A sleepover ended in tragedy when a 12-year-old girl fell to her death after arguing with a friend about a slice of pizza.
Arya Lebeau had been staying with her friends at a flat in Southbridge, about 60 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts (MA), when an argument erupted between her and a pal over the pizza slice on Saturday morning. The Southbridge Police Department (SPD) and the Worchester County District Attorney's Office launched an investigation into the circumstances around what they called an "unattended death." The Chief Medical Examiner is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Dimas Cabrera, who claimed she was Arya's grandmother, shared more details about the moments leading up to the girl's death. She claimed an argument over a slice of pizza led to an argument and that she was kicked out of a window at some point.
Charlene Cabrera, Arya's mother, told NBC News: "I dropped her off for her sleepover, and I just feel like I'm waiting for her to come home. She was so hopeful for the future, and this summer she was really looking forward to many activities with her friends."
Arya was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the best efforts of doctors at the scene, she died as a result of her injuries early on Saturday morning.
"Initial reports suggest that the juvenile fell from a third-story window on Friday evening and was later pronounced dead at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester," the SPD said in a statement shared to Facebook on Tuesday. "The Office of the Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner has accepted the case and an autopsy is pending.
Arya's family has been left devastated following her death. Police have since opened an investigation to the circumstances around the young girl's shocking death.
"The matter remains under investigation by Detectives with the Southbridge Police Department and Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office. No further information will be released at this time."
A GoFundMe campaign, which can be seen here, was launched following Arya's death, with funds going toward the family. Family members said funds would go toward giving Arya a proper send off.
Charlene Cabrera, Arya's mother said in the GoFundMe page: "I cannot express the amount of grief I feel at the loss of my only baby. I have no words, but would like to thank every single person, parent and child for reaching out and for your loving support."
As of Wednesday evening, the campaign has raised an estimated $16,240 (£12,049) out of a $20,000 (£14,839) target. Family members also shared numerous photos of Arya in the campaign.

Greg Monks was reported missing after leaving the main strip in Albufeira in the Algarve region during the early hours of May 28. We previously reported that a GoFundMe page was initially launched to support the search but had instead been updated to help the family bring Greg home and to plan his funeral. It has so far raised £34,000. Ms Monks highlighted that the family now 'has some sense of closure' as they plan to bring her beloved brother home this weekend. 'We still can't believe this has happened, but we're glad we now have some sense of closure. I don't know if any of us could have coped with even another day searching for my brother. 'I think it just shows in places like Albufeira, everyone needs to stick together and look after each other. 'His pals are absolutely devastated at what happened. Before everyone left the hotel that night, Greg made sure they all had a business card and a map from the hotel to help them find their way home. 'That's the kind of person he was.' Ms Monks further shared her family's anger over how they discovered Greg had died. She commented: 'I knew Greg had been found before my mum and dad were told officially by police in Portugal. 'They were waiting in a police station to meet with officers when their phones went off with notifications to say Greg had been found. 'It is shocking that this was allowed to happen.'

He was stabbed outside the Fairway Inn in New Moston, north Manchester, before running to nearby Nevin Road, where neighbours rushed to his aid. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, police closed off the scene and remained in attendance outside the pub on Monday. A property on nearby Warbeck Road has also been sealed off. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Ibrahima's family by Dawn Frimpong. She wrote: "I had the honour of working with this young man, in a school, where he was very well loved. "He was a beautiful soul who had the most infectious smile and you couldn't help but laugh with him. He will be missed by so many. I am attempting to raise as much money as possible for Ibrahima's family so they are not worrying about financial burden at this very difficult time. "We must stand together as communities in times like this and offer support no matter how big or small. Any contribution would be very greatly received." Miss Whittaker told the M.E.N. she taught Ibrahima at Manchester Community Primary Academy for two years. "Ibrahima was the most beautiful boy," she said. "He touched my soul and he had such a beautiful heart. I'm devastated beyond words." A neighbour of Ibrahima's, who did not want to be named, told our sister title that he was the youngest of three siblings. She said: 'He was so young, it's so very, very sad. I cannot understand what this country is coming to.' Urgent search to reunite girl with epilepsy with missing therapy dog
An urgent search has been launched to reunite a young girl with epilepsy with her missing therapy dog in the Highlands. Louie, adopted as a therapy dog for his owner Louise Manson's daughter, who lives with epilepsy, ran off after slipping his lead near Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on May 26. Louise has since led an 'emotional and tireless' campaign to find her pet, supported by a Facebook group with over 1,200 members. The search has been backed by volunteers combating vast, rugged terrain after Louise appealed to the public in the hope that someone picked Louie up thinking he was lost or abandoned Fort William resident Iona Macdonald has since launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the search for the Golden Retriever. The raised funds hope to bring in professional support, including drone search teams and tracking dogs, to continue the effort. So far, £2,690 has been raised, smashing its original £2,000 goal. Louise has expressed overwhelming gratitude for the public's help so far, saying their home 'isn't home without him.' The fundraiser reads: 'A good friend was up Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on Monday May 26 in the evening and her family dog Louie slipped his lead and ran away. Despite numerous hours spent searching by everyone and strangers who have kindly joined in searching Louie has still not been found. 'As many will know the area Louie has run of is very big open spaces with lots of rough terrain and the searches so far have not been successful. 'Organised searches will be sorted soon on the Facebook page. 'Louie is a Golden Retriever and is a lovable, friendly dog, now all the searches have so far not shown anything we now think we could try and raise some funds to help Louise towards paying for specialists to come up with thermal drones. 'Anyone who has a dog will know they are not just an animal, they are part of your family. I cannot imagine how Louise, Charlie ,and the girls are coping.'
