Tom Felton returns as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway
Felton will begin performances on November 11, 2025, for a 19-week engagement, running through March 22, 2026. This will be the first time a cast member from the original Harry Potter film series has joined the Broadway production of the play.
Set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Cursed Child follows the now-adult characters, including Draco Malfoy, as they navigate the challenges of parenthood while sending their children off to Hogwarts. Felton, who portrayed the infamous Slytherin in the Harry Potter films, shared his excitement about returning to the role, saying it will be a 'full-circle moment' for him. At the age of Draco's character in the play, Felton feels a special connection to the role and expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with the "greatest fan community" in the world.
The production, which originally opened at the Lyric Theatre in 2018, was modified after the pandemic. The Broadway version was condensed into a single, 3.5-hour show, compared to its original two-part format.
Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender highlighted the significance of Felton's return to the role, noting that his portrayal of Draco as an adult facing parenthood and legacy will bring fresh depth to the character. 'We feel incredibly fortunate to welcome Tom into our Cursed Child family,' said the producers, emphasizing the excitement of fans worldwide to see Felton back as the iconic Malfoy.
This marks a milestone for both Felton's career and the ongoing success of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway.

'Equalizer' co-creator Michael Sloan dies at 78 in New York City
Michael Sloan, the acclaimed television writer and producer who co-created the original The Equalizer series, died on Wednesday in New York City. He was 78. Born in New York City in 1946, Sloan was immersed in the entertainment world from a young age. His grandfather, Fred Stone, was a vaudeville actor best known for playing the Scarecrow in the 1902 Broadway production of The Wizard of Oz. His parents, Paula Stone and Michael Sloane, were also prominent Broadway producers during the mid-20th century. Sloan began his career in the U.K., where he wrote and produced his first three films: the 1972 short Hunted and the features Assassin and Moments in the early 1970s. He gained critical attention in 1976 after penning 'Now You See Him,' a widely praised fifth-season episode of Columbo—the only episode in the series' history written by a freelancer. Upon returning to the U.S., Sloan joined Universal Television, contributing to popular series such as McCloud, Quincy, M.E., Battlestar Galactica, and The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew Mysteries. His work on Quincy, M.E. earned him an Emmy nomination. In the 1980s, while working with MTM Studios, Sloan returned to Universal to co-create The Equalizer with Richard Lindheim. The original series, starring Edward Woodward, debuted on CBS in 1985 and ran for four seasons. Sloan later produced all three of Columbia Pictures' Equalizer films starring Denzel Washington (2014–2023), and served as an executive producer on CBS's 2021 reboot featuring Queen Latifah, which concluded after five seasons in May. Beyond television, Sloan wrote and produced several made-for-TV films, including adaptations of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Six Million Dollar Man. He also authored The Equalizer novel series and a memoir, One More Thing, Sir…, chronicling his Hollywood career. Sloan is survived by his wife of 35 years, Melissa; their children, Piper and Griffin; and his sister, Judy. In his memory, donations can be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

'House of Cards' actor Dan Ziskie dies at 80
Dan Ziskie, a veteran character actor known for his roles in acclaimed television series such as House of Cards and Treme, died on July 21 at the age of 80. According to his family, the cause of death was arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Born in Detroit, Ziskie earned a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan. Early in his career, he worked as a crewman aboard a Great Lakes freighter before relocating to Chicago, where he became involved with the renowned Second City Comedy Troupe. There, he collaborated with iconic comedians including John Belushi, Brian Doyle-Murray, and Joe Flaherty. Ziskie transitioned to the stage in the 1980s, serving as an understudy in the Broadway revival of Paul Osborn's Morning's at Seven and later joining the cast of Herb Gardner's I'm Not Rappaport. He moved into television with appearances on shows like Remington Steele, The Equalizer, and Quantum Leap, and also had roles in several films including Adventures in Babysitting, O.C. and Stiggs, Synecdoche, New York, and Troop Beverly Hills. In more recent years, Ziskie was best known for recurring roles on HBO's Treme and Netflix's House of Cards, in which he portrayed the Vice President of the United States. He also co-starred in ABC's Zero Hour alongside Anthony Edwards and made guest appearances on popular series such as Gossip Girl, ER, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Elementary, Bull, and Blue Bloods. He was also featured on Chappelle's Show in 2004. Beyond acting, Ziskie was a passionate street photographer. In 2017, he published a photo book titled Cloud Chamber, showcasing scenes of New York City. Ziskie is survived by his brother David and sister-in-law Cynthia, along with nephews Jesse, Brett, and Austin, and their six children.
