Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav meets with PM Modi in Delhi, discusses development plans for state

Earlier today, over 20 Chief Ministers and 18 Deputy Chief Ministers from various states gathered in New Delhi for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Chief Ministers' conclave, held under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting concluded with the adoption of two key resolutions, one lauding the armed forces for Operation Sindoor and another supporting the caste census initiative.
Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda addressed a press conference after the conclusion of the meeting and stated that Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, was highly praised by multiple leaders with the bravery of the armed forces being highly appreciated.
'Today, our National Democratic Alliance's CM conclave was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Our 20 CMs and 18 Deputy CMs were present in this meeting. 2 resolutions were passed. The first resolution was on Operation Sindoor, which was carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the work of our army was highly praised, and the bravery shown by the army was highly appreciated,' JP Nadda said during the press conference.
The leaders also discussed the Chhattisgarh government's development model and innovative initiatives. A presentation made by CM Vishnu Deo Sai on the Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum captivated the attention of the Prime Minister and other participating Chief Ministers in the NDA conclave meeting. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao also attended the conclave.
The day-long NDA CMs and Dy CMs conclave, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was a brainstorming session on good governance issues. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among the senior leaders present at the conclave, which served as a platform for discussing good governance practices and innovative state-level initiatives. Earlier, RJD leader and foremer Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav exhorted the people of Bihar to make Congress leader Rahul Gandhi the prime minister after the next Lok Sabha polls. Addressing a rally on the third day of Congress's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Nawada, he also called upon the youth to 'root out the NDA' from the state in the assembly elections due later in the year. Yadav was accompanied by Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders during the fortnight-long yatra, which began on Sunday. The RJD leader described Gandhi as the one 'who has given sleepless nights to Prime Minister Narendra Modi' for undertaking the state-wide yatra. 'In the upcoming assembly polls, we shall root out the NDA, which has been running a government comparable to a rickety old car ('khatara') for the last 20 years. And, in the next Lok Sabha polls, we shall make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister,' said Yadav, evoking cheers from the crowd. 'Can you say it's criminal to love?': SC bats for distinction of rape from 'genuine' romance
The Supreme Court on Tuesday underlined the need to distinguish between rape and genuine romantic cases involving youngsters on the verge of majority. The bench observed that the police would look into the matters to ascertain whether it was a case of kidnapping, trafficking or whether it was a case of genuine love.(ANI) A bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and R Mahadevan noted the existence of co-education institutions and universities and said, "Now, they develop feelings for each other. Can you say it is criminal to love? We have to keep a distinction between a criminal act like rape, etc., from this." The observations came on a petition raising the question whether or not the age of consent, which is 18 years, should be reduced to 16 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. "When there are genuine romantic cases, they like each other and they want to get married... Don't treat such cases the same as criminal cases," the bench said. The bench went on, "You have to keep the reality of society in mind." The top court referred to the trauma such couples face, generally owing to the male partner being sent to jail by the parents of the girl after filing a case under the POCSO Act. "This is the harsh reality in society," the bench said, noting cases under the POCSO Act were also filed to cover up elopements. Senior advocate H S Phoolka, appearing for the petitioner organisation, called for safeguards. The bench observed that the police would look into the matters to ascertain whether it was a case of kidnapping, trafficking or whether it was a case of genuine love. Phoolka said a similar issue concerning the age of consent was being considered by another bench of the apex court. The bench posted the matter for August 26 after Phoolka said he would place on record some top court orders in the context of the prayers sought for in the petition. Recently, the Centre defended in the apex court the statutory age of consent of 18 years, saying the decision was a "deliberate, well-considered, and coherent" policy choice aimed at shielding minors from sexual exploitation. The Centre said diluting the age of consent or introducing exceptions under the guise of adolescent romance would be not only legally unsound but also dangerous. The written submissions was filed in a separate case which raises the point of age in adolescent relationships.

In seeking support for Sudershan Reddy, Revanth evokes Telugu pride – and a throwback to Narasimha Rao
Hours after former Supreme Court judge Justice B Sudershan Reddy was nominated by the INDIA bloc for the Vice President post, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy evoked Telugu pride and asked all parties in the two Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to vote for him. 'INDIA announcing the name of Justice B Sudershan Reddy is a matter of pride for Telugus, and especially those from Telangana,' he said at a press conference. INDIA alliance opted to nominate a non-political person who is a constitutional expert to the post because he is capable of safeguarding the Constitution, he said. 'This is a person from an ordinary farming family. A son of Telangana who studied law at Osmania University, became a judge and rose to great heights. It is a matter of Telugu pride to vote for him by setting aside political differences,' he said. 'It is the responsibility of every Telugu person to vote for him.' He urged all parties, including Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Jana Sena Party, to support him over the NDA candidate, C P Radhakrishnan. Naming leaders of these parties – from N Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrashekar Rao to Asaduddin Owaisi and Pawan Kalyan – he said, 'This is a fight between those who want to safeguard the Constitution and those against it.' When all Telugu people came together to declare Telugu as a classical language, why shouldn't they come together to support a Telugu son of the soil, he said. Remembering TDP's NT Rama Rao (NTR), who did not field a candidate in Nandyala by-election against former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, Revanth said, 'I ask the TDP to take the example of NTR who said that Narasimha Rao becoming prime minister is a matter of pride for all Telugus. He did not field a TDP candidate against Narasimha Rao that year.' This, however, is not a fight between a Tamil candidate and a Telugu candidate, he said. 'This is a fight between those against the Constitution and those protecting it.' Asked why other parties should vote against NDA's OBC candidate, Revanth said, 'If he (Radhakrishan) becomes V-P, OBCs will suffer because he comes from a party and side which opposes reservation. But Sudershan Reddy headed the expert committee which finally awarded 42% reservation for Backward Classes. He stands for the BCs and the BCs will benefit with him as Vice President.'
