Sturgeon says ‘midlife crisis' tattoo may not be her last time getting inked

Rhyl Journal3 days ago
The former Scottish first minister said the tattoo, inked on the inside of her wrist, 'might not be my last one' – adding that she has now 'got the taste for it'.
She revealed the new tattoo publicly during an exclusive interview with ITV News ahead of the publication of her memoirs, Frankly, later this week.
Ms Sturgeon described the design, which she came up with, as being 'kind of an infinity symbol with an arrow' – adding that stood for 'strength, resilience and continuing to move forward, even when it feels impossible'.
She was asked about it when she was questioned by ITV News at Ten presenter Julie Etchingham.
Ms Sturgeon said: 'Midlife crisis alert! What it is, is known really only to me, but I'll give you a kind of sense of it. It's kind of an infinity symbol with an arrow, and I came up with the design myself.
'In summary, what it signifies to me is strength, resilience and continuing to move forward, even when it feels impossible.
'And it might not be my last one now that I've got the taste for it.'

Nicola Sturgeon admits she ‘could fall for a man or a woman'

Nicola Sturgeon has addressed questions about her sexuality by confirming that she could fall for a woman. The former first minister was pressed about her sexual orientation on Times Radio on Wednesday, having revealed in her autobiography, Frankly, that she had 'never considered sexuality, my own included, to be binary'. Asked by presenter Jane Garvey if that meant she could fall for a man or a woman, Sturgeon replied: 'I believe that, yes.' The clarification comes days after the former first minister refused to speculate on the possibility of a future relationship with a woman during an interview with ITV's Julie Etchingham. Sturgeon insisted that she was 'just enjoying life' and was 'not contemplating, sort of anything of that nature', having separated from her husband Peter Murrell in January. In her autobiography, Sturgeon reiterated that 'sexual relationships should be private matters'. Nicola Sturgeon and Catherine Colonna SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT/FLICKR Reflecting on her changing stance, Sturgeon explained: 'I'm not making any great revelation, I'm not sticking any labels on it. I guess what I'm saying is that's how I see the world, and it would have been dishonest to say that's how I see the world in relation to other people and not in relation to myself: I don't think sexuality is binary.' During her appearance on Times Radio, Sturgeon also clarified her shifting views on her mentor Alex Salmond. She admitted that her formerly close ally, who was accused of bullying colleagues while leading the Scottish government, could be 'really rough on people'. Alex Salmond with Nicola Sturgeon in 2012 IAN MACNICOL/GETTY IMAGES Sturgeon even revealed that she had been forced to intervene during Salmond's public reprimands, comparing his outbursts to those of Scottish football manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The former first minister said: 'I don't want to make comparisons between the two individuals, but you know when people talk about 'hairdryer treatment' when they're talking about somebody I think highly of, Sir Alex Ferguson.' She continued: 'Just dressing people down overly harshly in public to the point of trying to humiliate them, really fixing people with kind of like death stares.'

But before the song began he said into the mic: "This one's for Susan Boyle." And Subo, 63, was quick to respond to the music legend's tribute by breaking out her best bucket hat. She posed with the iconic headgear featuring a picture of Gallagher featuring the title of his solo hit song and album "Why me? Why not?" Susan also donned a black Oasis t-shirt and threw two thumbs up as she grinned ear-to-ear in the post on her Instagram page. The star wrote: "Thanks so much for the dedication Liam Gallagher. "You've made this old girl's day." She even made a reference to The Poznan, where fans turn their backs to the stage, place their arms around each other and jump up and down. It started in the Polish city it is named after but became a favourite of Manchester City fans - the club supported by Liam and Noel. Oasis fans took on the trend and now do it when the band performs their hit tune Cigarettes and Alcohol. Joyous moment Scots schoolgirl dances to favourite Oasis song outside packed Murrayfield gig Susan even hinted she would be heading to see the band when they return to Wembley Stadium for their sold out shows in September. She added: "Hope to see you and the rest of Oasis at Wembley in September for a wee bit of Poznań "Big love to you all." Oasis have just ended their absolutely epic three gig run in Edinburgh. Around 210,000 ecstatic fans rocked Murrayfield stadium when the reunion tour came to Scotland. The trio of sold out performances even set a record for the most SEISMIC performance at the venue in 20 years. While Liam had kind words for Susan, he had a different message for Edinburgh Council. He took three brutal swipes at local authority chiefs during the shows - one at each gig. The legendary rocker was left furious at council chiefs after they branded Oasis fans 'drunk', 'lairy', 'fat' and 'old' in secret safety briefings. Officials claimed that the concert-goers would be mainly 'rowdy' 'middle-aged men' who 'take up more room' and will drink to 'medium to high intoxication'. Liam has called out snooty Edinburgh council officials over their remarks on several occasions.
