The former England and Barcelona striker will make his final appearance on the highlights show on May 25.
But will continue to front the BBC's live FA Cup coverage next season and will also lead the coverage of the 2026 World Cup finals.
However, Lineker has revealed that he doesn't think his punditry career will carry on past that summer - telling the Telegraph that he will call it a day after the tournament.
He said: "Once I've done the World Cup, I won't be a football presenter again. I'll focus more on my podcast empire.'

He added: "I won't get involved in politics, I never really have.
"Apart from the Brexit vote, because I did a lot of research on that and decided, 'This could be worse than we think'.
"I never back a government. I might criticise Sir Keir Starmer on Israel. But nobody knows my politics.'
Lineker is being replaced as Match of the Day host by Gabby Logan, Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman next season.

OL Lyonnes appoint Giraldez to replace Montemurro as manager

June 3 (Reuters) - OL Lyonnes have appointed former Barcelona coach Jonatan Giraldez as manager to replace Joe Montemurro, the French women's league champions said. Giraldez coached Barcelona from 2021 to 2024, winning two Women's Champions Leagues, three league titles, two Copa de la Reina trophies and three Spanish Super Cups. The Spaniard, who has signed a three-year contract, joins the French club from NWSL side Washington Spirit. Both teams are part of the multi-club structure operated by the Michele Kang-owned Kynisca Sports International. "The club's history, ambition, and talented squad represent a fantastic opportunity, and I look forward to building on the club's successes as it enters a new chapter," Giraldez said in a statement on Monday. Lyonnes, formerly known as Olympique Lyonnais Feminin, are widely regarded as the most successful women's soccer club in the world and have won a record eight Champions League titles. Under Montemurro, who was appointed coach of the Australian women's national team on Monday, Lyonnes were crowned Premiere Ligue champions for the 18th time in the 2024-25 season and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Saudi Pro League eye Andre Onana transfer as Barcelona make Marcus Rashford call

Manchester United are hoping to bounce back from a poor season and they are already making moves in the transfer market, having signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves Manchester United are set for a busy summer as they look to revamp their squad after enduring their worst ever Premier League campaign. United finished 15th in the league and also missed out on Champions League qualification after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final. The Red Devils have already finalised a £62.5million deal for Matheus Cunha and plenty more incomings and outgoings are expected. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are set to complete permanent exits, while captain Bruno Fernandes could also leave. ‌ Al-Hilal are hoping to tempt him to Saudi Arabia with a hugely lucrative £100m contract offer and it remains to be seen whether Fernandes will accept. With all that in mind, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest news and rumours around Old Trafford... ‌ Onana exit Reports have claimed that Andre Onana is a target for newly-promoted Saudi Pro League side Neom SC. It is claimed that United would be opene to selling the goalkeeper, who made several high-profile errors this season. However, it has previously been reported that Onana wants to fight for his place at Old Trafford. "Andre's plan is to stay in Manchester and he wants to knuckle down and get United back to where they should be," a source was quoted as saying last month. "His sole focus is on United and nothing else. He's a confident person and wants to prove the doubters wrong. He knows he has made mistakes but he sees proving people wrong as a challenge." Barcelona's Rashford call Barcelona have been linked with a move for Marcus Rashford and the club's sporting director, Deco, has delivered an update on their transfer plans. "We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we'll discuss players to come," Deco told BBC Sport. "Of course, these two players, like you mentioned, they are good but have contracts in their clubs, so we won't speak because it's not fair. But when you decide to go to the market, for sure, we find some names. In my opinion, we don't need to bring many players. ‌ "When I speak with the agents of the players, everyone wants to come or stay. So this is important. The image of the club is still good. We are proud because Barcelona is still such a big club, and the way we are playing football makes players want to come." Man Utd eye Udinese star According to Italian outlet Messaggero Veneto, United are interested in Udinese defender Oumar Solet. Solet has impressed since joining Udinese from Salzburg in January and the likes of Napoli and Bournemouth have also been linked with the 25-year-old. The report states that Udinese are planning to cash in on Solet this summer, having set a price tag of around £30m.

UK's oldest white-tailed eagle dies aged 32

The eagle, a female named Frisa, hatched on Mull in 1992 and paired up with her long-term mate Skye in 1997. The pair raised their first chick on the island in 1998, and went on to raise a total of 25 chicks in their 28 years of partnership. Frisa was known to 'millions' thanks to appearances in a number of BBC programmes over the last two decades, beginning with the very first episode of Springwatch in 2005. Her death was announced on the latest episode of the programme on June 2. RSPB ambassador Dave Sexton, who spent 21 of his 36-year RSPB career working with white-tailed eagles on Mull, described Frisa as 'a very special bird who had touched the hearts of millions who saw her both on TV and in the wild'. He added: 'As Frisa got on in years, I dreaded the day I would visit her territory and find her gone. 'Sadly, that day has come and I feel like I've lost a friend. 'But what a wonderful life she had with her mate Skye. Together they raised 25 chicks, many of which are now breeding far and wide across Scotland. 'She was a true icon for white-tailed eagles and she'll always hold a special place in my heart.' RSPB Scotland said Frisa has not been seen since last year, leading experts to believe she has died either of natural causes, or following an altercation with another eagle. It is with a heavy heart we announce the death of Frisa, the UK's oldest wild White-tailed Eagle. This clip shows Frisa on the very first series of Springwatch in 2005, feeding some of the 25 chicks she raised during her lifetime. Catch the full story on tonight's episode. — RSPB Scotland (@RSPBScotland) June 2, 2025 Skye has also been spotted with another younger female eagle on Mull, which further suggests that Frisa has passed away as white-tailed eagles mate for life. At 31 years of age, Skye now takes on the mantle as the UK's oldest wild white-tailed eagle. Frisa's mother Blondie successfully raised the very first white-tailed eagle to fledge in Scotland following the reintroduction of the species in 1975. The species previously became extinct in the UK in 1918 when the last known native wild bird was shot in Shetland. A reintroduction project on the Isle of Rum using chicks donated from Norway has since seen the species re-establish a self-sustaining population in Scotland. There are now estimated to be up to 200 pairs of white-tailed eagles in the UK.
