WWE Raw superstar Becky Lynch recently debuted her new theme music from The Wonder Years, and it's more meaningful than fans realise.
The current Women's Intercontinental Champion turned to the band's frontman – and her close friend – Dan 'Soupy' Campbell to write the entrance song, and the lyrics delve into her life story with some emotional references.
Speaking exclusively to Metro, Dan revealed how Becky was overcome with emotion after the track was debuted for her match at SummerSlam last weekend.
'The lyrics aren't anywhere yet, but I worked in a reference to [her and Seth Rollins' daughter] Roux in the first verse, where there's like a wink to Roux's name,' he explained.
'And then I worked in a reference to Seth in the second verse, and then the chorus references her dad [who died four years ago].'
Dan and his sons were in the crowd at SummerSlam, and he has opened up on the moment they shared with Becky after the match.
'We went backstage, and she came up to me crying, and was just like, 'it just meant so much, because the last time my dad saw me wrestle live was here at SummerSlam'.
'That's what I was looking for. I wanted to make something that was really important to her.'
It's been a long time coming, as Dan admitted there had been talks about the song being used as early as WrestleMania 41 in April or last month's Evolution premium live event.
Becky asked her pal to write the song over text, as she looked to move on from her character as The Man and shift into a new era, with new merch, a photoshoot and behind the scenes video all on the way.
'She wanted a whole kind of new presentation of her character. I think that she was like, 'It's time to move into a new era for me, and that means new music,'' he said.
'I just wanted to make something that she was going to love, more than anything else.'
Dan and The Wonder Years were given freedom to craft the track, although he did ask Becky if she wanted them to 'try to write entrance music'.
'She was like, 'No, write a Wonder Years Song. I want something very specifically you. There's a reason I'm asking your band,'' he recalled.

WWE were also 'pretty hands off' – they only changed some 'feedback at the beginning' and 'a one beat break' before the music drops – while Dan and the band wanted to make sure the song still fit the tone of her walkout.
Otherwise, the song, which has been recorded since March, is exactly as Dan and the band envisioned it.
He's no stranger to writing about someone else, having fashioned a second career with Aaron West – a fictional singer songwriter with three albums to his name, and live shows around the world.
'If I had not done Aaron West, I would not know how to have done this song,' he shrugged, admitting that knowing Becky so well as a friend didn't mean he shunned research.
There are parallels between the character and the world of wrestling too, with some of Dan's fans believing that his alter ego is a real musician.
'If you found it via, like, Apple Music Playlist, you would have no idea. And so all the time, people come up and truly earnestly call me Aaron,' he laughed.
'Usually, I won't correct them, because if they're living that deep in kayfabe, they can stay there. I don't want to [end] the illusion.'
Meanwhile, Dan revealed he's putting the finishing touches on a deal to turning Aaron's story into a series of graphic novels going beyond the tales in the songs.
He's also at the 'embryotic stage' of the next Wonder Years album, which will be totally separate from the new song for Becky.
'A few ideas are kicking around. We haven't even gotten together, but ideally, the next thing we'll do is make a Wonder Years record,' he teased.
Before Becky's theme, The Wonder Years wrote and recorded Year of the Vulture for 2024's NXT Stand & Deliver event over WrestleMania weekend, so would he do more for WWE or other wrestling promotions?
'It would just really be case by case and person by person,' he admitted, as he'd rather write for people he knows and admires, like former WWE star Mark Andrews and AEW's Willow Nightingale.
'It's hard to vouch for whole companies,' he pointed out, although he even ruled out a song for Becky's husband Seth. More Trending
He explained: 'He doesn't need it, and I think, I don't think that we have ever made anything heavy enough for his brand.'
Sharing the moment at SummerSlam with his sons, and knowing he's part of WWE history now, is more than enough.
'As a lifelong fan of the art form, it felt crazy to be like, now I am part of the canon,' he beamed. 'I'm a part of the story of wrestling forever. That's not a thing that everybody gets to say.'

Abi and Carl's affair exposed in Coronation Street amid reckless display

Abi Webster (Sally Carman) and brother in law Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) have been playing with fire in Coronation Street as they've starting meeting up for passionate encounters. In a tight-knit place like Weatherfield where the net curtains are forever twitching, it's only a matter of time before somebody works out what's going on. And the person who discovers the illicit affair is probably the worst person possible apart from Kevin (Michael Le Vell). It's Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), who is the human embodiment of the phrase 'loose cannon.' Tracy, of course, is a bit partial to Carl herself and has taken every opportunity to flirt with him. She's at it again in an upcoming episode and Carl is flirting back – partly to cover for the fact that he really only has eyes for Abi. Even so, Abi is cross when he lets slip his room number at the Chariot Square Hotel to Tracy, but Carl appeases her and they arrange to meet up later at the hotel. When Carl gets to his room later, anticipating meeting Abi, he's pleased to find she's already there and is in the shower. But as the bathroom door opens there's a shock. It's Tracy. Carl later reports back to Abi that Tracy turned up at the hotel and that he rejected her advances. But did he? Abi's not sure and she's not best pleased. With Debbie (Sue Devaney) encouraging Tracy to try again with Carl, there's still tension between Carl and Abi. He tells her that as long as she's still sleeping with Kevin there's no reason why he shouldn't sleep with Tracy. Abi's supposed to be going on holiday with Kevin, but she tells him she can't find her passport and urges him to go on ahead of her and she'll join him when she's sorted the passport situation out. Meanwhile Tracy is once again at the hotel with Carl, but this time he tells her he's in love with someone else. He's shocked when she immediately correctly guesses who the someone else is. How is he going to talk his way out of that? The following night Abi and Carl take advantage of Kevin and Jack (Kyran Bowes) being away and Carl stays the night at number 13. Abi dashes out to buy some lager because it's thirsty work, and Tracy sees her. More Trending Meanwhile, Debbie has let herself into number 13 to do a spot of cleaning as she believes the house is empty with the family away on holiday. She takes a dizzy turn and collapses, and Carl – who's been hiding upstairs – rushes down to look after his sister. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? The end ‘sealed' for Charity and Mack in Emmerdale as row explodes over sad loss

One could say the writing has been on the wall for Emmerdale's Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Charity Dingle's (Emma Atkins) marriage ever since she agreed to carry her granddaughter's baby. Mack was very clear at the beginning of the surrogacy saga that he did not want Charity playing surrogate. But after a lot of emotional blackmail and her disregarding his feelings for Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill), he cracked and gave it his blessing. He later admitted to Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) that he only said yes as the probability of it being successful was so low. Mack later had to eat his words after the embryo transfer and it seemed like everything was going ahead. But then devastation hit – Mack convinced Charity (Emma Atkins) to go for a walk, where she slipped and fell, accidentally destroying the embryo. Mack foolishly revealed he was secretly pleased, causing Charity to kick him out. Mack felt forced to consent to a second try, which saw Charity get pregnant, and now Mack truly is facing his biggest fear of losing his wife. And yet Charity is still ignoring his needs. He wants them to spend time together, but she's too distracted with everything. Feeling rejected, Mack heads to the pub to drown his sorrows alone. Ross Barton (Michael Parr) finds him and senses something going on, so ribs him about the surrogacy. Not in the mood for Ross' particular kind of bants, Mack reveals it's the anniversary of the day they lost their baby. Hollyoaks confirms Sienna's fate as aftermath of Jez showdown is revealed

Hollyoaks has confirmed that Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) will live following her showdown with dastardly killer Jez (Jeremy Sheffield) – but an unexpected twist follows. The much-loved show favourite, as viewers know, uncovered the truth about evil dad Jez earlier this week after finding Robbie Roscoe's (Charlie Wernham) body at the allotment. Robbie was one of several characters killed by serial killer Jez, who has been claiming lives for much of his, documenting his kills in a disturbing journal which he keeps at the flat. Sienna had some knowledge of Jez's brutality when she discovered that he'd killed Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) earlier this year and, in unsettling scenes, she assisted him in burying the body. Jez vowed that he had turned over a new leaf and Sienna hoped that he was telling the truth. However, things took quite a turn last week when she learned via Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) that Dilly's DNA had been found in connection with Dennis and Ian Stone the social worker. Given that Dilly died in January and Ian was killed just a matter of weeks ago, it didn't take long for Sienna to work out that something was awry. Desperate for answers, the former high school teacher made a beeline for the allotment, where she uncovered Jez's grisly crimes, unearthing the body of Robbie Roscoe, who had also been killed by the murderer. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Monday's (August 11) edition of the Channel 4 soap dealt with the aftermath of the discovery as Sienna demanded that Jez come clean over his actions. Jez wasted little time in showing just how twisted he truly is, basking in his killer nature as he told Sienna he was relieved that he no longer had to hide from her. Utterly appalled by the depths of his evilness, Sienna feared for the lives of her loved ones, reminding him that he's already killed family members in Dilly and Dennis. In tense scenes, Sienna raced across the city walls and made a phone call to Dodger – but Jez intervened. A dramatic face-off ensued, with Sienna pushing her villainous dad away. As he teetered on the edge of the faulty railing, he pulled Sienna with him as the two plummeted to the ground below. The immediate aftermath of the showdown will be revealed on-screen this week but new spoilers for next week confirm that both Sienna and Jez escape the situation with their lives intact. Their memories, however… well that's another story. In upcoming scenes set to air next week, Sienna tells Jez and Liberty Savage (Jeramy Stoddart) that it's looking unlikely that will ever regain the lost memories. Liberty worries that SIenna is keeping something from Jez. It seems there is more to this than meets the eye as, at one stage during the week, Sienna logs on to a chatroom, hoping for advice on having a serial killer as a father. Later, she frantically tries to sell the stall and stock, much to Lib's horror. More Trending Afterwards, Sienna pays a visit to see Dodger at the station but before she gets to speak to him, Jez arrives. The question is: is the truth coming back to Sienna? And either way, will Jez claim her life? Or is the clock finally ticking on the villainous gardener? Will Sienna prove instrumental in taking him down? Will Liberty finally see him for who he is?
