Honda CBR650R and CB650R E-Clutch variants to hit Indian shores soon: What to expect
Honda is going to launch the CBR650R and CB650R E-Clutch variants in India as indicated by teasers on social media channels.
The Honda CBR650R and CB650R E-Clutch variants are set to arrive on Indian shores soon, as hinted by social media teasers posted by Honda BigWing India. The latest iterations of the middleweight duo were launched in India in January 2025, with buyers in the country missing out on the coveted E-Clutch technology at the time. With the new teasers, we can expect the more advanced E-Clutch variants to launch in the coming days.
The Honda CB650R naked streetfighter is currently priced at ₹ 9.2 lakh, while its fully-faired sibling, the CBR650R, is slotted in at ₹ 10 lakh (both ex-showroom). When the E-Clutch variants launch in the country, expect to pay approximately ₹ 30,000 extra for the added technology. Honda CB650R and CBR650R: What is E-Clutch?
Available in the European and US markets, the E-Clutch feature aims to put the rider's mind at ease by making the shifting experience less fatiguing, especially in city traffic. This feature eliminates the need to pull the clutch lever during starts, stops, and gear changes. With this, the rider can simply operate the shift pedal for fast and consistent gear changes.
The Honda E-Clutch operates based on vehicle parameters, which include speed, engine rpm, and gear position. The clutch is operated by an actuator unit with two servo motors inside the right-hand engine cover. The system further allows riders to adjust the shift pedal operational feel through three settings – Hard, Medium, and Soft.

Despite the new feature, riders can manually operate the clutch by engaging the lever at any given moment. Honda says the E-Clutch system will re-activate in less than a second above a certain engine rpm, or after five seconds at a lower speed. If deemed unnecessary for a particular trip, the rider can choose to disengage the E-Clutch feature altogether using the switchgear. Honda CB650R and CBR650R: Specifications and Hardware
The Honda CBR650R and CB650R are both powered by the same 649 cc liquid-cooled inline-four cylinder engine. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and makes 95 bhp and 63 Nm of torque.
The Japanese manufacturer has built the two middleweights around a steel diamond frame. This is held up by 41 mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston Forks in the front and a rear monoshock with 10-step adjustability. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 310 mm discs at the front and a single 240 mm disc at the rear. Honda further rounds up the package with dual-channel ABS and traction control.

Electric Royal Enfield Himalayan ADV Spotted Testing In Ladakh
India's first ever fully electric ADV may not be far away from an actual launch. The photos that you see in this story are of the test mule of the electric Himalayan, spotted in Ladakh. And if we were to just go by the photos, then the motorcycle seems quite close to being production ready. The first electric concept of the Himalayan was showcased at EICMA 2023, called the Him-E and since then, the journey from being a concept to testing was done rather quickly . The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric stays true to the core of being an ADV and has few design similarities compared to the current Himalayan 450. Details like the tall vertical windscreen, round LED headlight, tank guards on either side and off-road biased Bridgestone Battlax tyres complete the ADV look. The gold-coloured bits such as the USD fork up front, SM Pro Platinum rims and the Ohlins monoshock at the rear. Yes, the test mule gets an Ohlins monoshock, which seems to be fully adjustable. Rounding up the off-road look is the single-piece seat which extends to where the fuel tank usually sits. The part that has us excited is the liberal use of premium components. One can also spot single petal discs on either end. The battery pack is where the engine is supposed to be and together with the motor, it seems to be a stressed member on the Aluminium frame. The battery case seems to be made of Aluminium as well. The dashboard uses an Ecumaster unit, but that is most likely only for testing purposes. The final product may have a different instrument console. We expect the motorcycle to get a decent range of electronics like ABS, traction control and various riding modes. Now, there are no details on the battery and motor capacity, range, charging times and other specifications but those will be revealed in due time. Also, the premium components seen here may not make it to the final production model either. But the fact that RE plans to launch the electric Himalayan in the next couple of years, right after the Flying Flea C6 and S6, seems quite exciting.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara production plans revised amid supply crunch: Report

The country's largest carmaker has drastically scaled down production targets for its first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara, slashing planned output for the April–September period by over 65 per cent, a Reuters report has stated. Internal records disclose that the automaker now seeks to manufacture only 8,200 units within this timeframe, a steep reduction from its original 26,500 units. The action is due to a shortage of supply of rare earth materials—key elements that are part of EV components such as magnets and motors. China, which dominates the provision of these materials, has made them more difficult to obtain under tightened export controls. The control is part of an overarching geopolitical agenda by China, with the consequence cascading across the world's auto supply chains. Company maintains annual EV production target In spite of the delay, Maruti Suzuki is confident of achieving its yearly target of 67,000 e-Vitaras production by March 2026. The auto manufacturer is going to increase production sharply in the latter half of the financial year, aiming to clock over 58,000 units from October to March. The change in production timeline indicates a revised approach as the automaker tries to adjust to volatile supply situations. Two supply chain insiders, while confirming the production cut, said the exact scale of the reduction was known only to top executives. Exports may see delays The e-Vitara holds significant strategic value not just for the Indian market but also as a key export product for Suzuki's global network. Majority of the EVs manufactured in India had to be exported to overseas destinations, such as Europe and Japan, with export deliveries anticipated to commence in mid-2025. If production interruptions take any longer, this will impact Suzuki's international contractual obligations on supply and is anticipated to delay their ultimate electrification plans. Suzuki had already highlighted India as a manufacturing base for their global EV plans, adding even greater consequence to this slowdown. Maruti's share in the domestic passenger vehicle segment has slipped to 41 per cent, down from 51 per cent just five years ago. Compounding the problem is the coming of the world EV behemoth Tesla to India, which will only enhance the rivalry. Scaling back long-term EV ambitions The present production problems are not the only indication of recalibration in Maruti Suzuki. The parent entity of MSIL, Suzuki Motor Corporation, has reportedly changed its long-term plans and Indian production objectives. The automaker has trimmed its 2031 sales target from 3 million vehicles to 2.5 million and has reduced the number of planned EV launches from six to four.
