, this is still a live investigation, and we are looking for information, doorbell or dashcam footage, or eye-witness accounts from anyone who was in the area at the time quoting log 2250 of 8/6/25. Urgent search to reunite girl with epilepsy with missing therapy dog

An urgent search has been launched to reunite a young girl with epilepsy with her missing therapy dog in the Highlands. Louie, adopted as a therapy dog for his owner Louise Manson's daughter, who lives with epilepsy, ran off after slipping his lead near Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on May 26. Louise has since led an 'emotional and tireless' campaign to find her pet, supported by a Facebook group with over 1,200 members. The search has been backed by volunteers combating vast, rugged terrain after Louise appealed to the public in the hope that someone picked Louie up thinking he was lost or abandoned Fort William resident Iona Macdonald has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the search for the Golden Retriever. The raised funds hope to bring in professional support, including drone search teams and tracking dogs, to continue the effort. So far, £2,690 has been raised, smashing its original £2,000 goal. Louise has expressed overwhelming gratitude for the public's help so far, saying their home 'isn't home without him.' The fundraiser reads: 'A good friend was up Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on Monday May 26 in the evening and her family dog Louie slipped his lead and ran away. Despite numerous hours spent searching by everyone and strangers who have kindly joined in searching Louie has still not been found. 'As many will know the area Louie has run of is very big open spaces with lots of rough terrain and the searches so far have not been successful. 'Organised searches will be sorted soon on the Facebook page. 'Louie is a Golden Retriever and is a lovable, friendly dog, now all the searches have so far not shown anything we now think we could try and raise some funds to help Louise towards paying for specialists to come up with thermal drones. 'Anyone who has a dog will know they are not just an animal, they are part of your family. I cannot imagine how Louise, Charlie ,and the girls are coping.'
