Bastille frontman Dan Smith reveals truth about band's rumoured secret Glastonbury 2025 set
BASTILLE have performed at Glastonbury every three years since 2013 – which means the Pompeii singers were likely for a return this weekend.
But after appearing in 2016, 2019 and 2022, I'm afraid I am going to dash the hopes of fans who have been speculating Dan Smith and his bandmates will be playing a secret set.

In an exclusive chat, Dan, who will instead tour arenas with the band in November, said: 'We are not doing any festivals this year.
'I love Glastonbury and I will be there jumping around in every field I can physically get myself to.
'But as a kind of lifelong Glastonbury fan, as much as I love playing there, there's something slightly more exciting about just getting to go as a fan and enjoy it.'
It's not all play for Dan though, as the movie-loving singer is on the line-up tomorrow night at the Pilton Palais Cinema, where he will introduce a screening of Wild At Heart.

And Dan won't hear any criticism of the festival line-up.
He said: 'There's so much variety there.
'I think there's a tendency to get hung up on where people are on the bill.'

KT throws hall-night party
KT TUNSTALL added some spice to her 50th birthday celebrations by inviting Mel C to join her on stage at the Royal Albert Hall.
But it wasn't just Sporty who came out for a turn on the mic, with Roger Daltrey, Rick Astley and Natalie Imbruglia performing with KT – while Jools Holland played piano.

Backstage, the birthday girl was full of excitement and joked, 'It was this or a six-pack in the kitchen,' as I wished her good luck before she went on stage.
Fans were treated to a full run- through of her debut album, Eye To The Telescope, which turns 20 this year.
But they got extra bang for their buck when KT performed the title track of the album, which she never released.
'I abandoned it,' KT explained, as she revealed that she recorded the song inside the laboratory where her late dad used to work as a physicist.

'I wrote a verse and the chorus . . . 20 years to write a song, bloody hell.'
The track, which will appear on the re-issue on the album when it comes out in October, is lyrically beautiful and tinged with emotion.
For me, the highlight of the night was KT and Sporty's mash-up of the Spice Girls' 1997 hit Stop with (I've Had) The Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing, which raised the roof of the hall.
Happy birthday, KT.

Lauren's busted as a fan
REMEMBER MONDAY's Lauren Byrne had a mega fan-girl moment backstage at the Isle of Wight Festival after bumping into Busted.
The singer said in an exclusive chat: 'I was a Busted girl when I was younger and I showed James Bourne a photo of me holding a banner I made for a concert when I was younger. I'd drawn all their faces on and everything. He was like, 'Er… it's so nice to meet you'.'

'They were looking very good. I was a Dougie Poynter fan so when we met them . . . I just couldn't speak to him.'
Elsewhere, I caught up with Olly Murs, who chose to break his strict tour rule of eating clean – by tucking into a massive beef Sunday roast.
Lost in translation
RESEARCH from GetYourGuide has revealed one in three fans can't understand Liam Gallagher's thick Manc accent.
It has brought out a 'Manctionary' in time for Oasis' reunion shows.
This will help fans with slang including 'scran's angin', for when they've forked out £12 on a crap burger, and 'bobbins', which translates into 'rubbish'.
Brooklyn bites back in Nic pic
MORE shots have been fired in the never-ending saga that has become Brooklyn Beckham's strained relationship with his family.
According to insiders close to Posh and Becks, the aspiring chef is now being described as 'the hostage' by those who know him – as his wife Nicola Peltz stands accused of distancing Brooklyn from his family.

But Brooklyn has made his feelings clear on how he feels about the nickname, by posting a loved-up snap of actress Nicola on Instagram with the caption: 'It's been five years since I asked this beautiful woman to marry me. Best decision ever.'
The rest of the Beckham clan clearly don't agree.
Given brother Cruz is now giving James Blunt a run for his money in the sarcastic online comments department, I look forward to what response he comes up with.

Simz turns up meltdown heat
LITTLE SIMZ is the epitome of cool. But even the most chilled artist in the music industry couldn't take the heat out of London's Southbank on Sunday night.
In fact, she encouraged it and sent temperatures soaring as she closed the Meltdown Festival – which she curated – backed by the 42-strong Chineke! Orchestra.

Launching into Introvert, from her Mercury Prize-winning album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, was a hit with the crowd.

Talking about her own struggle with mental health, which the record focuses on, Simz added: 'I encourage anyone who is going through anything right now to stay up, stay strong.'
The Chineke! Orchestra, led by Chris Cameron, provided beautiful, deep soundscapes with Simz taking the chance to conduct during Venom.
The tune of the night came with a mash-up of Lion and Point And Kill, featuring Obongjayar, who strutted on to the stage in fabulous diamond-encrusted sunglasses. Exquisite.
Cashh and Wretch 32 joined her for the more pensive Blood, and she treated her fans to new track Lonely, saying: 'It was very much me losing my self-confidence and feeling like I didn't know how to find that again.'

The new issue threatening Jacqeline Jossa & Dan Osborne's turbulent marriage & final red line she won't let him cross
Plus, what's happened since their 'make-or-break' trip to Mexico ROCKY RIDE The new issue threatening Jacqeline Jossa & Dan Osborne's turbulent marriage & final red line she won't let him cross SINCE getting hitched in 2017, Jacqueline Jossa and Dan Osborne's marriage has come under intense scrutiny, with multiple allegations of cheating, money problems and even arrests plaguing the couple. Earlier this year, it looked like the pair had finally split for good after ditching their wedding rings, selling their marital home and releasing a statement saying they were 'handling things privately.' Advertisement 7 Dan Osborne and Jacqueline Jossa's relationship has seen its share of ups and downs over the years Credit: Getty 7 The pair went on a 'make or break' family holiday to Mexico earlier this year Credit: BackGrid 7 The couple, who wed in 2017, are parents to Ella, ten, and Mia, seven Credit: Getty However, following a 'make-or-break' holiday to Mexico, it appeared they were giving it yet another shot. Now, pals have shared the underlying issues Jacqueline and Dan still face as they desperately try to make it work - and revealed the one deal breaker that would see the EastEnders actress walk away for good. Advertisement 'There was a really rocky patch back there and they almost split permanently,' a source said. 'But Dan begged Jac to stay with him. He knows he's not perfect and ultimately she is madly in love with him and can't see herself with anyone else. "She is desperate to keep their family together and he wants to be with her too. "They're making every effort to reignite their spark with a mixture of therapy and space.' However, according to the insider, there's still one thing they just can't agree on - and it continues to cause conflict between them. Advertisement WEDDING WOES 'Jac is desperate for them to renew their wedding vows,' the source said. 'But Dan isn't as keen. "Their children, Ella and Mia and Dan's son Teddy, are at the heart of everything they do - Jac thinks it would be nice for the kids to see it and for all five of them to be in a photo together. Jacqueline Jossa and estranged hubby Dan Osbourne enjoy a 'make or break' Easter holiday together in Mexico 'Dan believes they've already proved their love for each other by sticking together through the highs and lows, so why should they have to do it again.' And the lows have certainly been plenty. Advertisement CHRISTINE CONTROVERSY 7 The Sun shared how Dan had been swapping texts with Christine McGuinness and had even met her at a hotel in 2023 Credit: Splash For years Dan, 34, and Jacqueline, 32, have had to fight rumours of infidelity. In 2018 he furiously denied allegations he'd been getting close with Love Island star Gabby Allen. And a year later, as Jacqueline was in Australia filming I'm A Celeb, model Chloe Ayling claimed she'd had a threesome with Dan and US reality TV star Natalie Nunn, again, something he denied. However, in an exclusive chat with The Sun in 2020, Dan admitted he had been unfaithful, saying: 'I've made mistakes. I've done things I shouldn't have done.' So inevitably his marriage was rocked further in June this year when The Sun revealed he had been swapping texts with Christine McGuinness and had even met her at a hotel in 2023, following her split from TV presenter Paddy McGuinness. Advertisement Pals admit now that Jacqueline was 'frustrated' by the reports and 'hates when all eyes are on her and her marriage.' 'Jac was embarrassed and fed up after the Christine stuff" we were told. 'It wasn't news to her, she knew about the rumours, it was just dredging up the past that they had already worked through so it was frustrating for her to be in the spotlight again. "She doesn't want the world thinking she's married to some love rat - as far as she's concerned Dan is a good man.' That said, the source maintains that Jacqueline has been firm with her husband before. Advertisement 'The biggest misconception about Jac is that she's a walkover and a mug,' the mole said. 'She's very strong minded and she's given Dan hell for what he's done in the past. "He's paid the price - he would be the mug to cheat again.' THE DEALBREAKER 7 If Dan upset their kids, Jac would be tempted to leave, according to a source Credit: Instagram/@jacjossa While our source genuinely believes Jacqueline 'will never leave' Dan, there is an exception to the rule and that would be if he ever did something publicly to hurt their children, Ella, ten, and Mia, seven. Advertisement 'If Dan's actions upset or embarrass their girls, especially as they get older and understand more, that would likely be enough to push Jac to walk away,' the source said. 'If Dan were to put her in a position where she was being humiliated publicly again, especially after she gave him another chance, she'd be unlikely to stay. "She's told him it's his last chance.' PAST MISTAKES 7 Despite their issues, Jac is said to be desperate for them to renew their wedding vows Credit: Getty Aside from the infidelity rumours, Jacqueline and Dan have navigated other issues which threatened to derail their marriage. Advertisement In 2019, his business, Storm Entertainment, was plunged into thousands of pounds worth of debt, which put strain on the couple. And in 2022, Jac was devastated when Dan was arrested at her 30th birthday party, after becoming embroiled in a 'mass brawl' in their back garden. She [Jac] doesn't want the world thinking she's married to some love rat - as far as she's concerned Dan is a good man Friends of Jac Jossa However, our source said Jacqueline keeps a 'level head' when it comes to problems, preferring to focus on protecting her daughters and keeping her family - including Dan's eleven year-old son Teddy from his relationship with Megan Tomlin - together under one roof. 'Jac's very level headed about stuff,' we were told. 'She just loves Dan so much but also wants to keep her family together. "She thinks marriages are about ups and downs and nobody has it perfect. You always need to work on it. Advertisement "Ultimately, she would hate for their girls to wake up in the morning without their dad there.' RULES OF ATTRACTION 7 Jac is said to keep a 'level head' when it comes to problems Credit: Click News and Media As they try and move forward after yet another rocky patch, things do seem to be on the up. The source explained that therapy, communication and Dan being open and honest with Jacquline has been hugely beneficial for them. But ultimately, the fact of the matter is that Jacqueline still fancies the pants off her husband. 'Oh, she thinks Dan is absolute sex on legs,' confirms the pal. Advertisement 'And he in turn tells her he doesn't want to be with anyone else - and that tells her everything she needs to know. They're a family, a strong unit and they love each other very much.' I've made mistakes. I've done things I shouldn't have done Dan Osborne Following their 'make or break' trip to Mexico, it seems Jacqueline has laid down firm ground rules and boundaries, which, according to our source, Dan is happy to stick to. 'Jacqueline's decision to stay with him seems rooted in genuine love, committed work to heal (through therapy and time apart) and prioritising their family unit for their children,' they said. 'She hasn't glossed over Dan's mistakes - she demanded clear commitment from him and truly believes they'll grow stronger together.'

Top WWE star 'cried backstage' over personal detail in new theme song
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE Raw superstar Becky Lynch recently debuted her new theme music from The Wonder Years, and it's more meaningful than fans realise. The current Women's Intercontinental Champion turned to the band's frontman – and her close friend – Dan 'Soupy' Campbell to write the entrance song, and the lyrics delve into her life story with some emotional references. Speaking exclusively to Metro, Dan revealed how Becky was overcome with emotion after the track was debuted for her match at SummerSlam last weekend. 'The lyrics aren't anywhere yet, but I worked in a reference to [her and Seth Rollins' daughter] Roux in the first verse, where there's like a wink to Roux's name,' he explained. 'And then I worked in a reference to Seth in the second verse, and then the chorus references her dad [who died four years ago].' Dan and his sons were in the crowd at SummerSlam, and he has opened up on the moment they shared with Becky after the match. 'We went backstage, and she came up to me crying, and was just like, 'it just meant so much, because the last time my dad saw me wrestle live was here at SummerSlam'. 'That's what I was looking for. I wanted to make something that was really important to her.' It's been a long time coming, as Dan admitted there had been talks about the song being used as early as WrestleMania 41 in April or last month's Evolution premium live event. Becky asked her pal to write the song over text, as she looked to move on from her character as The Man and shift into a new era, with new merch, a photoshoot and behind the scenes video all on the way. 'She wanted a whole kind of new presentation of her character. I think that she was like, 'It's time to move into a new era for me, and that means new music,'' he said. 'I just wanted to make something that she was going to love, more than anything else.' Dan and The Wonder Years were given freedom to craft the track, although he did ask Becky if she wanted them to 'try to write entrance music'. 'She was like, 'No, write a Wonder Years Song. I want something very specifically you. There's a reason I'm asking your band,'' he recalled. *** Watch Becky's first entrance with the new theme below*** WWE were also 'pretty hands off' – they only changed some 'feedback at the beginning' and 'a one beat break' before the music drops – while Dan and the band wanted to make sure the song still fit the tone of her walkout. Otherwise, the song, which has been recorded since March, is exactly as Dan and the band envisioned it. He's no stranger to writing about someone else, having fashioned a second career with Aaron West – a fictional singer songwriter with three albums to his name, and live shows around the world. 'If I had not done Aaron West, I would not know how to have done this song,' he shrugged, admitting that knowing Becky so well as a friend didn't mean he shunned research. There are parallels between the character and the world of wrestling too, with some of Dan's fans believing that his alter ego is a real musician. 'If you found it via, like, Apple Music Playlist, you would have no idea. And so all the time, people come up and truly earnestly call me Aaron,' he laughed. 'Usually, I won't correct them, because if they're living that deep in kayfabe, they can stay there. I don't want to [end] the illusion.' Meanwhile, Dan revealed he's putting the finishing touches on a deal to turning Aaron's story into a series of graphic novels going beyond the tales in the songs. He's also at the 'embryotic stage' of the next Wonder Years album, which will be totally separate from the new song for Becky. 'A few ideas are kicking around. We haven't even gotten together, but ideally, the next thing we'll do is make a Wonder Years record,' he teased. Before Becky's theme, The Wonder Years wrote and recorded Year of the Vulture for 2024's NXT Stand & Deliver event over WrestleMania weekend, so would he do more for WWE or other wrestling promotions? 'It would just really be case by case and person by person,' he admitted, as he'd rather write for people he knows and admires, like former WWE star Mark Andrews and AEW's Willow Nightingale. 'It's hard to vouch for whole companies,' he pointed out, although he even ruled out a song for Becky's husband Seth. More Trending He explained: 'He doesn't need it, and I think, I don't think that we have ever made anything heavy enough for his brand.' Sharing the moment at SummerSlam with his sons, and knowing he's part of WWE history now, is more than enough. 'As a lifelong fan of the art form, it felt crazy to be like, now I am part of the canon,' he beamed. 'I'm a part of the story of wrestling forever. That's not a thing that everybody gets to say.' The Only Way Is Essex to return with 'heartbreaking moments'
The Only Way Is Essex to return with 'heartbreaking moments' The long-running reality show will return on August 17, and an insider has given fans an insight into the cast getaway to Portugal. The Only Way is Essex has been on the air since 2010 (Image: ITV) The new series of The Only Way Is Essex will feature "some of the most heartbreaking moments" in the show's history. The long-running reality show will return on August 17, and an insider has given fans an insight into the cast getaway to Portugal. The source told The Sun newspaper: "Ella [Rae-Wise] and Dan [Edgar] finally come face-to-face after her CBB stint, it's been an incredibly frosty few months and Dan has moved on, but Ella is keen to get some closure and wanted answers from Dan. "The pair hashed things out and try to reach an agreement on how to move forward. "Things also took a very emotional turn for Sammy and Elma. "Their relationship was in tatters but they were desperate to find out what really went wrong. "Sammy broke down in tears as he confessed what's really been going on and if he could see a way back for them. "There are some very raw emotions, some of the most heartbreaking moments that have ever been aired." Rebecca Kenny-Smith, the creative director of unscripted, objective entertainment at ITV, has promised that the new series will be "filled with iconic moments and explosive confrontations". She said in a statement: "We're thrilled that The Only Way Is Essex is celebrating a phenomenal 15 years on screen and to be marking this monumental milestone by returning to our roots of ITV2, with two episodes a week. "This series is filled with iconic moments and explosive confrontations. "It will also feature some of the rawest reality we have ever shot and there are heartbreaking moments, as our cast navigate the emotional fallout of their relationships and bravely share their vulnerabilities." The Only Way Is Essex reverted to one episode per week back in 2018, but ITV bosses hope that the new approach will prove to be successful. A source said: "ITV want to make a big splash with the show returning to its original home on ITV2 with the closure of ITVBe. "It's one of their flagship shows and it's still one of ITVX's most streamed shows with 66 million streams in the last 12 months alone. Article continues below "Bosses think it's high time the show was reinstated to airing twice a week, just like it did in its original heyday."
