Mom falls to her death in front of three of her kids while hiking

Metro25-04-2025

A mother-of-four who was hiking with three of her children fell 50 to 75 feet to her death in front of them.
Carolyn Sanger, 49, was on a hike with family members at Purgatory Chasm State Reservation in Massachusetts when she dropped suddenly on Wednesday around 2pm.
'There were multiple medial professionals in the area hiking the Chasm at the same time, and were able to provide medical attention right away,' stated the Sutton Police Department on Facebook.
Sanger died of her injuries shortly after the fall.
'For those that knew Carrie, know that she was a bright light; a wonderful, selfless mother who has raised four incredible, respectful, responsible kids,' stated a GoFundMe page for the Sanger family.
'She was a friend to all and her smile and kind spirit will be greatly missed. She passed too early- but she left the earth doing what she loved, with the ones she loved.' More Trending
Police said the fall 'does appear to be accidental' but that it is under investigation.
'The Sutton Police Department would like to extend our condolences to the family during this very difficult time,' the agency stated.
Sanger had just moved on from working as an oncology nurse to 'pursue her passion for wellness', according to the fundraiser.
The GoFundMe page had received more than $120,000 in donations as of Friday evening.

Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) rapper Silentó sentenced to 30 years for killing cousin

Rapper Silentó has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his cousin, four years ago. In 2021, the musician best known for his viral song Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) was arrested on charges relating to the death of Frederick Rooks. Rooks, 34, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on January 21 and died from his injuries. Silentó, real name Ricky Lamar Hawk, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to the charges and took a plea deal to reduce the charges, as reported by Variety. He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and concealing the death of another. Another felony murder charge was dropped as part of this plea agreement. Hawk, 27, will serve 30 years in prison but will get credit for time served, having been behind bars since February 2021. At the time of his arrest, his publicist, Chanel Hudson, posted on social media about his mental health issues. She wrote: 'Over the past several years, Ricky has been suffering immensely from a series of mental illnesses. We will continue in his efforts of treatment, but we ask in the meantime the public uplift him and his family in immediate prayer & positive energy!!' He had previously been arrested in 2020 after allegedly wielding a hatchet while searching for his girlfriend. According to police reports of the incident, he had walked into a random house demanding to see his girlfriend until a friend arrived and informed him it was the wrong home. Another alleged incident in late 2020 saw the rapper pulled over on his way from a nightclub when he was spotted driving at 143mph in a 65mph zone. He was reportedly swerving in and out of cars and said he was 'not a regular person' and claimed people were following him. Hawk rose to fame in 2015 with debut single Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), which was released while he was still in high school. The song and its accompanying dance became one of the biggest trends of the year, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100. More Trending Despite some critics blasting the track as irritating, Watch Me earned him a nomination for Song of the Summer at the MTV Video Music Awards. The track was also nominated for R&B/Hip-Hop Song at the Teen Choice Awards the same year, although it did not win either award. Hawk has not seen the heights of fame since, with Hudson claiming he had struggled to cope and attempted suicide in the years after his hit. He confessed to the killing shortly after Rooks' body was found and authorities matched bullet casings to the gun he had in his possession during the arrest. Got a story? Ashton Jones is fighting for his life in Thailand

Ashton Jones, 29, went on a last minute trip to Bangkok but was separated from his friends on a night out. His family have no idea what happened before he was found in a hospital having emergency brain surgery - and is now fighting for his life nearly 6,000 miles away from home. And to make it worse, Ashton didn't take out holiday insurance before jetting off 6,000 miles to Bangkok. She said that Ashton had travelled to Thailand with his lifelong friend on May 30, and on arrival met up with another friend. But five days into his trip, the family received the worst news that he had gone missing after a night out partying. His friends spent hours searching for Ashton after he went missing from the nightclub they were in. He was found in hospital in Thailand and medics believe Ashton, who suffers from epilepsy, was violently attacked. "The emotional toll on our family is immense. We are heartbroken and fearful, watching from afar while Ashton suffers without the care he urgently requires." Beverley said on Monday, nearly a week after Ashton went into hospital on June 3, workers at Chonburi Hospital tried to wake him up. She added: "It was a success but he still has a long way to go, he's bed-bound and suffering with fits, cannot talk, eat or drink and isn't aware. "We all as a family are worried sick with fear for Ashton and how we can bring him home." But Ashton's treatment and funding to bring him to the UK will cost the family thousands - which is way more than they can afford to pay. The family have set up a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise £50,000 to help cover medical expenses and to bring him home. So far, over £3,000 has been raised by 113 donors since the fundraiser was launched a day ago. Beverley said: "The hospital in Thailand is asking for the cost of his treatment on going that is far beyond what our family can afford. "In the meantime, Ashton's condition continues to deteriorate, and it feels as though we are being left helpless as time runs out. "We have already put together life savings for medical bills, flights, travel, accommodation to be with him but would never be able to afford to get him home to better health care and his family." "We all as a family are worried sick with fear for Ashton and how we can bring him home. "So please, any donations made towards getting Ashton home is apprenticed beyond words can describe. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you." You can donate to the fundraiser here. A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are supporting a British man who has been hospitalised in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities."
