Forget Virgin Island - 2025's most shocking TV show airs tonight

Metro16-05-2025

After a week of Virgin Island headlines chronicling viewer reaction ranging from the 'uncomfortable' to the 'creeped out', Channel 4 has another show to leave you itching for the remote.
If you're in search of something that also mines the sexual lives of people and is billed as a unique experiment, enter Open House: Great Sex Experiment.
Now on its third season, the show explores what it claims is 'one of society's greatest taboos'. Virgin Island takes on celibacy and in Open House its monogamy that's in question.
The sexperiment follows monogamous couples in the journey of opening up their relationship. The couples involved are sent on a sex retreat at a country house we have to presume wasn't just booked on AirBnB, hosted by long-time non-monogamous couple Jess and Thom.
Jess and Thom then help the couples open up – in both senses of the word – with activities like erotic group games and then maybe more. The noisy night vision footage might mean you end up watching this one through your fingers.
Like Virgin Island, there is a therapeutic element. The show has a new relationship therapist this season, who is there to help couples navigate the emotions of opening up what can be long term relationships and decide if that's something they genuinely want to do.

One couple opening up their relationship are childhood sweethearts Chloe and Paul, who have never had sex with anyone but each other. After Chloe shared her previous attraction to women, the couple have a threesome with another woman in tonight's episode. More Trending
Then there's Mark and Tanith, who believe they can rebuild trust after an infidelity by opening their relationship. Or Welsh couple Jonny and Sarah, who have been trying to get into bed with other people for years, but keep losing their nerve.
In the episode airing tonight, Tanith and Paul are also coping with the fact that their partners spent their first night at the retreat having sex with multiple other people, while they both slept alone.
In most cases one part of a couple will be more enthusiastic or more jealous than the other. The emotional fallout is perhaps the most compelling part of the show, especially if the slurpy nighttime footage isn't your thing.

Warren also taunted Freddie by saying everyone in his life would be better off without him. Ultimately, Freddie complied and wrote a goodbye letter to "soulmate" Mercedes - who was crushed over his apparent death. The actor originally played Freddie from 2013 until leaving in 2017. From Hollyoaks to Hollywood James Corden played a caretaker in the early days of the soap. The former American TV host doesn't have much positive to say about his time on the soap, claiming it was "hell on earth." Since his short-lived time on the show he has gone on to bigger things including smash hit comedy Gavin and Stacey. Rachel Shenton joined the soap as aspiring glamour model Mitzeee Minniver in 2010. Over two years her character was sent to prison, got pregnant and had a number of romantic affairs. Since leaving Hollyoaks she has won an Oscar for best live action short film, The Silent Child. Rachel has also starred in White Gold and All Creatures Great and Small Emmett J. Scanlan played gangster turned anti-hero Brendan Brady. Emmett played the love interest of Steve Hayes, with their romance delighting fans until it turned violent. Since his departure Emmett has appeared in Peaky Blinders, The Fall, Gangs of London and even appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Emma Rigby joined Hollyoaks when she was 15 as Hannah Ahsworth. Hannah's eating disorder storyline was the first of it's kind on TV while other plots included being caught in a fire, gangland drug dealing and running away. Since leaving the soap in 2010 Emma has gone on to star in ABCs Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as the Red Queen. Other roles include guest appearances in Death In Paradise, Ripper Street and Fresh Meat Nico Mirallegro got his big break with Hollyoaks starring as emo Barry 'Newt' Newton. Nico's main storyline in the soap was developing schizophrenia which culminated in a suicide pact. He left the soap in 2010 and went on to star in My Mad Fat Diary, Our Girl, Rillington Place, The Ark and Common, Penance, as well as the Mike Leigh movie Peterloo and was nominated for a Bafta for his role in period drama The Village. Ricky Whittle used Hollyoaks as a stepping stone to break America. He played one of the soap's resident hunks, Calvin Valentine, from 2006 to 2011 - when he was killed off at his wedding. After leaving the soap Ricky cracked America starring in teen drama The 100 and America Gods. He also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009. Warren Brown joined Hollyoaks in 2005 for a year as evil Andy Holt. His stint on the show consisted of date rape storylines and a crime spree, before eventually being killed off. After leaving Hollyoaks, Warren became a big hitter in TV playing DS Justin Ripley in Luther, as well as major roles in a number of dramas including Liar, The Responder, Homefront and Good Cop. Wallis Day played Holly Cunningham in the soap for years before leaving. In 2021 Wallis won the role of Batwoman in DC's series, taking over from Ruby Rose. Earlier this year, The Sun revealed Charlie would be exiting the soap again. A source said at the time: 'Charlie has finished his stint filming. 'He's hugely popular and everyone's really sad to see him go but the storyline is great and it was all planned out before his return. 'There's going to be a big send off for Freddie as the soap ramps up for a huge summer leading to the 30th later this year.'

‘Furious' Channel 4 F1 presenter slams trolls for horrific abuse about her appearance after undergoing operation

FORMULA ONE presenter Lee McKenzie has slammed trolls for horrific abuse after undergoing an operation. The Channel 4 star is one of the top sports commentators around and currently fronts the channel's F1 coverage. 2 2 McKenzie has covered plenty of other sports in the past too, including the Olympics, Wimbledon and the Six Nations. She's been leading Channel 4's F1 coverage since 2016 and is often spotted at the season's biggest races. However, McKenzie claims her most recent appearance did not go to plan. After turning up to present at the Spanish Grand Prix, she revealed that she had been subjected to vile abuse by trolls. McKenzie says they took aim at her weight and appearance. And she has now revealed that she had gone to Spain after a gruelling operation in hospital last month. Writing on Instagram, McKenzie blasted: 'I've been thinking about whether I should post this but I will as it's not just about me, it's for all women and men too. 'Last month I went into hospital for an operation and I've been struggling with some health issues for a while now. BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS 'As you see on here I'm a private person and I post about my work, not too much about life outside of work. I don't need or want attention or validation. 'But the comments about my appearance and weight at the Spanish Grand Prix have been horrific. I've had to turn off comments on my social media. It's worth saying they came from women and men alike. F1 stars' pets including driver with thirteen cats, Leclerc's yacht-loving pooch and Hamilton's dog Roscoe with own car 'If you don't like what someone wears or looks like on television, feel free to think about it but why send it to them? Why contact someone to be deliberately rude? 'I'm a journalist and I'm good at my job and I'm furious that this affects me. But it does and there will be people out there getting similar abuse that are not as strong as me. Don't do it. 'The good news is that a larger operation that I thought I was going to get isn't needed at the moment and things can be treated with medication. 'Many people have this. It's not about being unwell. It's about the vile comments from women and men commenting on my appearance. 'My health is improving and I'm back at the gym. For me. Not for anyone else. Think before you write to someone.'

All the easter eggs fans have spotted in the Wicked: For Good trailer

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page The trailer for Wicked: For Good has finally arrived, and with it, a tidal wave of excitement, speculation, and screen grabs. The sequel to last year's Wicked, which soared to $755million (£590m) at the global box office and landed 10 Oscar nominations, brings back Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda to continue the witches' origin story. Based on the second act of the Wicked stage musical, itself adapted from Gregory Maguire's novel (and of course, L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz), Wicked: For Good picks up with Elphaba in hiding and Glinda navigating the aftermath of their diverging paths. The trailer teases heartbreak, rebellion, and the arrival of a mysterious figure in ruby slippers. But beyond the drama and vocals, fans are noticing something else: Easter eggs. X user @2nnjenn_ wrote: 'Quick someone smarter than me find all the easter eggs and spoilers from the Wicked: For Good trailer. #wicked' Ariana returns as Glinda in the new trailer (Picture:Universal Pictures UK) And we get our first look at the yellow brick road (Picture: Universal Pictures UK) Some fans think the trailer supports the fan theory that Elphaba is bisexual (Picture: Universal Pictures UK) @juan_g_lopez605 agreed: 'me looking for easter eggs in the trailer #WickedForGood' One of the most talked-about elements of the trailer is the implied arrival of Dorothy Gale. Several users pointed out that the ruby red slipper shots directly reference the original Wizard of Oz film, even mimicking exact shots. Many fans connected the imagery to the 1939 classic, suggesting that director Jon M Chu is intentionally tying the two film worlds together. One X user pointed out that the trailer also included cut scenes from part one, perhaps suggesting there's more crossover between the parts than previously thought. This makes sense, given that both Wicked films were edited simultaneously. Fans now speculate that some moments were intentionally held back to enrich Part Two's emotional and narrative stakes. One of the most widely shared discoveries involves Michelle Yeoh's Madame Morrible, who appears to summon a massive tornado in the trailer. Fans noticed that the skies outside during this moment look eerily familiar. @TheeStellaBrown wrote: 'YALL OMG in the wicked for good trailer, when Morrible summons the tornado, outside it's the same colours as the wizard of oz before oz omg !!!' The sequence seems to directly reference the sepia tones and swirling clouds from the moment Dorothy's farmhouse is swept away in the 1939 film. The trailer's emotional center is a tearful goodbye between Elphaba and Glinda. 'You're the only friend I ever had,' Elphaba tells her. 'The only one that mattered,' Glinda replies. It's underscored by a new version of the duet For Good, and follows Erivo's haunting rendition of No Good Deed. For many fans, the moment reads as more than just friendship. @thisredwine: 'new wicked trailer featuring 'no good deed' (the best elphaba/fiyero song) and 'for good' (the best elphaba/glinda song) as a symbol of elphaba's bisexuality in this essay i will—' Whether read as subtext or text, the deep emotional intimacy between the two women continues to resonate with queer audiences. From the Wizard's smoke-filled throne room to shots of the Yellow Brick Road curling into the horizon, the trailer is filled with visual homages to The Wizard of Oz. Fans have pointed out recurring camera angles, costume designs, and lighting cues that seem pulled straight from the 1939 film. As one user put it: 'It's giving vintage MGM… and I'm not mad about it.' Director Jon M Chu has described the two-part structure as a necessity, saying it would have been 'impossible' to do the musical justice in one film. Now, with Wicked: For Good set to close the curtain on this reimagined Oz, fans are soaking in every frame. Got a story?
