
Surrey RCMP cruiser struck by SUV while officer responding to call
Surrey, B.C., police said an RCMP Surrey provincial operations support unit (SPOSU) officer was responding to an emergency call when an SUV struck them at 8:22 p.m. in the intersection of 176 Street and 64 Avenue.

Two adults and a small child were in the SUV and they were also taken to the hospital.
SPOSU's major crime MVI unit took over the investigation and the integrated collision analysis and reconstruction service (ICARS) was called in to assist. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, police said.

Float plane tips upside down in Winnipeg River

When officers got to the scene they were informed the pilot, who was the only one in the plane, landed safely. However, the right float went underwater while he was taxiing to shore. The pilot, a 27-year-old man from Snow Lake, was able to escape before the float plane tipped upside down. In a statement, the Transportation Safety Board said it has not yet sent investigators to the scene but is continuing to gather evidence. It said the incident will be classified as a Class 5 occurrence, meaning it is not subject to comprehensive investigation followed by a report. The investigation continues.

84-year-old N.B. man charged in drug trafficking investigation

The New Brunswick RCMP Northeast Crime Reduction Unit (NB CCRU), along with members of the Caraquet, Tracadie and Lamèque Detachments, RCMP Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services executed a search warrant at a Shippagan residence and in a vehicle on Friday. During the search, the RCMP says officers seized: quantity of what they believed to be cocaine crystal methamphetamine money an electronic scale drug paraphernalia Some of the drugs found were packaged in multiple small bags. Emilien Goupil, 84, was arrested at the scene. He appeared in a Bathurst provincial court Monday and was charged with: trafficking crystal methamphetamine possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal methamphetamine trafficking cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine possession of Canadian currency of a value exceeding $5,000 knowing that all or part of the property was obtained by the commission of an offence He was remanded into custody pending a future court appearance. RCMP searching for suspect who escaped police vehicle
Roberto Easter is pictured in this undated photo. (RCMP) The Manitoba RCMP is searching for a suspect who escaped from a police vehicle. The incident began around 3:30 p.m. on Monday when Mounties arrested Roberto Easter at a home on Airport Road in Chemawawin Cree Nation for breaching the conditions of a release order. Officers said they put him in handcuffs and placed him in the back of a police car. Police allege before they could bring him to the detachment, a 28-year-old woman approached the car and helped Easter to escape. Police note the woman and suspect are known to each other. Easter, 30, was last seen fleeing into a dense brush. RCMP is now searching for the escapee. The 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with escape lawful custody, resist/obstruct police officer and uttering threats. The charges against the woman and Easter have not been tested in court. Police said there is no threat to public safety. Anyone with information on Easter's location is asked to call police at 204-329-2004 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
